Resident Evil Code Veronica X.

As this wasn't a numbered Resi, back when I was a teen I assumed this was one of the naff first person shooters. However, I had a game voucher to use up so bought it. Best decision ever and remains one of my favourite games to date.

Resident Evil Code Veronica. Little-known...

At the time I bought it, it wasn't particularly well known as it wasn't a numbered entry in the series. Over the years, it's gained more popularity.

I've tried to get it known about here afew times, but Valiant Hearts: The Great war is a superb game considering no one knows about it.

Subway Vigilante on the Amstrad was one I used to love or Rockstar ate my hamster.....how that has NEVER been remade I don't know.

megadrive I'd agree on world of illusion which was superb, or Mega'Lo'Mania

Playstation probably Tenchu Stealth Assassin....although I think they did a couple of crap sequels which murdered that one.

Evil Genius is also a superb PC game I still recommend to anyone.....it has never dated.

We've all got the odd one surely - maybe it's a game you found trawling the pre-owned section of your local Game or something along those lines - basically, a game you didn't really have high hopes for but which ended up surpassing your expectations by far.

I have two examples here. The first one is Golden Sun - an RPG for the Gameboy Advance I bought when I was but a sprog. A turn-based RPG which combined an intelligent battle system with some fascinating puzzle-solving and collecting, it was both a challenge and a thrill (especially at a young age - I was stuck on one bit early on for about a month that, looking back, was hilariously easy). There ended up being three Golden Sun games; two for the GBA and one for the Nintendo DS. Probably my favourite gaming series ever.

My second one is another turn-based RPG called Lost Odyssey on the Xbox 360. An employee at Gamestation recommended this one to me after I told him I was looking for a long RPG to get stuck into and it didn't disappoint, it had four discs! It took me probably 45 hours to complete the main quest and I enjoyed the entirety of it (not bad for £15). I love RPGs which try to do something different with a classic recipe and the Ring system as well as the levelling/technique-learning system in this game set it apart from others as well as the moving storyline.

What about you lot? Any hidden gems?

I was going to say Lost Odyssey as soon as I saw this thread title, loved that game, I absolutely battered it.

I also had Golden Sun which I really enjoyed as well. The GBA was a very under-rated console imo.

Also, not sure how well-known they are but I bought one of the Tropico games the other year and it was quality, Tropico 3 I think it was.

Tropico is awesome! Like Sim City, only you get to be a stereotypical corrupt dictator type.

Also, good shout on Tenchu dave... used to love those games!

Dunno if it fits into 'little known' category but Brute Force for the first Xbox was the shit.

The initial release of Code Veronica on the Dreamcast garnered quite a lot of hype. Virtually every media outlet gave it 9/10 or 10/10. I think it may even have been a launch title if memory serves me right.

In that case, it must have been because I was pretty young that I didn't know of it. Obviously no internet to hype games back then.

My abiding memory of Code Veronica is buying it years after it came out and almost been refused on the basis of my age- even though I was 19 at the time and it had a 15 certificate- only to find that the first disc was scratched to fuck and my Dreamcast couldn't read it. I only completed it for the first time very recently and still haven't played the Gamecube remake :/

Survival horror turn based RPG. Sorta like a Silent Hill game with the Final Fantasy's battle system. Twas a really good game
I was trying to think of the name of that game the other week, took me ages to remember it. I remember liking it but got stuck at a certain point.

Didn't it have about 6 discs as well?

I think it was four discs. Quite a lot for a game. I remember only the 1FF games having as many discs.

Doesn't really count now, but I got rocket league all the way back when it was free on PSN. 2 years later and I'm still playing, albeit nowhere near as much (the community is ass).
