The site for the new ground is very close to the train station and Arndale etc so there will be a lot of pubs much, much closer to the ground than currently for sure.
If theres any pubs left bu time stadium is built. Mate down there said even weatherspoons has shut down

Having looked at this pictures of the enabling development, I'm going to revise up how much this whole project is going to cost - going to be at least £125m the whole project. It looks simply awesome:

These architects also worked on Doncaster's new stadium, The Valley and The Hive.

Been away for a while so missed all this.

The whole plan or the town, not just the stadium, seems really positive. Really happy that those in charge are actually trying to do something positive for a change and give Luton the investment it has needed for so long. Really pleased that the club and Gary Sweet are seemingly at the very heart of it too.

With the location of the town and the seemingly ever growing importance of London it's a great opportunity. I desperately hope this happens but as always am cautious about anything good happening, it's good such good news to see in looking for a catch somewhere!

Massive +1. My mate has lived in luton all his life and is cheesed off about way town has declined and lack of progress over years. Jurys out on this guided bus way but with stuff like this going on it may turn out to be a useful thing

The misguided busway will run pretty much behind the site for the ground between the town center and Parkway train stations. Presumably there will be a new stop put in for the new ground which could be very useful.

The misguided busway is very very busy, but £80m was a lot of money for what essentially is a bus route.

The plan, I believe, is to build an extra couple of rail platforms, next to the stadium, for use during matchdays only.

Just s concept I've not really thought/heard of before. I just have images of the 2012 film tsunami sweeping across the outskirts of Luton and the ground becoming their newest outdoor swimming pool.
Ah right, well at stadium:mk, ground level is the concourse area between the two tiers.

According to 'Think Luton'; the council scheme which showcased all of these projects in London a couple of weeks ago, the total cost of the entire project is £150 million! :eyes:

Any club (or has any club) in the Football League investing more money in something like this?

According to this article...
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...paul-fletcher-has-helped-to-build-503600.html

...the Ricoh Arena cost £113m to build. Adjusted for inflation, that would be over £150m today. I don't know the details but I can only assume that this figure must include more than just the construction of the ground itself as it dwarfs comparable stadium build costs over the past decade or so (the next closest is Brighton's which according to Wikipedia was £93 million).

Obviously that £150m for our "project" includes a lot more than the ground itself, and the idea is that the first big investment makes enough profit to partially cover the rest. Fingers crossed that works out as planned...!

It was confirmed at the weekend that planning applications for the stadium complex and enabling development will be submitted by the end of June. The public consultation will begin a week Saturday for 8 days - I'm going to make a point of getting myself to one of these events. Previous to this presentations from project management will take place next week with the main supporters groups which will the outline plans. It just looks immense. I'm so looking forward to this becoming a reality:

http://2020developments.co.uk/

http://www.andarchitects.co.uk/junction-10-luton/

The Newlands Park development just looks unbelievable - its going to make us a shed load of cash. The board's projections for the residental sales were purchases for £100,000 apiece (2 years ago) - equivalent property is now going at 50% higher in the town.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this is one of the biggest summers in the club's history - this is probably our last chance.

Im going to try and get down for one at the Eric Morecambe, failing that I'll go to the Hat Factory. Really need to push this, make everyone in the town not associated with the town what a great thing this could be.

Yeah I'm going to try for one of the Eric Morecambe ones too (you don't have to pre-book these ones right, just turn up on the day?). Maybe the TiL one as well if it isn't booked up already, I know that one you have to get e-mail confirmation of a place in advance.

Possibly asking a stupid question here so apologies, but does anyone know the opening and more specifically the closing times of the exhibitions? I cannot make the weekend dates but was hoping to nip to one during the week after work.

Have looked in a few places and cannot seem to find any information.

There haven't been any opening times given, but at a guess I'd say they'd go on through the evening as well as office hours, to try and get as many people through the doors as possible. This needs to be backed and supported by EVERYONE.

Can this only be done in person or is there an online version for the many overseas or distanced Hatters. If not maybe one of the suggestions in someones ear?

All planning applications have to be published online, so you'll be able to see all of the nitty gritty details. I'm hoping one of the meetings next week are streamed online too.

This seems like pretty important information to not have been made public. I'll go anyway as I want to show support, but ill be a bit miffed if I turn up and its closed especially as its 45 minute-hour drive out of my way. Likely to put off people going as well I suspect.

I wonder what it feels like to have positive news about a new stadium and know it is going to be built

Sigh.

Wash your mouth out Shrimper! We're very positive, but we've got a long way to go yet.

I just want to answer that, I am not getting too excited because this talk of a new stadium has been going on since the 60's and one thing you learn as a supporter is patience, I feel the best way is to take it step by step, when planning permission is approved then there's relief that there's light at the end of the tunnel and we're on our way out of KR.

If you mean an online version of the roadshows, I think that's one thing 2020 haven't covered. However, I am led to believe that as soon as the roadshows go live, the mailing list will get similiar info direct.

You are very right here. I hadn't even thought about this, I was just planning on turning up at normal football time but it really is an oversight. Might be worth an e-mail to 2020? In my experience, they are excellent at responding to things like this.

Does anyone know what exactly are the events at the three locations at the end of May? They've just been described as roadshows. Are they presentations like the Trust one this tuesday where there will be a talk/ Q and A at a particular time or are they just exhibitions of the stadium and development models that you can wander in and look at at any time during the day?

There's very little information about those events as yet.

I think the roadshow will be the same as the the Trust and LL presentations, everything you have just described will be at these events.

Anyone on here go to the LTST presentation yesterday? I've heard it was impressive stuff, I'm looking forward to seeing the displays at one of the events next week.
