If you've seen an "official" Facebook post ignore that. It's a fake account plus a few people on twitter mucking about trying to shift the odds. In reality no one has any idea who it will be.

Nah I just saw the odds were in to 1/10 or something, which often gives a decent indication.

We seem to have a bunch of fans who spend a lot of time (maybe even money) trying to catch out the bookies. Last time round, one of the frontrunners all along was some bloke managing a Scottish women's team!

Just a hunch, but I feel someone like Robbie Fowler is more likely. High profile but not necessarily any good.

Same here, I reckon. Our U-12 manager has leapt into the betting.

Mind you, knowing us it’ll probably be true.

Offer it to Sam Hird................As the saying goes use him or lose him

He is already there why not give him a chance

Otherwise he will be thumbing a lift to Bolton with Dixon

The guy that posts as Chris Benoit on the Barrow forum is I think a manager (or assistant manager?) at Corals and i'm pretty sure he's the one instigating the price manipulation at other bookies, along with his "fanboys" on twitter etc.

Kenny Jackett finally confirmed on 1 year rolling contract:

Heard that he wanted a top 3 budget which proved to be a stumbling block and talks broke down, the Paul Tisdale article was a smokescreen and the club opened up talks again with Jackett and all was sorted yesterday.

If Orient fans were wondering about Jackett's time at Pompey:

- First season back in League One we made some decent signings and finished 8th, seen as progress.
- Next season we built on that, finishing 4th and winning the EFL Trophy. However, we had been leading the division for more than half the season and had a massive slump in form in the winter, surrendering a 3-0 lead at Southend and then losing the play-offs meekly because Jackett decided to bench our best attacking player and then not use all of his subs available.
- We went backwards after that. Fans were calling for his head when we were 3-1 up against nine man Coventry and drew 3-3 and then lost 1-0 at Wycombe soon after. We recovered but then slumped again before losing the play-offs after Jackett inexplicably dropped our captain for Bryn Morris, who hadn't played for 18 months.
- This season was even worse. Despite recovering from a bad start again, the wheels came off in the winter and he described our 2-1 defeat to Doncaster as "a good way to lose" because we'd scored a consolation in the 94th minute. He then said our defeat to Salford in the EFL Trophy final was an improvement on a 4-1 hammering at Northampton as "we didn't lose"

His signings, both permanent and loans have got worse over time. His football style is pragmatic and dull, but will win you tight games sometimes and sometimes his post-match interviews are downright bemusing.

Who knows? He may well be a success at League Two level where expectations aren't as high as ours, but most Pompey fans would consider his four years at the club a failure.

Fantastic appointment at this level, we'll have a decent budget and I now seriously fancy us for promotion, top 7 at least.

Funny how some on our forum seem to think we can just go and appoint whoever we want from L1 or 2 now we are in the EFL, when you read some of the comments.

Don't be so sure on that. His teams are mentally weak and he's a bottler. Still, if you'd take a few of our shit players off us then I'd be grateful!

Proven track record of promotion nearly everywhere he's been and a significant upgrade for us.
Can't help but feel either it didn't quite work out for him at Pompey, or your fans expect a lot due to your recent-ish premier league history. Probably a little of both.
Aside from you (where he wasn't exactly an abject failure), he's done brilliantly, see Swansea, Wolves, Millwall, etc. So I'm more than happy.

They also just want a name they've heard of - John Sheridan, FFS.

We can only really appoint from the people that apply (there can't be many out there who are worth tapping up like Bradford do).

The first time he's failed in his managerial career I'd say is with yourselfs, after what he did for Millwall and Wolves you thought it was inevitable he'd do it at Pompey.

He probably stayed too long in the end with yourselves because I always found it odd looking on the outside how the fans were on his back, yet he always seemed to manage to get his teams to find some sort of form to keep you near the playoffs at least. 4 seasons was clearly in hindsight too long in the end for him there.

Only a one year rolling contract as well, so both sides don't want to commit long term to this at the moment until we see what happens on the pitch.

Our crowd isn't as aggressive as the previous clubs he's managed and he has a chance to literally build his own team, so if he messes up this oppotunity then he won't get many more chances left I'd have thought at 59.

The one year deal can work either way, if he does well here and we're flying and one of the bigger clubs in League One need a new manager there is every chance they could try and prize him away from us and they'll likely take him - A gamble worth taking for us to try and get him here IMO.

Time will tell, Mansfield have gambled with Clough, we've done it with Jackett.

Don't think that is any different to any other forum with the emphasis being on "some".

I would imagine near enough. $alford will of course have more, aside from that I can't think of any obvious 'big' budget teams, maybe Bradford, Mansfield, possibly Vale or FGR? Not really sure but we'll certainly spend a little over summer.
Our owners aren't ludicrously wealthy but we're well run and stable.

Mansfield started to take a different direction last summer and I think that may continue, Clough has by his own words a ‘healthy’ budget, but I don’t think we’ll be putting down 4/5k on the likes of Andy Cook and Maynard anymore.

Those sort of signings just don’t work for him, but it’s definitely going to be different, being here instead of Burton, a club a league higher but I imagine a smaller budget by a decent chunk.

Can still see us spending a little bit on a transfer or two this season, but I really trust him not to waste it away.
