I know we already have a play-off thread, but I don't care. It's the biggest single fixture of the season.

Think we're gonna get done. Possibly a season too soon for us and I think we might benefit from another year at this level. Need to keep the ball better than we did in the 2nd leg, though I accept that this will be a different sort of game entirely.

We have quite a bit of play-off final experience in our ranks for this one. Harris and Abdou have played in two, as has Morison. Ed Upson & Webster also won promotion with Yeovil at Wembley. Hopefully that stands us in good stead.

Barnsley 2-1 Millwall.

hopefully Millwall , we never beat Barnsley, we can't beat Millwall either at the Den but we can at home so better chances of winning

surprised with how quickly Millwall have adjusted to league 1, Gregory and Morison working well together though, Steve Morison is such a weird player, clearly has class but couldn't score for shit at Leeds , weird

Needs to have a team play to his strengths. He can't beat a player on the ground so almost everything he does needs to be done first touch so he needs to receive the ball high up the pitch and largely down the middle. He thrives off of direct play.

Barnsley's form, confidence and momentum to take them over the line in this one.

I think the big pitch will suit their wingers too who are very dangerous (Hamill and Isgrove), especially with us missing our right back for the playoffs.
Our biggest strength is the two strikers, so all about whether we manage to get them any service.

I always think a team that has banged in a few goals, has a drought soon after.

Both scored 13 in their last 6
Barnsley 1, 0, 2, 4, 3 & 3
Millwall 1, 3, 3, 2, 3 & 1

Both similar records
Barnsley WDDWWW
Millwall WWWWWD

Feels different to previous ones. Winning this game is a bonus rather than an expectation, like the previous finals against Swindon and Scunthorpe.

Think if both teams play as well as they can, Barnsley just about edge it. All about who holds their nerve on the day. Hoping for Barnsley to do it.

In the 22 league games since we last played each other (2nd Jan), when in Injury time Morison headed against the bar and Gregory's follow up header was cleared off the line....

Barnsley's record is P 22 W 14 D 5 L 3 F 36 A 13 Pts 47
Millwall's Record is P 22 W 14 D 5 L 3 F 37 A 15 Pts 47

I just think that Barnsley have more individuals who can produce something special on the day. Very little in it though as you say. Hopefully it will be a good game rather than a cagey 0-0

Funny this one.

Should really want the noisy neighbours to lose so we get our derby games next season and to not have them lording it over us everytime I'm in the local.

The flip side is we haven't beaten Millwall since the turn of the Boer war and we're crap enough as it is without starting the season on negative points, and they would be lording it over us in the local anyway so wouldn't mind seeing them gone.

Tough choice.

There can't be a more one sided dislike between any two teams than between Millwall and Charlton. You lot really seem to hate us where as most of our fans regard Charlton at worse as an irrelevance and many of us have a bit of a soft spot for them. There doesn't seem to be any real history of aggro between the teams and both teams have vastly more unpleasant neighbours who we can focus on.

Is the dislike purely borne out of the one-sidedness of the record?

I don't think there is that much dislike towards Millwall to be honest.

To insinuate that Millwall fans don't care about us is funny though, I know plenty of Millwall fans from the local pubs etc that like to rub it in when we're not doing well and its about the only time The Den is ever full for a league game when you play us. I agree though, I don't see Millwall anything more than just a local rivalry as opposed to a proper rivalry.

I don't dislike Millwall, have some good mates who support them, they're just more of a mouthy annoyance really. Would be nice to finally fucking beat you though!

Yeah, clearly there is a local interest and as a lot of us know supporters of the other side the games do tend to attract a decent crowd. Assuming we don't get promoted on Sunday, I'd quite happily see a Millwall & Charlton first and second next season (in that order!). Also helps that in my experience almost all the Charlton fans I know are decent people who I'll happily have a beer with whilst I've never met a West Ham or Palace fan that isn't a dribbling moron.

London might be an interesting place on Sunday night.. Influx of yorkshiremen and (some) janners who are staying overnight Sunday in prep for our final on Monday. This added to 40k rampaging Millwall fans whether they win or lose, could well mean a busy night for the met!

If....and its a big if Barnsley play to their potential I can see them winning this by 2 or 3 goals. Whilst its obvious we never turned up in either of our semi final games, I still thought Barnsley were a class act in both games. Best side I have seen this season both with and without the ball.

We might as well not even turn up if all Barnsley have to do is play to their potential to win.

I think we'll lose, but our record since the turn of the year is absolutely identical to Barnsley's and we have the best strike-force in the division. We are more than capable of beating anyone in the division.

Not against Oxford. :cool1:

Nice to see both clubs accept the footballing lessons that we taught them and go on to bigger things though. Had a great time when we played both of you. In a weird way, I like Millwall. I wish someone else was going up instead.

Why are Barnsley being talked about as strong favourites? I just don't see it.
