Sakho always looked so dodgy though, I don't think any Liverpool defence in him looked solid. I think they rode their luck with him.

Perhaps, the sample size is obviously too small to gauge. He was very dodgy up until january/february, but whether the following period was simply a patch of form or something that genuinely changed for the better we'll probably never know. Sakho will probably never play for us again.

But it's obvious that Sakho's disappearance has nothing to do with his performances on the pitch.
Actually it's painfully obvious it is. If Sakho were a top class cb he wouldn't have been left out in the cold. His indiscretion would have been overlooked without doubt.

That was a frustrating result. Shouldn't have slacked off after Lallana's opener, and shouldn't have conceded either goal.

Sakho's much better than some here suggest, but that's a pointless 'discussion' to get into and rendered even more so as he's persona non grata.

Don't think we slacked off after the first goal. It was clearly a Keeper error that brought them back into the game. We were much much better in the 2nd half and probably should have won the game.

Were he world class, maybe. But he was one of the first names on the team sheet and one of our top performers, then he got banned and followed it up by getting sent home from the tour. Since he's been nowhere near the bench. So I'd say it's fair to say his performances on the pitch has nothing to do with it, even if it possibly would have been overlooked for some other player. But even then, we don't know that either.

Maybe?

If Sakho was world class he would be playing centre back for you right now if not playing for a better side. No maybe about it.

Oh yes, it's very comparable to a completely different situation under another manager. Especially since neither you, me or JimJams have any idea what Sakho actually did to receive this treatment.

Either way, he wasn't dropped for his performances on the pitch; which is true even if world class performances would have changed the outcome. Because =/= affect.

Sakho is a good defender (albeit he never was Koscielny level as some asserted :fish:). He's had dodgy spells, but every defender will. Defending well requires at least 6-7 dedicated players, but CBs in sides that concede too many inevitably take the blame. He might be the most naturally talented of Liverpool's CBs, but I don't think the last two weeks would have been much different had he been in the side.

Probably not. We've been shit defensively (in comparison to our midfield and attack) ever since Rafa left. That's like 6 managers and 154 defenders.
