And I always thought Carlisle was one of the more “local” games..
I suppose culturally we are cos you're still in the North whereas you make the shorter hop to Port Vale and you're in the midlands. Also the map's based on road travel, rail would be a lot more in our favour, especially as getting to Nottingham by rail from anywhere in the Western half of the country involves about three trains, a rickshaw and a horse-drawn carriage*

*mind you I suppose Birkenhead has the distinction of being a pretty large town only connected to the national rail by virtue of a neighbouring city's metro network.

Was waiting for someone to ask.

The green areas represent from dark to light green, travel times from each club in 5 minute intervals up to a maximum of 45 minutes. You can see this most clearly with Crawley and Carlisle where there isn't much overlapping with other clubs so it's just one set of rings that get lighter the further out they go.

Where clubs overlap the colour of the contours stack together and it gets darker in colour so you can easily see where the concentrations are, you can even pick out some of the major roads since travel time countours extend further along them making them darker.
Ah ok, that makes more sense - it’s an interesting map and shows four pretty distinct areas. I would question whether you can get from Stevenage (or Milton Keynes I guess) to the Thames in 45 mins mind, unless it was about 2am. ;-) The distances from Cambridge look about right, can definitely make out the A10, A1 (spit) and M11.

Depends on the trains you get, but from MK to the Thames it's probably easy enough to do it in around an hour or so.

Yeah I think you’d be pushed to do it in 45 mins. Im not familiar with MK - is it far from the ground to the train station?

It seems to suggest you can just and so get there from Stevenage, not from MK though. The software I use, uses data from OpenStreetMap, so they won't have the database of actual journey times the likes of TomTom have, but I would presume that the anal retentives dedicated mappers that put it together wold be making a best guess at the average speeds on roads in London.

For your further information, Cambridge's travel times with all others removed.

Yes. MK is an absolute pain by train. You have Milton Keynes which is a bus/cab journey away. There is one closer to the ground but it’s still a fair walk.

Milton Keynes is an odd town anyway and though the ground is a decent one and you get about a 10,000 allocation, it’s in the middle of a retail area so lacks any real character imo.

If you go to Bletchley station it’s a bit of a quicker walk though still a good 20 odd minutes approximately.

Coming from Cambridge you'd be better off going to Bedford and getting the train to Bletchley, and depending on where you want to go get off at either Fenny Stratford or Bletchley and go from there.
Alternatively if you are going to MK Central, the number 5 or 6 bus go to the stadium/Mount Farm (a simple walk down the industrial estate) or there are plenty of taxis that will do it for around a fiver

Friendly away at Dunfermline. Takes us to 8 pre season friendlies. Last year we had 3, which was obviously a factor in our slow start to the season.. but 8?!?

The Tranmere oldham thing for me goes way back to our premier league days when they beat us in the cup. Never lived that down at school.

I also used to play for the fans team and they were always tasty affairs. Mainly due to the one meat head they had always looking for trouble
