That was outSTANDING. Absolutely shut them down, they created almost nothing. Cazorla, Coquelin and Bellerin were all brilliant. Great performance, and haha Silkyman.

A lot will be made of Toure missing, but city really missed Nasri today.
Brilliant by Arsenal. No idea when I last saw them so dogged, energetic and organised in a big game. Ramsay ran himself into the ground

Personally thought Arsenal deserved that and that City were quite poor today without Toure and a match fit Aguero. Take nothing away though - excellent performance and victory! It'l be one of 'those' games to look back on for Wenger now and point back to it everytime Arsenal have a big game.

Tactical stroke of genius by Wenger. City were poor but you cant take anything away from Arsenal there. Had the 'pundits' baffled as well. Fair play Arsenal and decent game for the neutral.

Pretty sure we won't see Ramsey again for about six weeks now.

I didn't expect to win the Wilson bet. Let's go again :)
My money is that, assuming Walcott giroud and Ox are healthy, welbeck will be benched next year....

Rosicky has always had quality, shame he had so many injury problems after he signed to arsenal

Naw, everyone will spend time on the bench, too difficult to prove.

How about Welbz getting to 15 goals in all comps this season? (He's currently on 7).

Fuckin' hell, how good were Arsenal! Fair play to them, even I was actually quite chuffed for them (and Claude!) with that performance. If they can play like that in the big games away from home, they may actually have a more realistic shot at the title in future!

City were woeful though, although to a large extent they weren't allowed to play. They can't get beat against Chelsea at the Bridge, otherwise this league is over already.

Yeah City were poor, really missed Yaya Toure's drive through the middle. The Fernands are very prosaic in comparison. We have had other teams play as badly as that and still let them win tho, so that was real refreshing. I think we tried a similar gameplan at Chelsea and Liverpool this season but didn't quite get it right (Chelsea in particular were completely untroubled by it). Hopefully we can get something from both WHL and Old Trafford, our two toughest remaining away games.

The result and performance really does change the perspective on the rest of the season. If we can keep everyone (or even most players...) fit now (yeah lol), with Monaco and potentially Porto/Basel in the Champions League, and an FA Cup to defend, we could have a storming second half of 2014-15.

Or Koscielny will get injured and we'll sign no cover, in which case it'll all go to shit.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
The striker problem came to a head as it was clear that Aguero wasn't match fit, so good for him to get some game time I suppose.

Bad day at the office for the first defeat since, October, but no one wins every game. Arsenal played it well, sat back deep and broke quickly. I just wish someone in blue would have had a pop from long range.

Meh. They, as the saying goes, go again.

That ball by Rosicky at 10:50 was fucking devine. Shame it was to Flamini.

I've never seen a footballer as adept as Rosicky at the outside-the-boot curled pass. Wonderful player. He is an adept tackler and his range of passing and quick turns allow us to transition into attack efficiently.

Giroud and Monreal were both class on Sunday, too. Giroud's close control from Ospina's kicks was brilliant. Monreal played as well defensively as I've ever seen from him. Loads of intriguing position battles for Wenger: Ospina/Szczesny, Gibbs/Monreal, Bellerin/Chambers, Rosicky/Ramsey/Cazorla, Özil/Cazorla, Walcott/OX.

Amazing battle for places... have to say, Sczcesny faces a battle to get his place back... Wilshere, Walcott, Gibbs, Arteta, Chambers also not getting into that side without a big fight. Should be fantastic for the team.

I keep hearing he's been dropped for the season. If we see him start in the FA Cup then he will effectively be our number 2. (He he)

I thought Monreal still looked like a liability, so if Gibbs can't immediately oust him it says more about Gibbs.

Rosicky can be a fantastic player and I remember back in about 2007 him and Fabregas were played as a midfield two at times (I think Silva was injured and was just before Flamini's rise to prominence) and Rosicky was a complete all rounder. Shame about his injuries.

I think Monreal suits being played at CB more than LB. I think that's where his future lies.

he is a fucking nutter isn't he. Smoking in the changing room, sent off right away in the world cup, kicks the ball to the opposition or tries to nutmeg the opposing striker....

He is, it's nice to have Ospina in goal. Instantly you can see the difference it makes to the team when you have a calm and collected keeper at the back.

I'm one of Gibbs' biggest advocates, and do think he is our solution at LB. But Monreal, awkward sliced clearance aside, did really well at attacking aerial challenges and made a few good interceptions. He looked less sheepish, but admittedly did let the linear and predictable Navas get in a few too many crosses. Gibbs' pace would have been better there, but I think Wenger picked Monreal because he worked better with the midfield at closing down space in front of the box for Silva.

What did everyone make of Bellerin? Not that Milner posed much of a threat.

I don't think Monreal played badly on Sunday, just think his passing and understanding going forward are very average for an Arsenal full-back.
