Managers:

Steve Bruce (Hull - 13 points / 15)
Sean Dyche (Burnley - 13 points / 15)
Paul Clement (Derby - 13 points / 15)
Lee Carsley (Brentford - 12 points / 15)

Can't argue with any of those - wouldn't be surprised if any of them won it.

Players:
Alan Judge (Brentford)
Andre Gray (Burnley)
Paul Robinson (Birmingham)
Barry Bannan (Sheff Wed)

Judge would be absolutely nailed on for me - 3 goals and 4 assists, he's been on ridiculous form this month, absolutely unplayable at times (Charlton away especially). Gray has been great too, the price tag we sold him for in the summer is beginning to look a little small...

Thought one of Pickford, Wright or Woods might get a nomination after 4 clean sheets that month.

I'd go for Dyche and Gray. Dingle c***.

Not much to choose between the managers, but definitely Gray for player of the month.

Winner should be Paul Clement in my heavily biased opinion, he's had it tougher in a number of ways.

Arguably shouldn't be here (as in me on this part of the forum), but I'd be saying Carsley for turning round their form to be honest. From an outsider, it seems a lot more positive and they have had some good results and a good bit of form before the Hull game. Gray for POTM for me

Not for Clement thanks. Don't want that curse mere hours before the East Midlands Derby!

Judge and Carsley are the winners! No surprise on Judge for me, he's been phenomenal, would have been annoyed had anyone else got it. Carsley has done a great job too, but we did play 4 very poor sides in a row, and some of the other managers have had great months also.

I guess he's been given it for turning us around quite so emphatically, and I can't really argue with that.

Yeah, must be hard being a manager of a team that has been bought for 20-30m beating teams that in retrospect don't have a pot to piss in.

Sounds like the right winners to me. Are Brentford promotion contenders again now?

Not yet - we've still got a bit to go before we mat h last season's form. That said, we seem stronger at the back but unfortunately aren't quite as potent up top. With Jota, McEachran and McLeod back in the side, plus Collin in at right back, and I think we might be a tough side to beat. That injury crisis of a few months back made things difficult, but hopefully it'll mean we're still under the radar as we were last season initially.

Good to see those two pick up the awards; Judge has been incredible this last month!

Thought you had stopped crying about this but obviously not.

Compared to teams who "don't have a pot to piss in" it doesn't particularly look good obviously.

In comparison with the other managers up for this award (which is why we're here, right?) I think he's done a pretty good job. Whilst Brucie and Dyche have started well too they have both been at their respective clubs for a few years now giving them that stability and time. They have their own squads, both have spent similar if not more assembling said squads, both managed in England before never mind the championship, both have the experience of being promoted from this division so they have plenty of know how. Big PC is not only new to this division but new to management in general so I think he's doing a good job to be keeping up the pace with the big boys.

Whilst Clement has achieved nothing yet and things could go very downhill very quickly I think he deserves some recognition for his results this month taking everything into consideration. He was a favourite for first sacking of the season by quite a few on here and he's been far from it.

Beating teams you were heavy favourites to win, he's only done what was a expected of him, nothing really impressive. I don't think it makes Clement special at all, any manager in this division could have done a similar job with your resources. If we were all lucky enough to throw around money like Derby have done in recent years I would have expected to already be in the Premier League in all honesty.

As for the award, can't argue with the Brentford duo winning it. They played us off the park at our place (not hard mind) and when they have a fully fit squad I can see them knocking on the door to the top 6.

If only things were as plain and simple as you put it. Football, especially the Championship, unfortunately isn't that straight forward. For his first 3 months in football I think he's done a sterling job so far, whether you want to acknowledge that or not is up to you. Easy to sit and just throw the typical "all that money" bollocks at him. He deserves a lot more than that. Plenty of managers before him have had good players, good teams, 'bankrolled' etc etc and have failed horrifically. Like I said, he might be a disaster in 6 months time but at this present time he deserves some credit.

Recent years? This is the first year we've spent anywhere near anything surprising so lets not go down that route again.
Expecting to be in the PL is a pretty ignorant and short sighted view, our last two season finales are typical of football at this level. It wouldn't surprise me if we failed again this year as its immensely competitive again.

I agree with you - but to be fair I don't think any team has ever been bankrolled quite as much as Derby have to date, and those that were close all went up pretty quickly.

On this seasons spending, true. But anything before that? Far from bankrolled.
If in 21 months time we still aren't in the Premier League then I'll deem it as a failure, personally. I've not been watching football for much longer than a decade but I still know that money guarantees you f-all in football.

It's that time of the month again, December nominees:

Steve Evans (Leeds)
Aitor Karanka (Middlesbrough)
Mick McCarthy (Ipswich)
Dean Smith (Brentford)

Adam Clayton (Middlesbrough)
Fernando Forestieri (Sheffield Wednesday)
Tom Ince (Derby)
Matt Mills (Nottingham Forest)

I'd be amazed if Karanka didn't win MOTM, less sure about the players. Forestieri?

Surprised Dean Smith is on there, we've not been amazing in December.

Karanka has to win, absolute certainty, I'd imagine a Boro player would win as well given their form (though didn't see any of those players in December) so will guess on Clayton.

Karanka probably form MOTM, although having the money and squad at his disposal he's only do e what has been expected him.

As much as I despise Forestieri he's the stand out contender for player of the month. Tore us apart at Hillsbrough.

I think that's a bit harsh, their results in the last month have been exceptional.

Id be annoyed if Clayton didn't win it to be honest, I don't think there's a better midfielder in the championship, although I am biased.

He's won boro player of the month 3 months in a row.

It won't be Mills, but whilst we are talking about him, he has been superb. He was a free signing and I was expecting a bit of a carthorse. He is a seriously good defender and is probably the first name on the teamsheet each week. Can't really pick a weakness I've noted so far, except for the occasional punt which ends up in the stands.

The Wednesday
Forestieri bagged five goals in December and virtually tore apart Wolves and Brum..... Deserves it IMHO.

PS can we change thread title ..... Reyt misleading
