Looking forward to this one. Cambridge should muster around 900 (insert picture of very small cabbages) and it's been nice being in the same division as a friendly rival we haven't seen for a while.

Expecting Nolan to bring Cheeky Gnando into the side for his full debut, as well as replacing our tame baby giraffe with loanee Shaun Brisley. The fat West Ham lad will start on the bench again.

You can add another one who's looking forward to this, in all our time in that hell hole this is the game I missed the most, more than the pish!!

Anyway, the game, looks like bbbc will miss the rest of season and us as supporters can write this one off, we're ok but that's it and I worry for Derry tactically.

Think we've been given 1300 tickets and if be disappointed if we didn't sell them all but hardly surprised if we didn't as we're playing poo.

Can any of you o's tell me of a little social club near the ground? It's where we used to have our prematch drinks but I can't remember for the life of me what it was called or where it actually was/is, just remember it being a short walk and a bloody good craic.

Cheers.

Gabbages.

We've sold 900 and I think it's pay on the day so we should fill it.

This game is 99% about the drinking and 1% about the football, can't wait.

First visit to Brisbane Road for me, and I have a chauffeur, so what's not to look forward to?

Looks like Simpson and Williamson up front, with little in reserve, unless the Derry contacts can deliver more than the disappointing (so far) Aherne-Grant. We'll travel in hope rather than expectation and be satisfied with anything we can get from the day. Reasonable chance of around 1,200 U's fans and head says 3-1 home win.

Nolan apparently wants to add two more players before the window shuts, so will be interesting to see if we bring in anyone else. Already our squad looks a lot stronger than it did a few weeks ago. May almost be confident of getting a draw here!

Nolans improved a few things, but we still look vulnerable.

We will always create chances with Simpson, McAnuff & Jhraldo-Martin in the team - although CJM is still a bit raw, but he's better than Turgott.

I'd 100% start Brisley over Essam, but I doubt Nolan will change the team.

I see Barry Corr is out injured still? Great player for this level, just always injured!

Last time here at Brisbane Road it was 1-1 eleven years ago now.

Yeah I can't wait for this one either, was the game I looked for as soon as the fixtures were announced and I sacked off Crawley and Luton (not difficult decisions) to make sure I could do this one.

Last time round in 2005 we drew 1-1 and 2 sides of Brisbane Road were being rebuilt so our away allocation was reduced and I ended up sitting in the home end behind the goal amongst loads of gobby chavs from east London. When we scored late on, you could see all these pockets of U's fans celebrating. Was a "moment". Shame we ultimately got relegated. If I remember rightly Lockwood scored a cracking free kick but I can't remember who scored for us.

We'll probably lose but it's not about that now. It's practically pressure free football for the rest of the season. We've underachieved but we're safe barring a collapse of epic proportions, can just enjoy games now.

I've been trying to decide if I want to go or not. Maybe if we had signed a couple more people - a winger to go on the other side as Dunk at least - I would.

I can't really see us winning with who we have and I don't want to break my not seen Cambridge lose away record.

2-1 to Orient.

.....but you have to realise that either:

a) The record has nothing to do with the current form/quality of side that we put out - it's just down to the voodoo that you bring to the occasion.

or

b) You need to break the record if you are going to enjoy the full experience of being part of the travelling amber army - did you give Old Trafford a miss to preserve the record?

Carlisle, Morecambe, York, Wimbledon and Plymouth away were among the best games of the season so far. Were any of them down to you - if so, a thousand thanks.

See, I was the opposite - until December, I'd seen 2 wins and something absurd like 9 defeats. But ultimately your attendance has very little to do with the outcome of the game and you get over the concept of yourself being a voodoo.

Of course it's just a coincidence (and meant as a bit of a joke). I do try to go whenever I'm free and can afford to.

Hold on a sec Laker. Surely this is the same thing as the Stoke/Doncaster cup tie and how we wouldn't have been drawn to play Stoke if we had gone through. Something about the butterfly effect and how pronouncing 'Cambridge United' takes more time than 'Doncaster Rovers'? ;)

As for the game itself, regardless of whether Sam is attending or not, I think this will be a high scoring match, ie either a 2-2 draw or a 3-1 Orient win.

Yes it is exactly like that. And my thought on that was that we'd have drawn Stoke anyway in the same way that Cambridge would lose anyway regardless of if I'm there or not. ie logic consistent. :)

Yep, fantastic Laker. LO are always top of my list when it comes to those sides I'd most like us to beat. In this division mind you :)

To watch us lose the game with 3 clear individual errors - two from the same player is frustrating, because we're always capable of scoring goals, the game was killed off at 3-1.

I don't think either keeper made a proper save, all 4 goals were down to horrendous defending.

Thought Gnanduillet was fouled in the build up to the 3rd, doesn't excuse the poor defending though.

Referee was also appalling, he got so many decisions wrong. His booking for Cambridges Luke Berry for handball in the first half was the worst I thought.

Well, that was fucking gift wrapped.

Have to agree - but it was still a good away performance and was fun from where we were standing/sitting.

I hope sam95 was there to enjoy that. Early goal on a plate to ease our (non-existent) nerves, MoM performance from Williamson, goal with his first touch from Sir Jimmy Spencer and magisterial performance from fan's favourite Josh Coulson. Orient certainly looked to have players who can score and Gnando seemed to offer more spice than Conference-standard Palmer when he came on - but on this occasion there were few real chances created. Most of their threat came from corners or diagonal balls into the box and ours from quick breaks. Once we had the first, I expected us to get more chances on the break and I'm looking forward to the style of play that Williamson/Spencer will dictate in the absence of BB Corr for the season. My July forecast of Berry top scorer still looks an evens bet.

Mates on the journey down were sharing my view of a nice relaxing no pressure end to the season. We hadn't got to the Tube home before it was all: "3 winnable matches coming up," "play-offs are doable again,"...etc, etc. We all know, in our heart of hearts, that we are quite capable of screwing up home matches against D&R or York.

Ebbsfleet have a fair bit of money right?

Seems like the perfect place to dump Connor Essam.

Seems like the perfect place to dump Connor Essam.

Thing is, I've seen Dover a few times this year and they have a lad Sean Raggett who is better than Essam in every single department. It's staggering we paid a fee for a Conference centre back and didn't take Dover's best one... Heck, I could probably name a central defender from every Conference club that I've seen* who could probably do as good a job as Essam.

At Braintree in the pre season friendly I think I turned round to you after five minutes of play and said he wasn't good enough. There was a moment when the Braintree striker was played in and Essam made a last ditch tackle people were absolutely creaming themselves over, despite Essam's woeful positioning allowing him in. And it's staggering Hendon has gone along and given him a contract.

In fact, looking at Hendon's permanent (and Payne) signings:

Cisak - Hit. But wasn't he recommended by Nugent and Romano?
Clohessy - I genuinely think people go way OTT on the criticism of him. I quite like him, adds a fair amount going forward and I'm fine with him doing that, I like an offensive full back. The problem is though when he pushes up noone has the nous to think, right, SC has pushed up, maybe I should drop back into that area. When he's in position defensively I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as most people make out.
Essam - Yah...
Dunne - Double yah...
Shaw - People either appear to overrate him (MOTM on Tuesday, u wot m7+1?) or underrate him. He's a young lad coming into senior professional football for the first time. Has something about him but I don't think he's quite there yet. Improved a lot throughout the season, has a future.
Moore - I think you know my feelings on Moore, don't rate him in the slightest.
Payne - Someone people seemed to love, which was OTT, now we're talking about him not being good enough. That's bollocks. Noone seems to pick out his actual weaknesses though, he's rash, commits himself too easily, isn't disciplined defensively enough. Given I've been one of his biggest critics I think, I do like him. Not sure he's an improvement on Lloyd James, not sure I'd take him over Woodyard (who would have been cheaper) either who from what I've seen probably makes my Conference team of the season and is hugely vital in Braintree's play-off hopes.
Turgott - Failed to make any sort of mark at Coventry. They lad isn't league standard, expect him to rock up at Dulwich within the next two years.
Palmer - Wasn't even the best target man to leave Mansfield in the summer. Honestly not even sure he's at a decent Conference level. Maybe would add something to Welling. But then I'm not sure they're Conference level. I know he had a decent run at Grimsby, but there's really nothing about him.
McCallum - His goal scoring record was decent, but honestly I really did not like his movement and contribution to the play, his positioning and movement in the box wasn't great. People will chuck stones at me I think, but I'm going to go on record and say even with a full season under his belt he won't be good enough.

A very enjoyable day out. The best away day of the season rounded off with a great performance from everyone leading us into games at home to D&R, Stevenage and York. 9 points required if we have any chance of gatecrashing the play off's.

Special mention to Williamson and Coulson who were superb yesterday. Up the U's.

He looked good when he came on but I wouldn't read too much into the fact his name was on the scoresheet - I'd have fancied my nan to put that away, bless her.

Quality day out at hotel orient, our high pressured game was to much to handle and it was a throughly deserved 3pts.

Cant fault any of our players, we looked a team who really are united with everybody covering when needed, special mentions to King leon(as usual) coulsonbauer on first game back, Williamson who certainly convinced me he's decent and lil lu bez who was my motm, despite nolans best effort at taking him out! Shyster.

I do hope you're right. He will certainly get chances playing with Williamson and Berry.
