No idea if the DOF is any good as only been a role for a week but Flitcroft has a decent CV at this level so hopefully

Flitcroft does wonders until february.

Also, if clarke doesn’t have a plan B don’t ask flitcroft as he won’t have one either.

Other than that he’s great

The majority of our fans are happy hes gone but things are looking bad for us lost our 2 best players then our manager walks out for a club in the same division a lot think something is going on and we could be in financial trouble the club have already ruled out bringing anyone in this season by appointing Dutton.Clarke could be frustrating but we dont know how much his hands were tied here i think he had done as much as he could with what was available to him and decided enough was enough in the end.Keith Hill was our first choice before Clarke and he turned us down due to the playing budget apparently.

I think Clarke was harshly treated at Walsall, by the club and fans, and in my opinion he’s twice the manager Flitcroft is so this is a really bizarre set-up.

Good luck predicting how this goes.
How? the club didnt sack him he left and not all the fans were on his back in fact he got an easy ride due to covid.

Perfect for all parties really. Wouldn’t have lasted here longer than a few months but we even get compo for him whilst also avoiding having to pay him up. Won’t miss his formation and lineup raffle whilst playing our best striker and a defensive midfielder outside whilst lumping over our midfields heads.

Did an okay job at best, but worried for the financial future of the football club as it looks like we are having a fire sale to get any funds into the club that we can.

Seems to have upset their chairman, I’d be furious if say Askey had left us for Walsall though and very worried more than anything.

Clarke of course holds a Vale record for a player, the shortest on field time of any player to make an appearance! Just under 2 minutes when on loan with us ironically in a 3-2 win against Walsall!

Yes it looks that way the stuff he has come out with hasnt gone down well with our fans either we have seen tonight what a limited bunch he assembled here Dutton tried to get them playing out from the back Clarke never did that and they looked very shaky and uncomfortable all we did under Clarke was lump it up to the big man which worked at times but when Adebayo left that snookered him.

Talking of managers. Its about time they appointed our interim managers Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars on a permanent basis. They have done a fantastic job since we sacked Stuart McCall on the back of a 6 match losing run.

6 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat for them now, including victories over top 7 sides Tranmere, Cambridge and Morecambe.

Persistent theories that we have someone lined up to take over in the summer, Derek Adams name keeps cropping up, however, the majority of fans seem to want Trueman & Selllars permanently, including me. They have been a breath of fresh air since stepping up from the academy with their seemingly modern coaching ways and preparation. Trueman was even combining his academy coaching by playing for a local non league side Thackley before stepping up.

The only hint we are getting from our new CEO is that the pair are happy with the current situation and that their roles with the academy are safe.

Seems pointless to me, it’s obvious there was issues behind the scenes at Walsall but doesn’t need all the sledging really.

He’s done their team talk next season if we play each other.

Off the topic of L2 managers and jobs, but still on managers. Dave Artell being interviewed on Football Focus about how he did a degree in forensic biology and how it enables him to talk with the physio about injuries, not just in terms of muscles and tendons but 'at a molecular level'.

Such an arsehole, I bet the physio there can't stand him.

I wouldn't be suprised to see John McGreal go back to Colchester at this rate, they've been poor for a number of weeks now.

Duff is being talked about as the Rovers manager. Now, I'm not saying that that is the best job in football, but I keep hearing and seeing that Duff is highly rated. I fail to see why he is any different to our manager, for example. Both got to the play offs, both fell short against Northampton. This season, not much difference either.
I dont want Taylor to go anywhere, I'm just surprised he isn't mentioned fir these jobs when Duff is.
P.S. Nice to see Crewe lose today after the sycophantic interview on Football Focus, no doubt he will be forensically examining another defeat....

Duff's rep as a player is probably higher - former international who played in the Prem. Very strong links with Dyche at Burnley.

I don't see him going to Rovers by the way, especially when we could be swapping places with them at the end of the season.

Suspect you are correct, when [not if] he moves I'm sure it will be to a team in a higher league with money in the bank. And probably a team further North than the Midlands.
Duff has performed miracles at cash poor Cheltenham which will have attracted the attention of quite a few club chairmen.

Mark Cooper's five-year contract with FGR ends this summer.
Chairman Dale Vince has recently given an interview where he said that he wants Coops to remain and that MC is apparently happy to stay.
And why not:
  • MC got FGR promoted for 1st time in its history. FGR are now an established EFL club.
  • Coops must be happy to work for DV, who does not interfere in team affairs.
So I expect an announcement in the near future once contract details have been negotiated.

BTW, Mark Cooper has won over the home fans. He now gets cheered by fans appreciating the style of football that FGR play.

Artell is a bit of a penis and his disdain from Vale fans goes back well before managing down the A500.

When our first take over fell through all the signings contracts were invalid... fair enough if you didn’t want to sign and wanted security but he did a “Churchillian speech” telling the squad they should sign which they all did... then fucked off the next day. Cost himself a promotion medal mind!

On P&G on the way back from Vale you get their interviews and generally are cringe worthy.

Almost as cringeworthy as advertising your new score board with a Vale badge photo shopped onto a Shrewsbury badge that’s clearly visible underneath mind. Hahaha. Got to be that Crewe fans that’s obsessed on here when Vale lose running their admin.

I'd take it - our squad really isn't all that different to last season, but the contrast is remarkable.

The only difference I can see is that Duff took over a Cheltenham side that were consistently struggling at the foot of the table and has transformed them into one of the promotion favourites, whereas Taylor took over a club that were usually making the play-offs already.

Think Frank Gregan might have something to say about that.
Frank never promoted FGR into the Football League.
But I will accept he is currently most successful manager in FGR's history with two promotions in non league.

Its awkward judging managers.

At Crawley for example...

Francis Vines won the most.

Steve Evans got us promoted to the EFL.

Craig Brewster got us promoted to League 1 (with the Evans team)

Richie Barker achieved our highest ever league finish

You can make an argument for all of them but they all had squads and were able to bring players in. Some of the ones who had to cobble a team together with no cash or facilities would also deserve a shout but they haven't won anything so wouldn't get a look in.

I'm actually astonished we gave Jolley the boot, but it's the right decision. From a team that was improving and just lacking a player or two, to a squad incapable of anything close to football in just six weeks.

There's more to it though, I'm sure. Reckon he had a big falling out with the chairman after the match.

I genuinely don't know, but has any struggling team who has made more than one managerial change in a season actually managed to stay up?

Off the top of my head I can think of ourselves (14/15) and Watford (19/20) who both went down after multiple changes. Notts did as well in 18/19.
