It could be a bit difficult due to the switch on forums, for example we had one on best and worst thread, and also we had one for best match reporter but I've noticed few people have written match reports since the switch, still I feel there'll be an appetite for it.

HG has most pessimistic nailed down then ;)

Is it potentially a waste of time this year with the move to a new forum?

I tried to run this at the end of last season but there was hardly any interest. I'd run it the 2-3 seasons before with a good response but people didn't seem to fancy it last year.

You're welcome to give it a go Shoddy if you want.

Interesting, must be different leagues, it was very popular/contentious in league one last year
Give it a try. Chance your arm, who knows.

If it doesn't work in League 2, try it in the non league forum next season, maybe it'll work there.

It's likely to be pointless this season in all honesty, I don't think there will be a wide array of different answers to certain questions. However, if you want to give it a go Shoddy, absolutely go for it.

Can anyone believe that HG was only voted the third most pessimistic Carlisle fan in last year's league one awards?

It's the team. We weren't in the relegation zone until about March last season. There was reason for optimism for most of the season, especially when we had the likes of Ben Amos, Max Ehmer and Tom Lawrence and then Gary Madine. It only went to shit in the last month or so really, but even up until that Oldham game I still had a bit of hope.

This season has been one shambles after another. The team has been horrendous all season and is showing signs of getting even worse and the fact we're in a lower league makes it even worse. That's why I'm so pessimistic.

OK... I'll start a new thread to announce the start of voting, but I just want to check what people think about the following list of awards. There's still a fair few, most from previous contests and, mostly arranged into opposing pairs (it has been known in the past for the same person to win two opposite awards).

I've removed some of top awards which were subtly different from each other such as best fan, best poster, hardest working poster etc. I've also removed the best match reporter as match reports have been few and far between since the switch (although to be fair I am comparing L2 on OFF to L1 on TFF a lot).

POSTERS
  • Best overall Poster
  • Most knowledgeable Poster
  • Funniest Poster
  • Least Funny Poster
  • Poster you'd most like to meet for a pint
  • Poster you'd most like to give a slap
  • Most Optimistic Poster
  • Most Pessimistic Poster
  • Most Biased Poster
  • Least Biased Poster
CLUBS
  • Club with the best fans on this forum
  • Club with the worst fans on this forum
THREADS

  • Worst Thread (on OFF only)
On TFF we also had best new poster, however it was easy for people to check someone's profile to see if they were new or not before voting. Not so now because on this forum we're all new; so I wasn't sure whether it was possible to have that as a category. Actually I'd really like to have categories for best poster who came over from TFF and best poster who wasn't on TFF... but again, no way for people to check their answers. No reason why we can't go with that but we'd have to accept that there is a small risk it could be won by someone who shouldn't have been eligible for it.

Any thoughts will be considered. I know Cardsfan in the non-league forum has gone for the full range of categories, much similar to what we used to have, but I don't know what things are like down there, perhaps they recovered far more of their former members. I felt that a reduced list fitted best with what we're working with here in L2.

There was a "meet the members" thing on TFF some while ago - maybe something to do next season (for those who us still in league 2).

In short someone ran it - questions were posted to the moderator of the thread secretly and all the questions were then put to the poster in question.

Seemed to work quite well.

Cardsfan seems to have taken on that task, happily enough.
We can swap roles next year ;)

In all seriousness, for whatever reason the L2 forum is a lot less active than the non-league one so it's probably wise to have a reduced list so that it stays as interesting and more people are willing to send in votes.

L2 forum is just us, Carlisle, Mansfield and Hartlepool talking relegation. Nothing else ever gets posted here.

The thing is league 2 relegation is about the most awful thing that can happen to a club so no wonder fans get worked up about it, may I say also most of us Poolies have only been here a month so a best newcomer catagory may give one of us a chance, and when I mean one of us I of course mean me! I wouldn't trust the rest of them as far as I could throw them!

I wasn't sure about the thread votes, there isn't really too much choice. I could though go back to the previous idea of having the following category too.

Best poster to join since the switch to OFF.
