I was hoping for something different than last season, but I should have known better really. It started quite well, then United did what Mourinho teams do when playing away from home against a big team. It's why I have never, or will ever, respect him as a manager. He might win trophies and has managed big clubs, but when you manage a team as big and as successful as United but start numerous games each season knowing you will not only be happy with a draw but have your team actively play for one, you don't deserve to be viewed as anything but a bit of a coward for me.

That he comes across as an arrogant, miserable cnut doesn't help either of course.

I remember last year for the exact same game (this might have been a rerun to rest players), my main criticism against United was that they'll never, ever win a football match this way. This was their sixth away game against the top four rivals under Mourinho and their sixth without a win. At the end of the season it'll be ten without a win, with the most expensive team ever assembled.

He does what he does but he doesn't deserve much credit for it. Pretty much any team in the league can get a point by playing a low block against us, unfortunately.

We have improved so much in the games against the rest of the league that he still has my support but God I wish we woild go for it a bit more.

Prudence is fine but keeping Young on instead of going for it with Martial and Rashford was a bit too defensive. Basically we never even tried to win other than a fluke.

Its a shame as Van Gaal by and large had us set up brilliantly in big games but was awful against the rest. If only we could combine the two.

You also have to wonder what United fans think, deep down. They can't be happy seeing a team as expensive as this playing shit, pragmatic football simply because they're playing away from home against a team he deems dangerous. In some ways he's a glorified David Moyes, more concerned with not losing than winning.

It's also why they won't win the league. City or Chelsea would have never done what United did today. And ok it might leave them open for conceding more often in such games and perhaps even losing occasionally, but overall I have no doubt they will pick up more points from them which could likely be the difference.
