I know you should keep a stiff upper lip
but I can't believe how we've let it slip,
we were one of the favorites and well worth a bet
end of season celebration plans were planned and set,
but football is a game with an uncanny knack
of turning your emotions from optimism to cack,
for most of the season we were poised to progress
unfortunately there was one thing we failed to address,
a descant replacement for andy gray up front
was sorely missed to give our play off hopes a shunt,
our lack of goals and losing games after being ahead
means promotion was not deserved and its disappointment instead,
so well done to those who achieved their dreams
and proved that preseason hype is not all that it seems,
for Luton its time to sit down and assess
how we can take the next step and limit the stress,
on our loyal fans who have stuck with their team through thick and thin
traveling up and down the country in large numbers regardless of a previous loss or win,
maybe this season will be seen as a sign of what could be done
and next year will be our time for getting to league one!!!???

well there's no need for crying in our beer
cause its actually not been that bad a year.
to get so close to realising our dreams
will have to wait till next season so it seems.
its truly been like a rollercoaster
and to the top three-I'd like to toast ya.
I can't wait for next season to start
with all the stress put on my heart.
following Luton has seen ups and downs
attracting all sorts of comments from some of you clowns.
it doesn't matter which team you support
or if your home ground wasn't such a fort.
the bond that keeps us all together
is that we appreciate our teams endeavour.
so I would like to be the first to say
we will have to wait for our day.
let those who survived raise a glass

It was always assumed that we'd be building on the penalty area when developing the NRE. We did move the pitch close to it (and 20 yds from the home fans) for a few seasons when plans were in place for new NRE stand, hotel (spa, nursery, strip club, chip shop and various other fantasies). That was when I moved my season ticket from the NRE to the Habbin. I seem to remember the pitch being longer at one stage as well.

It's a pet hate of mine , unneccesarry gaps between fans and pitch, notable offenders , Arsenal , Donny, Leicester , Coventry and a few others
