Whats happened to Lee Brown ?
Brown hasn't signed a new contract yet. We've offered him one, but he would be on more than the average wage in the salary cap and to be honest I think he doesnt' want to stay. I'm not sold on him. Good defender, pretty poor footballer.

Average age of our squad is just under 23 now I think, and that includes a 31 and 28 year old.

Said it multiple times across threads on here in the last few months but what an absolute shit show the EFL is now. Issues all over the place to be sorted.

GK
Alex Bass - rumoured to be off to Crystal Palace
Craig McGilliveray
Duncan Turnbull

Defenders
James Bolton
Paul Downing
Jack Whatmough
Sean Raggett
Hadji Mnoga (academy lad)
Lee Brown

Midfield
Tom Naylor
Ben Close
Andy Cannon
Bryn Morris

Wingers/Attack Mid
Ronan Curtis - rumoued off to Brentford now they didn't get promoted
Ryan Williams
Marcus Harness
Gareth Evans

Forwards
John Marquis
Ellis Harrison
Reeco Hackett-Fairchild - Youngster
Added Lee Brown as he signed a new contract and Sean Raggett as he's signed. Looking to get a few more in this week before the cap, but cutting it fine. Looks like we are trying to get McGeehan on loan for the season. We need another CB, competition for Brown at LB and another striker to replace Hawkins and Pitman who got released. Nothing has come of interest from Palace/M'boro for Alex Bass and now Brentford didn't go up if they lose Berahino (spelling) then Curtis may be his replacement.

GOALKEEPERS

DEFENDERS

Paul Caddis
Dion Conroy
Tom Broadbent
Taylor Curran
Tyler Reid
Zeki Fryers
Mathieu Baudry
Rob Hunt

MIDFIELDERS

Jack Payne
Diallang Jaiyesimi
Michael Doughty
Lloyd Isgrove - New contract offered
Ellis Iandolo
Danny Rose - new contract offered
Matty Palmer
Anthony Grant
Cameron McGilp

FORWARDS

Tyler Smith
Hallam Hope
Kaiyne Woolery - new contract offered
Scott Twine

Updated with changes. How did you remember someone like Tyler Reid but forget Caddis? :bg:McGilp is a CDM or centre half as well I think!

Without adding Woolery, Rose and Isgrove who may or may not be here, starting team currently looks like:

GK: ? Need to sign two keepers.

RB: Paul Caddis
CB: Dion Conroy
CB: Zeki Fryers/Matheiu Baudry
LB: Rob Hunt

CM: Anthony Grant
CM: Michael Doughty

RW: Diallang Jaiyesimi
CAM: Jack Payne
LW: Hallam Hope

ST: Tyler Smith

Positions to add to:

-Obviously in goal.
-Another centre half (All our CBs have injury question marks
- Left back if Zeki is now considered a CB
- A wide forward or 2 depending on if Woolery and Isgrove sign their contracts. Hallam Hope I'm also not convinced will make the grade this season.
- Two strikers

A decent core with some improvement still needed. I'd imagine we're in a better position than a fair few clubs with what we can currently put out. Sooner the keeper situation is sorted the better.

Wellens today said we need a big squad for all the Saturday/Tuesday's this season so we still have quite a few to bring in I'd imagine.

Can’t believe you’ve missed out Lyden!

Presume, like most clubs, we’ll have our full complement of loan players, so that’s another 4 to come in. We’re well sorted in defence and midfield - apart from keepers, although that Chelsea fella is supposed to be signing. Can’t see Woolery or Isgrove staying as it seems Wellens has already brought in replacements. Need an experienced striker - still reckon we’ll sign Maynard, based on nothing at all.

Decent looking squad.

We're still well short.

Currently a squad of 17 in theory but in reality it's 13 because 3 of those will head out on loan to gain first team experience and 1 is transfer listed. I can only see one more outgoing so the squad will start padding out over the next couple of weeks I imagine.

Think us Gills still only have about 9 on the books, inc 2 GK and an outfield youngster not likely to play too soon.

We need to sign probably 5 more this week before we can play any friendlies. Rush goalie maybe...

To be fair I think most of league on squads are a little thread bare at the moment.

We're actually doing OK. Hodges seems to be getting the players he actually wants rather than picking up third-choices and it's looking much better than this time last year. Three loan cards to play still, and there's an iffy rumour that Marcus Forss is coming back from Brentford which would be icing on the cake and then some. Definitely one more player has signed, though not announced. Without any more additions the first squad would look something like below (age in brackets, * for home-grown).

23 players, 11 of whom came from our academy, average age 22.

GK - Connal Trueman (loan from Birmingham, 24)
LWB - Nesta Guinness Walker (20)
CB - Will Nightingale (25) *
CB - Paul Kalambayi (21) *
CB - Terrell Thomas (24)
RWB - Luke O'Neill (28)
LM - Callum Reilly (26)
CM - AlexWoodyard (27)
RM - Jack Rudoni (19) *
ST - Joe Pigott (26)
ST - Ollie Palmer (28)

Subs:

GK - Nik Tzanev (23)
LWB- Paul Osew (19) *
RWB - Cheye Alexander (25)
CB - Jack Madelin (18) *
CM - Anthony Hartigan (20) *
RM - Shane McLoughlin (23)
ST - Adam Roscrow (25)

Fringe:

CB - Archie Procter (18) *
RWB - Huseyin Biler (19) *
LM - Ayoub Assal (18) *
ST - Zach Robinson (18) *
ST - Troy Chiabi (17) *

Average age - 23.

Currently a squad of 22 with Adebayo-Smith (hasn't even been given a squad number) and Bradley heading out on loan at some point, and a 17-year old in Sean Roughan who I think we'll keep around the first team tbh.

Don't think there are too many in our squad that will be overly recognisable to many, including us!

Ok now have signed Callum Prings in at competition for LB loan from Bristol City, also Callum Johnson from Accrington to fight it out with James Bolton at RB. Whatmough is fit and we've signed Michael Jacobs from Wigan. Id expect Paul Downing, Gareth Evans to leave, third GK Turnbull to go out on loan when Bass is fit again, a young forward in on loan and another CB to come in before the window closes.

I think it's Cameron Pring, Nelson. I hope what you're saying is right about the comings and goings. Would be sad to see Evans go but that's the salary cap for you. Would be a good signing for someone looking for a versatile player to cover a number of positions.

Yeah, he's given us a few years good service, but I think he's shot in a Jackett side that is all about running miles.

We have lost our captain (Dempsey) and vice captain(O’Keefe) in the last two games.
Dempsey out for approx 6 weeks and O’Keefe probably out for the season.
Our squad was looking short of numbers before. Now it looks in desperate need of re-enforcements.
Sometimes football is a real ball ache.

Nothing like early season long-term injuries to key players to knock the stuffing out of you.

We had this a few years ago with holmes-dennis who was on loan for the whole season, but got injured after 20 mins. We had to pay his wages all season even though he was crocked. We ended up replacing him with a load of other loanie LBs who all ended up getting injured too

I know your fans did'nt like Hanlon that much but after watching our game versus Sunderland on I player i am impressed with both players that we signed from yourselves. Appreciate does'nt help your injury problems one bit though.

Nearly every Gills fan I know liked Hanlon.
He is quick, busy and skilful.
The problem is that he is not a natural goal scorer (yet). A bit of a startled rabbit in the headlights in front of goal.
The thing I didn’t like was the way that he hung around for months at the club training but giving no decision as to whether he was staying or going whilst his agent whored him around league 1.

JAS and Bradley still likely to leave, which will get us to 23, although Soule has been brought in because of Morton's injury who will probably be out until Xmas.
