Most big games including Mourinho are, to be fair. To call him out on it is odd.

He said it with such certainty - after City looked much improved against West Brom and Chelsea looking poor in both pre-season and the first match.

Pointing out when Saltire gets things wrong is one of my hobbies, cut me some slack.

City were impressive, Chelsea were shite. Aguero could have had a hat trick in the first half, Kolarov missed a pretty easy chance - it could have feasibly been 6-0.

Not the best of starts to the season for Chelsea!

Overall, it was a good game, not at all the snoozefest many (BILO AND STEVEN EXCLUDED) predicted. I really, really hope Agüero somehow manages to stay fit this season. Would be interesting to see what kind of goal tally he can produce over 30-odd games. Suarez scored 31 in 33 in his final season, Agüero could definitely come close to that.

Aside from that, Chelsea were woeful but they're much better than this. I wouldn't be worried at all but I look forward to some knee jerkers half-predicting that Chelsea could miss out on top four.

I wonder who Mourinho will blame this time? Chelsea's coach driver for doing 85 up the M1 perhaps.

I think Kompany looked a lot like his old self today, made few mistakes and looked very assertive. Costa didn't bother him much at all. That's the biggest positive for City in my book, his form affects their overall defensive play a lot.

Yaya Touré did perfectly well also.

The Terry sub is a bizarre thing as he is still a far superior defender than Cahill. It was Cahill getting turned inside out by Aguero all game not him. And Zouma has not showed anything apart from being a bit of a hoofing lump when I've seen him.

So glad I was however many ft in the air flying back from Ireland instead of watching this.

I feel sorry for Mourinho, this squad needed improving over the summer and the club have let him down massively. That said Mourinho needs to take responsibility for how we play. I've not seen any games this season (I was at the glorified friendly at Wembley) but I've read/heard we've been pretty lacklustre. We've got players there well able of playing decent attacking football but we continue to play such a bland style of football.

I mentioned a lot towards the end of last season that we had not played well since Swansea away back in January...that hasn't changed. We fell over the line last season...that won't work again this season.

I'm writing off this season for me personally...I'll be somewhere in asia/Australia for the majority of it so as far as I'm concerned i really don't care.

I don't buy that. If Mourinho believed the squad needed improvement I have little doubt he would have been provided the means to do so had he asked.

As for writing this season off, what a ridiculous statement after two games even if you won't be watching it.

That was pretty wank - weren't too awful second half but, by then, the damage was done. Unfortunately, this is exactly the start I feared we may have. Haven't addressed the obvious deficiencies in the squad over the summer (which is weird) and the players simply don't look fully fit (which is unacceptable). Still so very early but worryingly reminiscent of Mourinho's third season last time round.

No idea why everyone's written City off. They'll win the league this season.

I cared very little about the season before the last 2 games.

I've got my season ticket until the new year and then I fly to Hong Kong on January the 4th and the last thing on my mind will be football.

Watching highlights now..
Had no idea city were expanding the ground let alone that it was finished already, looks pretty decent. Are they doing the same for the other end and what will it hold?

What was that about this game being a boring, slow-paced, snooze-fest of a game, Saltire?

Meh if the game had been played another 10 times, then 9 of them would have been dull. Thank god for Pellegrini's attacking style even when it is naive, at least he goes for it.

He's not watching, surely.

And I wasn't, was out having a fish supper in Arbroath and it was fantastic! :D
