Chuck in Luke Garrard too. Excels with Boreham Wood every single season, who can't quite get over the line in the playoffs for 1 reason or another.

I actually think Garrard has underperformed given their level of expenditure-- they should be play offs mimimum and he usually misses out. He's too defensive and shackles his players too much.

You must be joking about Garrard, couple of years ago Boreham Wood were miles ahead of us in the table and we play them away and he sets up for the most boring negative 0-0 you’ve ever seen, and then after that they went from play off bankers and a possible outside shot at the title to missing out on play offs completely as they shat the bed for the last 2 months of the season.
Massively overrated IMO.

This was table on 15th Feb 22, then this is the final table, worse case of bed shitting since Trainspotting.

He's overrated but not massively overrated.

Nobody ever wants to play Borehamwood, he is clearly a competent manager but his style of football is absolutely stone-age and might be why nobody in the league has ever come in for him. He was seconds away from beating the great Notts County in the playoffs.

Williamson at Gateshead is one they should definitely be looking at. Plays good football and is hugely overachieving.

He's where he should be for his talent IMO , Top 7 NL. Very effective football, tactically very good, when you are the underdog, but he's singlehandedly killing season ticket sales.for any club who takes him on.

Soooooo defensive, you certainly don't want to fall 1-0 behind against them, let alone 2-0! But without doing so I wouldn't have had the best, most dramatic , exciting and emotional 7 days as a Notts fan. And I've seen us promoted to the top division.

Once FGR paid a handsome some for our then head coach , Williamson was top of the fans list of our new boss and believe we interviewed him for the position. Instead we plumped for some strange bloke let go by Swindon. Mental.

He's overachieving, plays proper football, great shout.

Didn't you go for Parkinson at Alty first?

He could be a shout for Oldham.

Not sure the order but yes Parkinson, Williamson, some guy in the Irish League and Luke Warm. Not sure who turned down who, but we ended up with Williams who wasn't our first choice.

That's the rumour but Parkinson felt he had to stay there as they'd just turned fully pro after his badgering the owner. We also went for the Derry city manager who turned us down.

Phil Parkinson turned the offer down as managing two clubs at a time was hard enough, never mind three.

There wasn't really an order - Parkinson and the Derry City manager were both approached for an interview but turned it down, rather than being offered the job, so presumably they'd have been on a list along with Williams. We were definitely looking at Williamson as well but not sure if it got as far as an approach, would put good money on him being our next manager if and when LW moves onto bigger and better things.

If I was a Notts fan, I'd want Swansea to start picking up some results quickly.

Williams has got Swansea written all over him. I think he has been linked before.

He’s been at Swansea before as assistant to Russell Martin but left in slightly mysterious circumstances. Think the official line was family reasons, but lots of rumours there was more to it, so it might be one that we don’t actually have to worry about.

The interest thing with Luke too was he was set to be named Assistant Manager here to Andrew Crofts. When Crofts deal fell through after the scarf above the head photos were taken, Luke was appointed at yourselves just days later.

Can imagine Russell Martin getting the heave-ho soon, too.

Martin was the main reason I was worried when we appointed Williams, always thought his teams looked so flaky and like they’ve got no idea what they’re doing without the ball.

Not sure what the MK lot think but as an outside view, I'm absolutely baffled how Martin has managed to move up the management chain so quickly.

Seemed to do an excellent job with a shocking Swansea side.

Martin is another Appleton. Keeps getting good jobs somehow and it's a right mystery. He's lost more games in his career than he's won.

The funniest thing was when Martin had been at Swansea for 3 or 4 months then applied for the Rangers job when Gerrard left arrogantly thinking he'd even have a sniff at managing such a massive club.

Williams is a bit of an interesting case, the way he plays I don’t think he can turn up halfway through the season at a struggling side in the Championship and do that - so I’m not sure those sort of clubs would go for him. If a team like Swansea went down and were looking to refresh and reinvent themselves in L1 and Williams had a full preseason? He’d be perfect.

There’s no question he’ll go if he carries on the ridiculous job he’s doing here, but I think the list of realistic destinations is a lot shorter than people think, which is why I’ll never be arsed when he gets installed as bookies favourite for like Lincoln or Cambridge (no disrespect to those tinpot clubs)

I think he'd want guarantees on time and the structure of the club. He is very methodical and I'm not sure he's the kind of manager who can walk into a relegation battle and get instant results from motivational speeches. He also doesn't have much input on players coming at Notts and at other clubs he would likely get more. Again, whether he has an eye for a player is a bit unknown.

There isn't a single club in League One right now that he should consider IMO. He should only be looking at the Championship.

I think it's also the case that it was made a lot easier for him to hit the ground running here because of the work that Ardley and then Burchnall did establishing a style of play. The squad Williams inherited was already comfortable playing the wing back system, dominating possession and playing out from the back, so he didn't have to start from scratch.

Notts fans overall seem reluctant to give the two former head coaches much if any credit for what has happened under Williams but it's so blooming obvious. Ready made setup as mentioned, he's just taken it on a few levels.

Are the Notts fans on here trying to get higher division clubs off the scent by saying he isn't actually THAT good?

Crediting Ian Burchnall is a big and wild call from the Notts supporters on here. He was a total spoofer. Like us crediting Simon Rusk for Challinor's work.

Is the guy at Salford under pressure? Nigel Wood.

Neville may grin and bear it for longer I reckon.
