To be fair Bignot didn’t fail here, he was unfairly sacked for being too honest about finances and because Fenty’s mate Slade was available at the time.
And that worked out well.
Also to be fair, he was a complete looney tunes and had lost the senior players in the dressing room by all accounts

Just bizarre timing his sacking though straight after one of our best performances of the season away at Blackpool.

I was at that game and just thought the senior players decided enough was enough and all played their socks off. We sacked the manager and Blackpool got promoted at the seasons end! Bignot was an amazing Bull Shitter in my honest opinion, just like Holloway.

Lee Bell of Crewe has been linked with us.

How's he been Crewe fans?
I don't see how there's anything in this beyond some journalist's blind speculation.

Tom Piatak has said that we've had applications but also that the plan is to appoint a DoF first and then start approaching managers. Pretty sure then we haven't approached Bell and equally sure that Bell hasn't applied since if he did and it got out it would allow Crewe to sack him without paying any compensation (I'm assuming given how Crewe finished last season and started this season that Bell's future is in the balance).

Was linked with us last season by Sky Sports Pete out of no where, sounds to me like his agent likes getting his name out there because with respect if you’re paying compo for someone at our level you’d expect someone who most people have heard of or has a promotion or something to point to.

I think the rumour was that everyone knew he was gone before the game started?
Bignot himself knew!

Players had complained about his training sessions. He just didn’t know what he was doing evidently and players saw through him

Tom Piatek (owner) has released a letter
making it clear that they're going to restructure by appointing a sporting Director first, and then find a head coach, so they clearly haven't got Pete Wild lined up already. Presumably he's on his way to Blackpool.
Steve Bruce has got the job now.

The Blackpool fans seem pretty glad it's not Wild too.

Ryan Lowe and David Flitcroft were watching our car sale trophy match tonight.

Note that we are recruiting a sporting director and head coach.

Pete Wild didn't get the Blackpool job so he'll probably be getting the Carlisle job instead now you'd think.

I suppose he has got a decent record and he knows the level quite well and he'll have more resources with us than what he had with Barrow.

I'm sure we'd get used to his fist pumping.

I doubt he would drop down to L2 as there are bound to be Championship and good L1 teams after him when positions soon come available.

Is the speculation linking him with us though just because

1) He's managed Barrow and we have a history of exchanging players and coaches with them
2) He's recently out of work
3) League Two is generally considered his level

Cos when you look at these there is good reason why the bookies are offering short odds on him, but are they just offering short odds because in the absence of actual insider knowlegde it's all they have to go on and if people are wanting to place bets on him then the odds have to be something? All this talk around who we're gonna appoint on social media is just the usual assumption that if the bookies have short odds they must know something we don't and therefore it's pretty much a done deal but that isn't how bookies work.

I can see Ryan Lowe taking the Carlisle job it will work currently for him location wise he’s probably based himself north now since he was at present and has in past been at Bury.

There is clearly money currently at Carlisle you can argue where it’s coming from and the usual long term disaster waiting to happen but Wyke and Jones will be either the top or close to the top earners wise at this level…..the owners are still new that means they will still for a year or two pour money down the drain before losing interest so will back them.

He has a good pedigree but what options are there for him if he wants to stay in north…..Blackpool is gone (my god we could have got Bruce *shudders*) Wrexham and Bolton would probably aim bigger.

Stockport might but have a good manager currently who ain’t leaving, Barnsley a maybe, down here is possibly Vale or Bradford and after that none others have a decent budget.

I can see Lowe at Carlisle because unless he’s happy to move south it’s a good option for him and seems a good option for us

Bookies offer short odds based on who's betting for them.

Ask one of the bookies to give you odds on Steve Watson (Darlington manager). lo and behold, he'll suddenly appear at 33/1, despite the fact that i literally just looked him up on Nat league North Wikipedia. (So do not actually put money on Steve Watson).
Even when I place a £1 bet on a potential manager, the price tends to go down, although it's likely I'm not the only one that's put money on these guys usually.
Once the bookies know who the manager will be, or that a decision has been made, they don't shorten the price. They take the book off the market.

HG levels of pessimism there :fl:

I mean, I know foreign owners in the lower leagues (or just people from outside the world of football generally) don't have a great track record but it does seem that Wrexham has changed that. Love or hate the amount of attention they get (and I see the BBC's news page for League One is now just the Wrexham news page with a sideways glance at what their opponents are doing to try and stop the fairytale) I think it has made a lot more people aware of what the lower leagues are actually like and put off the sorts of owners who think they can just invest a load of money on big name players, see a quick rise to the Premier League and then make a profit by either selling up or selling replica shirts to the legions of new fans in Beijing and Arizona.

We're used to money being a factor in almost every decision Carlisle make... employ the cheapest manager to sign the cheapest players has been our philosophy for a long time now. Even appointing Simmo was probably in part a decision made to reduce costs as he had said he had no plans of getting back into management following his illness and had been out of club management for some time, but couldn't say no when his hometown club asked him to save them. Seems alien signing players that other clubs wanted and even expected but for most clubs at this level they do compete for players... now we do to.

I am not being a pessimist but is many a club, Swindon the best example Ona rotating basis where the money is spent a two-three years down the line it just abruptly stops, and if it does financially we are as f*cked as the other sides which have gone that way.

If still how it’s gone now l, nowt can be changed with it and it’s the way they want to run but I never bury head in sand and claim this lot any different to others on ditching it if it goes wrong.

We just have to hope it goes right, they like it and can afford the losses.

I would be very jealous if you got Lowe. To be honest though, cannot see him dropping to league 2.

I think we will likely get either Ryan Lowe, Rob Elliot, Pete Wild or Brian Barry Murphy as our new manager as they're all among the favourites for the job and I'd be delighted with any of them.

Flickers gave up management to work in his business, maybe similar to us a DOF role? Did well initially but once promoted he just didnt work out.

If we're appointing a DoF first then who we appoint might drastically change who we're linked with as manager as whoever it is will have their own history of people they've worked with in the past.

The dof will have a say but our owners have said that they are simultaneously looking for a head coach too.

I just hope it's someone we're pleased with and not someone who no one's ever heard of that gets appointed.

It might not be someone you’re pleased with but I’m fairly sure it will be someone we’ve heard of.
