How shit or good is milton Keynes for the night, gotta stay over for the last match , was gonna stay in northampton but that looked a bit quiet for my liking last week, stayed in rugby last year, does anyone have any suggestion of places near milton keynes.
Horrific on every fucking level, Bedford isn't much better either.

MK is the epitome of shit, they think they've got culture cos there is a theatre area, I've more culture in my fridge with an out of date yoghurt.

The area is pain to get around by train too, everything takes ages bar London. You'd be better dipping to Brum on the fast rattler post game.

Yep I've heard so. Birmingham a safe option but wanted somewhere I hadn't done, not looking promising though.

We went round Newport Pagnell pre match when we went about 4 years ago, quite a few boozers round there, we had a good time. Wouldn't have a clue where to go Saturday night if you don't fancy London.

Birmingham looking the best bet due to easy train option I think. Can't say I'm looking forward to the match at all I fucking hate the place, I said I'd never go again 2 years ago when I left after about 30 seconds , Friday at vale will be 100x better.

Adele is better looking than Susan Boyle but they're both ugly is how i'd describe it.

At least vale has some character about it, quality away end , a bit of atmosphere , easy train journey and the start of what will be a massive 4 day bender hopefully ending with the title on Monday.

The away end doesn't quite rock with 300 Posh in there. We drank in Handley this year instead of Burslem.

Make sure you go left out of Stoke station instead of right or you'll end up in Handley like we did. :ffs:

How did you manage that??

If you go right out of Stoke station then you'll end up in Stoke itself, nowhere near HANLEY!

Left out of the station takes you past the university and towards Shelton. Carry on through Shelton and you'll end up in Hanley that way.

Best bet is either drink in Stoke then taxi to Burslem. Or, jump on a train to Longport from Stoke for a few quid and walk up to the ground from there with a few pubs on the way through the shithole that is Middleport.

Be cheaper and quicker get a taxi though but be aware that the only pub allowing away fans in is the club house on the car park yards from the away turnstiles. Same applies to Bolton fans the weekend after as well. Police advice to try and minimise the potential for any incidents in the town centre I'd say.

Off to Vale tomorrow in car (but as passenger ! :bg:).

Where would you go close to ground to park and walk for a decent boozer ?

The quickest way to Bedford is to change at St. Neots and get a 15-20 quid taxi, otherwise you have to go to London or Leicester.
Not really, get a train from Bletchley, takes 45 mins.

Get there reasonably early (12:30 or earlier) and you can pretty much guarantee a free space on one of the side streets yards away from the away end.

The only place letting away fans in is the club house (Vale Social) on the away car park opposite the turnstiles, so you don't really have a choice. Unless you can hide your accent very well and aren't wearing colours then you might be able to sneak in The Bulls Head in the centre of Burslem opposite Coral.

I'm pretty certain I'll be free to booze in various town centre pubs, take it you just mean round the ground?

I take it you mean from Milton Keynes to Bedford? I was talking about getting to Bedford from the north.
Aye.

And from Sheffield I used to change at Leicester when working down that way.

Burslem will be only home fans apart from the Vale social (basically fans will be caged into the away car park to avoid trouble) this after the Wolves incidents. Best bet would be to drink in one of the other towns of S-o-T although hiding colours might be wise in the area's when lardie's populate.

My Wife's Sister lives in Milton Keynes and when she visits us here she thinks Grimsby and Cleethorpes are great with loads to do, which should give you an inkling of just how shit Milton Keynes actually is.

Not in terms of the local population, like a real life version of the League of Gentleman!

I'm sure we have plenty of places in Sheffield on a par that I don't need to name.

Pretty sure you'll be ok in the bulls head it's usually away fan friendly. When you say Stoke centre do you mean the town of Stoke or the City Centre, which is Hanley? More places to drink in Hanley, wouldn't entertain Stoke myself. Newcastle is alright. Each of those will need a taxi to the ground.

There's a lot of moaning from some Vale fans about giving up the Social to away fans, but I think it's a sensible decision. 4,500 away fans, (I'd have given you more personally, with us having cash turnstiles it's inevitable some blades will end up in the our end) and nowhere for them to drink, recipe for disaster. Might as well give them access to a bar under our control and make money from it. No brainer, plus easier for security.

There'll be mither whatever happens though. It's pretty much guaranteed.

1600 sold for Charlton on monday, with an additional 500 now available as of this morning. Will probably end up being around the 2000 mark.

Would have expected much more than that. You've definitely brought 3,000 before. Massive, winnable game for you near the end of the season, 45 minutes away.

We've only been to you once in about 30 years, and yes we sold that one out. Our support is very fickle though, 2k seems to be about our limit for away followings generally speaking. Spurs this season we took around the 2.8k mark, but they were pretty readily available up until the day and hardly flying off the shelves.

Never understood this complete and utter myth myself.

I've visited practically every town or city in the country on numerous occasions that has a Football League team in it, and I wouldn't even put Stoke-on-Trent in the top 20 in terms of weird fuckers that inhabit those places. It's just some strange obsession opposition fans like to say.

It's almost as ridiculous as those that say Burslem is a shithole and a poor away day yet it's got exactly what you want from a decent one - ridiculous amount of pubs within a mile radius, plenty of places to eat all within 500 yards of each other, a bookies etc..

Not quite MK Dons or Northampton though is it? Wish we had a generic retail park with the same chain of restaurants and retail stores as about 300 other places.
