Nolans first home game in charge.

We looked a lot better on Saturday, due to new manager syndrome & Wycombe having a toothless attack.

Newport came back from 2 down for the 3rd or 4th time at the weekend.

The 3 strikers they've signed should be enough for me to get them over the safety line.

Kevin Nolan is a tactical genius. Can't believe he thought of such a revolutionary move as playing a midfielder that can actually tackle on Saturday. Can't wait to see what he comes up with on Tuesday.

It's almost as if Hendon was totally fucking clueless in comparison.

Odd/poor game. Newport played some neat and tidy stuff in the opening half without creating anything until the 45th minute when Alex Cisak was forced into a wonderful reaction stop. Orient were playing weird counter-attacking/lump it to Palmer hybrid tactics. Very odd. Really liked the look of Alex Rodman; put in some lovely crosses that the thuggish Wilkinson got nowhere near.

Second half was even odder as Newport changed tactics and receded from the game almost entirely, aside from one Wilkinson shot and some wholesale time wasting. Couldn't understand Feeney's thought process as he nullified Rodman and ceded territory that they'd controlled in the first half to the home side. Orient were too crap to do much about it, taking the wrong option time and again in the final third until we were awarded a soft pen in the final ten minutes. It probably was a foul, but it's one you hardly ever see given.

0-0 would have been a fairer result, but it was nice to see Orient defending as a team and having some semblance of coherence in midfield. Matt Baudry was head and shoulders better than everyone else on the pitch. Nolan looked fat.

Newport were very unlucky to lose that, but despite dominating the midfield with the extra man, they only carved out one good chance and Cisak pulled off an excellent save. Wilkinson was a bit isolated up front.

Both sides played themselves into trouble a few times - thought we created the better chances but lacked composure when making the correct decision.

Penalty looked like one to me, but would need to see it again.

We're trying to rush things for me, going to take time for Nolan to settle things.

The signing of Shaun Brisley is huge for me.

Newport for me have enough to beat the drop, but need to take more chances going forward on tonight's showing.

Reading the messageboard I thought I was going mad. I agree with every word you've said. Especially the Baudry shout. Thought Shaw was fairly naive against Rodman. Thought McAnuff's movement was far and away above anyone else's also.

Although also a shout out to Hughes who I thought was faultless at the back for Newport. And also to Ayina who managed a fantastic suicidal pass as his first contribution and his second was to ignore Elito sprinting in to get through on goal and fire a harmless shot over.

Agree also Newport will stay up.

Have a look at the penalty again. You will be hard pressed to see a more ridiculous decision all season. And the referee was five yards away with an unimpeded view. Feel like we've been well and truly 'done' tonight, particularly as we could have been given a penalty just after. Agree with your assessment about carving out only the one really good chance. Good luck for the rest of the season and play off push

Yeah you have been. Never a penalty in a million years.

Couldn't really tell whether or not it was a penalty at the time from where I was, but having seen the replay....very, very soft in my view.

I thought the first half was pretty even, but with Orient definitely on top second half, despite that I still felt reasonably comfortable we would hold out for the draw as the defence seemed relatively solid - Hughes looked a lot better at the back with Jones alongside him.

Good luck to Orient, be interesting to see how Nolan fares, so far so good results-wise (sadly for us tonight)....onto Morecambe for us, who we are definitely long overdue some good fortune against.

Thought Jones was better than Hughes, but both played pretty well. Byrne had another good game, as well as the aforementioned Rodman. Elito and Klukowski were shocking.

... and there you pinpoint the key factor as to whether we stay up, or go down. I think the defence is sorted, we're not good enough to score lots of goals but we will score enough, but we have a one man midfield. Byrne has no protection, and is too often charging around, trying to do the work of two men. We need some experienced midfielders who are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the dirty work in e middle of the park and Elito and Kuklowski just don't cut it in is respect. Sort the midfield and we will stay up.

Orient were ok but we made it to easy for them in the second half.

Seen the penalty again, very soft, can see why the ref gave it giving his position. Still, very generous though.
