I obviously don't hear too much of Radio Humberside but Holloway having a pop back seemed the right thing to do. Always got the impression that they stir everything up quite a lot and poke the hornets nest.

On throw-ins, I thought that as long as part of the feet were behind the by-line it was ok, so in theory it can still be a legal throw if parts of both feet are on the pitch.

This came up on our forum a while back - it's a legal throw if part of the leading foot is touching the line - so you can have 99% of your foot on the pitch.

I think it's worded "part of both feet must be on or behind the line".

It's not the front foot in the picture.

My issue is that he walks his rear foot onto the pitch while taking the throw. To do that he must raise the foot making it a foul throw. I'm also under the impression that neither foot s allowed onto the pitch in the process of taking the throw. Again making it a foul throw.

The laws are (from fifa)

At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower:
• faces the field of play
has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the
touch line

• holds the ball with both hands
• delivers the ball from behind and over his head
• delivers the ball from the point where it left the field of play

I have emboldened the bit about each foot being on the floor.

I was incorrect about the foot on the line but both feet must be on or behind the line and on the ground. The picture Shoddy put up is within the law its what happen next that I think is a foul throw.

Over to the refs.

I see loads of throw-ins that look suspiciously like foul throw-ins all the time, it's something that doesn't often seem to get picked up on. Whether that's the ball not properly going behind the head or a trailing leg lifting etc, happens a lot.

Not sure I'm following, but that pic he has both feet touching the ground - anything after that is after "the moment of delivering the ball", so irrelevant.

Most are foul throws these days, half the goal keepers kicking the ball out their hands seem to end up with the ball in hand out the area at times. Just part of it currently.

I think his foot is on the line there which could be a foul throw but thats not what I meant.

I was always taught that the throw had to be completed before the player is allowed on the pitch and both feet had to be on the ground. Your player (I dont recall his name) has a way of taking it so he rear foot follows through, its a walking/running motion. Which I think it's dodgy as his rear foot leaves the ground and he encroaches onto the pitch.

Casey

Edit; I'm just a fan and I what I think doesn't count for much but it would be interesting if any of the refs out there could comment.
Think you're allowed on the line.

In the photo I posted, at the moment he releases the ball, both feet are on the ground but it's close and maybe there's once or twice he's lifted his foot too early and that has been noticed.

Other fans have brought this up too, and the answer is I don't know. Presumably they're legal throws if it's been brought up by fans time and time again but never noticed by a referee (or to be fair, the opposition manager).

Only see one throw-in on the highlights though and he's clearly not gone over the line so not sure what you're referring to.

The comments you can hear from the benches in that video are pretty amusing
Tranmere cheated for years with throwings.....its not new

Interesting the EFL statement used the word suspended and not postponed.

I think we could get the points once investigated. As rightly pointed out above, Southend had the players to have a game but have tried to pull the wool over the EFL eyes. They should be punished for this.
Wouldn’t count on it. The 2 games we had called off due to Covid were ‘suspended’. We play one of them this Saturday.

Games called off with covid will have to be replayed.....the other team will not be awarded the points
Bolton set a president last season postponing the Doncaster game on duty of care [medical grounds] to our youngsters.

Oldham are an odd one, they actually have some really good players going forward, not great defensively, we pummelled them first half but they did seem to have a threat and the two young lads they have are very good.

That goal at Exeter is stunning, thought Conlons free kick there was good in September but that’s just another level.

No surprise Southend will play Tuesday night.

One player even described as coming back after feeling very tired at the weekend. The whole situation stinks and clearly wasn't called off due to Covid.

Winds me up so much, one of the very first things I learned when I started playing was how to take a proper bloody throwing, professional players incapable of that gotta be a week wages each time.

Clearly Southend didn't fancy playing a team as good as Cambridge, but are more then happy to play us. Understandable to be fair.

Which is why I said in that picture it's legal.

Cambridge are 2nd in the league, Southend are bottom.

They should be able to beat them whenever the rearranged fixture is anyway, it's a pointless arguement.

They always take the piss gaining yardage as well, hardly ever gets taken from where it actually goes out of play. On top of that no one bloody moves to show for the ball most of the time which makes the throw take ages and eventually when it's taken loses possession straight away.

If football worked like that we'd win bets every Saturday.

There are teams in my opinion who will rise in this league.....Bolton, Port Vale, Mansfield and Scunthorpe.
Then the are teams who are near the top who will fall down the league in the coming months because they are basically shit.......Cambridge,Exeter,Carlisle and Tranmere

That's true but if Cambridge want to be serious promotion contenders then they should be able to beat Southend with a full strength line up.
