So with just one game remaining we have three confirmed teams and a probable 4th.

Blades, Chesterfield and Swindon plus MK or Preston.

The old cliche of form counts for nothing will no doubt be thrown around by any Blades trying to convince themselves that we have a chance, myself included. And probably Swindon fans also with the form they're in being arguably worse than ours!

Chesterfield could be the dark horses but don't really think they'll have enough. Should Preston somehow end up in 3rd then id expect them to fluff it, would be on a massive downer of they threw it away after being in the top2 for so long.

MKDons I expect to be 3rd and, to be honest, walk the play-offs. On very good form, easily the best PO team over the season and wouldn't really be on a downer from finishing 3rd as it wouldn't be as if they'd thrown it away...like we did 3(?) years ago, it doesn't seem that long ago!

Must say a massive praise for our board on ticket pricing. £8 concessions, £12 season ticket holders and £15 for anyone else!

Think you might do it Blade. They seem to relish the big games, although if Blademan89 is right that hardly any fans will turn up then that won't exactly help the cause.

I think they will tbf, the PO semi tickets are cheap enough that most should turn up and should we get to the final I think there may be a view that we don't deserve promotion so much it may just be our year. And as you said Clough does mange to get us playing well for the bigger games, we even managed to score at Wembley last time we were there...not once but 3 times which is a massive duck of our backs.

Still have a sneaky one for Sheffield United. They've been bang average for months and still sit in a play off spot. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they managed to pull through in a cup scenario.

The current play off records of the 3 of the 4 teams in the play off spots: Sheff U, 0 promotions from 6, Swindon 1 from their last 6, MK Dons 0 from 4. Christ, if MK pip Preston into 2nd, Preston will go in with a 0 from 9 record.

Wonder if any of these teams manage to improve their recent records?

Edit, well, my stats were clearly wrong, so edited it now. :ffs:

Get your facts right. We've won the POs 3 times.

Beat Gillingham

Beat Sunderland

Beat Leicester

In the Finals

MK Dons vs Sheffield United final.

I'm pretty confident MK Dons will be in the PO's - can't see Preston cocking it up at Colchester to be honest.

I'm sure we have 1 out of 2: won in 95, lost in 91. Never been in the L1 POs as far as I'm aware.

We're going in to the play-offs as massive underdogs now.

Hopefully our strongest XI will play without the fear that got the best of them over the last month.

Considering we reportedly have a 25% sell on clause for Yannick Bolasie, and Pardrew is speaking crazy numbers such as £40m (which for the record, I think is totally ridiculous and unrealistic,) anything we flogged Flint for would be peanuts, and wouldn't be needed, neither be worth it.

Don't know how to feel really, never experienced the playoffs before. I started being taken properly after we got up through the playoffs to the third division in '01, beating Bury. I've known relegations and title wins.

In one sense, we have fuck all to lose, to that's nice. But on the other side, I think i'm getting more nervous cos I know I can't be there to support them, unless we get to the final. I can't make the home tie, but can make the away tie if we finish 6th. However, if we beat United on Sunday, I can't make either. When I can't make a nothing game, I still get stressed that i'm relying on text/internet updates. However, with this, it's the furthest we've ever got in my Spireite life, and might be the highest we ever get (who knows with football) - And I miss it!

For football reasons, I want us to do the double of the blades on Sunday, hence playing an out of sorts Swindon. Probably our best chance, despite them battering us twice over the season. However, from a selfish point of view, we could draw on Sunday, and I could see us away at MK/Preston, where, aslong as we didn't get bummed a few days before, will carry at least some feeling of, 'WE CAN DO THIS!'

Who knows.

Think it'll be won by whoever doesn't get 2nd. I know I know, it's usually an underdog. But I think that MK/Preston are much stronger than the other 3 teams.

Think you've got a little mixed up here. We won automatic promotion in 2001 (under a massive black cloud), the Bury play-off final win was back in '95.

I think MK will win the play offs. Good form at the minute, and i think they're the best of the bunch in the play offs (assuming preston beat colchester obviously)

Would be deserved too, if they beat yeovil and Preston beat Colchester... MK would be in 3rd on 91 points  Which i think is a record of highest points without getting auto...

Blades and MK Dons have been around the block here, mentally history makes me think they will bottle it, perhaps in the final. I'll go with a bold Chesterfield to go up. 6th place quite frequently goes up and momentum is a strange thing after promotion last year. They deserve a year in the Championship (that's all it would be IMO) as they are another in a long line of clubs that are too small for that level, but generally spend 8 seasons out of 10 in League One.

Much of a muchness with Orient, County, us, Oldham, Scunthorpe etc.

We're not going up, we're a decent striker short of any chance of that.
Shame though, I'll only have 3-4 new grounds to go to next season ... though our awaydays will mostly be pretty close ;)

Not really, i'd say 70 points is usually about the marker which with a win on Sunday we'll pass. At the end of the day it will be at least the 6th highest points total in the league, it ain't our problem that the teams below us haven't done any better.

And i may be wrong here but didn't Bradford finish on 60-odd points when they won the League 2 play-offs in 12/13? because i'm sure in the end they only finished a couple of points above us.

Complete mind lapse on my part, perhaps I just block out the whole DB situation, and in turn miss a few years haha

Big test for our young team really. We've fallen away badly towards the end of the season and failed in our key games against franchise and City.

Not that confident going into these games but will drink too much and shout at the telly in the first leg and I'll shout at the players from my vantage point in the Don Rogers Stand in the second leg.

And 99% of Spireites would have no problem with that, mate.

It would just be the novelty of seeing us play at that level for the first time (unless you're of a certain age). I'd fully expect we'd come straight back down and would seriously hope that we wouldn't start chucking money about at player contracts etc but play it sensibly and there would be money to be made.

But, let's get there first.......

You might not have a problem with that, but I bet Yeovil fans thought that 2 years ago. Look where they are now.

But who's to say if we stay in this league, we won't get relegated next season anyway?

I've been going to CFC games since '97 and you can count the amount of times we've finished in the top half of this league in that time on one hand and still have digits spare. I know plenty of teams in here, like yourselves have played at that level in recent years and it may not seem all that to you, but to us, it's kind of a big deal (to nearly quote Ron Burgundy).

It would be so undeserved if we did it. Lets see how sunday goes 1st to see who we get. The positive of getting pne is they will be in turmoil if they fuck it up on sunday. However they destroyed us at the start of there good run. Then mk dons they score for fun but they wont play like that against us because robinson knows what hes doing if you try and attack us we are actually very good on the break so that could backfire on him. Id expect 2 legs with mk dons to end with a maximum total of 3 goals between both teams in both legs put together. And swindon well they battered us at there place and were better for an hour at ours but there on poor form the same as us so fuck knows how that would end up.
