True but we have also done the double over Crawley which tells you all you need to know about them.
...and we have done the double over Tranmere and could do the double over Bolton which shows how bloody stupid this league is.

He's hardly been thrown into a relegation battle, he's been in the set-up as number two all season under both of the managers so far.

The only solace I can take from that is that it says we'll be bringing in an experienced number two to work alongside and mentor him.

In some ways, it's a surprise he wasn't appointed after Steve Ball as presumably he only came in the summer on the basis he'd be next in line given that's how our managerial appointments have worked for the past decade.

Deckchairs being rearranged on the Titanic again, I see.

What happened to Wayne 'no longer a racist' Brown?

When he stepped up, it was mentioned that it was initially for the next run of games where we were playing Saturday - Tuesday for weeks on end. He's had nine games, we've only won once and this is the first time since then that we've had the whole week free so presumably it was the first natural break to take stock.

Is he staying at the club?

Hayden mullins was a good player in the championship and prem but no idea if he will be any good as a manager. Can't really do much worse really as Colchester are on a really bad run.

Paul Tisdale now confirmed as the experienced appointment, pleased with that. I'd hope it will be beyond just the end of the season, too.

I think that’s a smart move giving Mullins somebody experienced to help him. Gives him a better shout of making a success of it I reckon,

We tried that with David Dunn and that didn't work at all. Colchester aren't us though so it will probably end up working well knowing our luck.

I wouldn’t call David Dunn experienced.

He means having someone experienced alongside the novice manager to mentor him. Would've been better off just having that man (Rob Kelly) in sole charge, but that was never really on the cards.

Regarding Molesley, has he been unlucky? There were plenty of Southend fans complaining about his tactics after we beat them, seemed about half and half between those who wanted him sacked and those who thought he was the right man for the job, but go back a few months and he was doing an amazing job at making them competitive when most thought they were gone. I'm sure Phil Brown will get them fired up at least, Molesley never looked that dynamic on the touchline.

Molesley didn't look like he glowed on the touchline either

Vince doing the same as 5 years ago in the NL, which worked out w...

Not sure what he's expecting when they've got no strikers. A new guy is hardly going to magic any up, and surely by the time someone else comes in, they're two or three games down unless he has someone already lined up.

Interesting call this one. On one hand it does seem to be the pattern with FGR that they appear to tail off when it comes to the business end of the season under Cooper so can see Vinces thinking there. On the other hand I think you can correlate their dip in form this time with the loss of Matt and at this point also I'm not sure what realistically a new manager can do.

It's win win either way though surely? If you leave cooper in till end of season and then sack him anyway why not do it now.

Give a new manager a chance to look at the players before season finishes and make a decision on who to keep/let go. Otherwise Cooper makes those decisions then a new guy comes in and has players he doesn't want still under contract or worse just had contract renewed.

Think Cooper will have a host of clubs lining up for him.

He's a wanker but his teams play really nice football generally.

Next manager in place. One who fits the ethos of the club and has a great record (albeit mainly as a double act)
Steven Patrick Morrissey.

Not exactly sure what FGR expect from a manager and how much budget they give him to meet those expectations but from the outside looking in challenging for a play off place and, until recently, for an automatic promotion place is not bad going.

Obviously hoping for a new manager bounce to make the play offs.

Was out of contract in the summer, has been here 5 years so can see why Vince is trying the same tactic as with Pennock as he'll probably feel like there isn't much to lose.

Pretty surprised tbh. we've had worse runs and at this point don't really have the available players to score enough goals, and with Jimmy Ball our under 18's manager in charge until the end of the season I'd be surprised if we improve a lot, but we'll see. Personally would have preferred to see us go with an experienced option if we were going to make the change.
