Good that you know. Clarke in for a big year. Can see Rowe getting 20 easy aswell. Most other years I'd be confident about a good year but this league is dynamite this year, so many good squads, and not just meaning the big names
I agree I think under normal circumstances this team would be good enough to win this league - but this season looks ridiculously tough. Think we will be in and around the top 5.

Right now considering injuries I'd imagine it'll be something like...

McKeown
Efete----Pearson----Longe-King----Crookes
Clifton----Coke----Fox
McAtee----Adlard----Sousa

Front three is absolutely ragtag right now without LJL, Taylor, Wright and Scannell. Almost worth not doing as we'll surely be bringing in another striker. Don't think McAtee is a wide player from what I've seen/read. Adlard is a kid, but we don't have a fit number 9.
How’s Efete doing? As long as you are attacking, which you should be on the front foot most games, he will be excellent. Defending isn’t his thing though

Reid and Little would be in but both look to have long ish term injuries. Still struggling to fill a bench at the moment so expect a few more signings in the next fortnight, mostly loans.

Wakefield was shocking for us. Totally disinterested.

He’s actually been one of the positives for us so far in pre season, certainly doesn’t look disinterested. Sarll did say in an interview that he has to change most parts of his game before starting regularly for us!

Seems like we have a few injuries, 6 or 7 players missing from yesterday’s friendly. Kewell has come out stating we are still trying for 3 or 4 more.

I think Harry Taylor will start over Payne if he can get himself fit in time.

We still need a new starting GK (obviously) and a temporary backup while we wait for Askew and Azaze to get fit. Would also like a more dynamic centre mid and a target man up top.

Didn't realise you'd signed Bloomfield. How's he done in pre season?

They had a hard on for the manager at one point but I say this with the utmost sincerity, there isn't a single player they'd want from us

That's a bit harsh. We've just hammered Crawley 1-0. No team at this level is going to pull that out the bag in the league this year.

Lewis will almost certainly start, the management team wouldn't have given him so much game time pre-season as a wing back for them not to put that into practice against Woking. I hope not as it's a plan that's almost certainly destined to backfire.

Rhys Browne will likely start up front with Umerah, Fasanmade on the bench. Trialist C referenced above is one of interest for the Halifax and Woking supporters on here, his name's been mentioned on our forum.

I'm not really one for keeping up with form of players that closely in pre-season to be honest, mate. However, he's started our last two matches (both 1-0 away wins at Alfreton and Boston) with his main competition, Ryan Sears, starting on the bench both times so it's looking like he might start the season for us. Will be interesting to see if he improves defensively under Hurst as he's very much a build-from-the-back sort of manager as opposed to on-the-front-foot.

Charlie Cooper. Good luck with that one. Was awful for us. Normally there’s very split opinions on our forum about players but no one was bothered in the slightest when he left. We’ve replaced him with much better players.

Fair to say that we are looking very light on talent at present. Hopefully Searle pulls his finger out and gets a few more players in before August 21st. Expect the team against Chesterfield to look like this;

GK: Mitch Walker

RWB: George Fowler
CB: Kodi Lyons-Foster
CB: Kevin Lokko
CB: Giles Phillips
LWB: Lewis Kinsella

CM: Toby Edser
CM: Alfy Whittingham
CM: Jayden Harris

ST: Corie Andrews
ST: Mo Bettamer

Subs: Can only assume it will be a bunch of youth squad kids or new signings at this rate.

Defence looks ok, but midfield is very weak. Not feeling confident ahead of this season

I think we’re weak at middle centre back, I also think Mcmahon might play 3 up top with Balanta just behind McCallum and Josh Walker, which would be to flamboyant as the side lacks pace to deal with anyone good at counter attacking. With two midfielders injured Rance and Phipps although not starters I would expect us to sign one more or take a loan for a couple of months as cover. We’ve also signed another forward in Aaron Blair who is one to watch. Our first game at Stockport is a free hit, don’t expect anything from the game. We have Wrexham away in September so the two hardest games on paper out the way early.

I hadn't really looked at the schedule before now but there are a couple of pretty big games in the first few weekends. You at Stockport on the opening weekend looks a trickier opening game thab you'd both want and then on the 30th we play Notts County and Grimsby are at Stockport.

Not bothered about playing anyone else, Notts don’t seem to be pulling up any trees signing players and Grimsby have just come down so it’s always difficult to bounce straight back with lots of new players.

Teams that have kept their core team usually do fairly well, hence why I have tipped Chesterfield over the easy picks. As always one team might completely come from nowhere, probably lesser chances of a Sutton this season due to the spending of the top teams as one of them must surely come good.

I'd take what John Still says very seriously.

After we beat Dagenham away he had his prophet in the cave moment and said we'd win the play offs.

He knows the score.

You're probably right there, and Stockport have a greater continuity- they are 18 months ahead of us after all. It might take us a little while to click which may cost us a chance of contesting the title, amd thats even assuming we do have the right blend of players/manager etc.

I think your manager could tip the balance in your favour, whilst not experienced at this level he knows how to get a team working hard which is 80% of the game at this level. This level is about winning a battle more than playing teams of the park, only occasionally does a team with quality win out as they mostly have to settle for play offs.

Could go either way with Parkinson. Early signs are good though. We have a clear game plan and way of playing he's put in place. The players also look fitter than they have for years. Obviously he 'doesn't know the league' so its really going to come down to how much that matters.

It looks good doesn't it. I'd possible start King over Carline or maybe even Carling at CB instead of Kerr - he's looked a bit unfit so far in pre season, albeit coming back from a nasty injury.

It certainly does. I think I agree on Carline starting, he’s our POTY at the end of the day. Guess the final PSF against Vale will determine who’s starting at Aldershot depending on their performances…

This should be easy with only 16 players.

Johnson
Senior Maher Bradbury Trialist
Spence Summerfield
Slew Warburton/Gilmour Allen
Waters

Yes you did read that right we have no right back 9 days before the first game. We also only have those 2 centre backs and only that 1 striker.. phenomenal pre season once again. Maidenhead might as well have a bye we ain't ready. Played 3 pre season games that's it. Even those were riddled with trialists throughout.
