Rene Gilmartin has been named as McGreal's assistant. I assume he'll be our reserve keeper also. Good way for Power to cut costs.
I will echo dedwardp. He played (sic) at Crawley on loan a few years ago and in seven(?) games I never saw him make a save.

In fact the only save I've seen him make was for Colchester when Ollie Palmer powered a header straight into his face! I swear blind he was trying to get out of the way.

Well, 89 games in a 16 year career seems to point to a lack of ability. Thank God he’s come as assistant manager.

A Swindon fan told me Cameron Belford was pretty decent when we signed him, but having seen him play I doubt Gilmartin can be any worse.

I'm pretty sure he is only likely to play in extreme circumstances. First and foremost he's our assistant manager. Although knowing this club he'll probably our new #1

Be fair, be fair, Cameron did have ONE amazing good game for FGR and deservedly was awarded MoM.
The other half dozen matches we'll forget about.

Liking the sound of the new guys Matt Taylor, Neil McDonald and Jamie Fullarton working alongside the existing staff in Maik Taylor, Mat Sadler and Miguel Llera. Should be a much better balance than Darrell Clarke constantly talking about him and himself.

Sounds like he should hit the ground running…

It seems like a lot of teams will have very strong budgets next season and it will be interesting to see who makes the best of them. You’d imagine Mellon will have Tranmere towards the top of the league.
Where are clubs getting these budgets from? A year of next to no income and uncertainty ahead...

We’ve lost a million but luckily the owners have covered it out their own pocket and investing in the set up. We have had a lot more shirt sales and virtually all the season ticket holders (over 4000) kept their money in, add in the IFollow income and less match day outlays I guess we would have lost most through the off field things such as functions and the like.

Looking around most have managed to hold their season ticket money from fans it seems which will have dampened the blow.

All you had to say was the owners have covered the losses and will fund a competitive budget the next season, similar situation at Mansfield and countless other clubs I’m sure. The accounts will show a huge decrease in income due to match day income practically vanishing for us all.

Our local rag reporting this morning that we are expected to announce our new manager within next 48 hours. Hopefully this will be their top target Derek Adams, all the noises our end suggest it will be.

I think this will be the first time we have ever poached from another club and paid compensation for a manager if it does indeed turn out to be Adams.

Talk Sport’s Alex Crook, saying Adams is done and could be announced as early as this morning.

Think he will regret that when he's sacked by Bradford in a few months

He was given a lot of latitude at Argo and Morecambe, if he does not get off to a flyer he may come under a lot of pressure. He knows how to get out of league 2 and I bet he will make a lot of changes in the Bradford side. How many of the current Bradford squad are contracted to next season? Yann Songo as a Bradford player?

I feel for Morecambe really. If you also lose a couple of key players, it’s going to be a challenge to survive, but by no means impossible. Hopefully you can attract a decent manager with experience/ contacts and you can still succeed.

Me too, and what you say Moomin is exactly how I view it. The unhelpful point I was making is that that is exactly what Adam’s has a track record of doing. I predict a fair bit on movement in both Bradford and Morecambe.

Morecambe pretty much in a similar situation to us last summer, got promoted then a "bigger" club comes in and nicks the manager and one of our better players gets his head turned by his agent... How long did Adams have left on his Morecambe contract? I hope Morecambe have the sense to get a clause stopping Bradford taking their players - like we did when Evatt joined Bolton.

Edit - according to Nixon he had 1 year left on his Morecambe contract.

It’s slightly different though in the fact that Evatt at least left for a ‘bigger club’ in the same league that he felt had a better chance of getting promoted etc. If Evatt had taken you guys into league 1 then joined us in league 2 that would have been a much riskier move. Adams is dropping down a division which is really strange. He must have been offered a bumper payrise and a big budget.

whilst no-one knows what contract he'll be on it's a certainty that you're right on both the payrise and budget.... obviously he's more interested in money than ambition

I keep reading others say he’ll be under pressure/fans will want him out should he start slowly but I disagree. From a fans point of view we’ve brought in someone who knows how to get out of this league (four promotions to his name?), literally just taken a side up, who’s stock has arguably never been higher, if anyone can, this guy can. From the clubs point of view, I feel Ryan Sparks, the CEO, has gone all in on this appointment, it’s his man who we have coveted for a long time now, I don’t see him getting rid at the first dip given the time and effort given to securing Adams.
A very solid appointment, no doubt the best CV of any manager we’ve had in sometime and must be seen as a step in the right direction.

"Goodbye Little Old Morecambe"

Feel a bit for them, but very weird that the Morecambe directors would allow him to speak to Bradford before the season was over. Adams knows what he's doing - he doesn't want a relegation or a sacking to his name so the time was right to leave - the only surprise is that nobody in League 1 wanted to offer him what Bradford are offering.
