He had a bit of a gut on him when he played for us but he wasn't used as a target man (unless you include being an alternative fat man comment target to Steve McNulty). He was decent in the air and scored a fair few headers but was good on the ground and the supporters liked him.
Cole Stockton is very unpopular for some reason. I was indifferent to him but some had a real dislike for him. He scored a hat trick in a 9-0 league win and some criticised him for missing a penalty that would have made it 10-0 and cheered when he was subbed.

Mark Cooper's welcome interview at Barrow.
Sadly he does not do himself justice, complaining at being sacked [almost bitter] 6 games b4 end of season when FGR had a decent chance of a place in play offs.
MC was manager when FGR were promoted to Football League but I don't think he will receive a warm welcome at his next visit to TNL.
I'm disappointed that he now has an attitude problem towards FGR but nevertheless I will applaud him loudly when next we meet.

Mark Cooper Bitter. They sold that in the fan zone at Prenton Park when we were allowed to go what seems like years ago.

He is also a cross between between Ricky Gervais and James Corden visually.

He's right though isnt he? Vince gambled on someone else getting you up and he failed.

Of course he’s aggrieved, anyone would be when they get sacked. I’m sure he believed he would have turned it around (not so sure myself but we’ll never know) and was disappointed not to have had the chance to finish the season. Can’t really blame him for that tbh.

He did a good job overall, we didn’t have the strongest squad last season imo and lost key players at a bad time, and for me we exceeded expectations for most of the year but like you say I doubt he’ll get a great reception when he comes back. I mean he rarely got a great reception when he was manager here.

Think 5 years is a long time at any club and probably best for everyone to get a fresh start. If he works on his PR a bit he’ll do very well at Barrow I reckon.

Well we currently have no strikers on the books so he'll have to be busy in that area. Rumours of him bringing Stockton but I'd much rather us go back for Andy Cook who is a better player and someone the fans took to.

He had a bit of a gut on him when he played for us but he wasn't used as a target man (unless you include being an alternative fat man comment target to Steve McNulty). He was decent in the air and scored a fair few headers but was good on the ground and the supporters liked him.

I believe Stockton is more of a target man than Cook, but surely there would be room for both in the squad, if indeed they are targets of his
I'm trying to recall if Stockton and Cook played together much while at Tranmere, but think not, there was a spell where Stockton replaced Cook during our push to the unsuccessful NL play-off, in probably his best spell with Rovers including the hattrick Robshep mentions. Micky Mellon was a fan and seemed to have improved his game during that period. While can't blame Cole for trying his luck at Hearts, also wonder if things might have worked out better for him if he took the contract we'd offered and carried on working with Mellon. Although he's good at holding the ball up, don't see him as an orthodox target man type.

Cook was the opposite, a decent player for us, who Micky picked out as lacking fitness and not contributing enough. I felt that while there were fitness issues, that applied to others and Andy seemed to be singled out a bit. Again not a target man, but contributed goals inside and outside the box, with head and feet. Definitely for me the player with more of an all-round game of the pair and I'd be happy to have him back, though reckon that's unlikely.

Obviously nobody would ever know for certain, but if Jamille Matt didn't get injured, Mark Cooper would be managing Forest Green in League One next season.

Could say the same substituting James Vaughan, Keith Hill and Tranmere Rovers!

If Dale Vince had taken over us 2 years earlier Jim Harvey could have been managing us in the Championship by now.

If the Palioi had taken us over a few months earlier we’d have invested in a proper squad, appointed someone more equipped to manage than rookie Rob Edwards, though he might have stood a chance with a decent squad and never dropped out of the league...

Jim Harvey Derby would have been weird

I still remember it in the Conference. Don’t think Jim shook hands with Sammy Mc still some bad blood there at the time.

We move on. Although Matt Hibbert on the This is Tranmere podcast has heard we might move back striker wise.

Well yeah?
I recommend that you re-read my previous post dated 27th May on page 130 for a full explanation.
I'm on Cooper's side that Dale V sacked him before he had chance to complete the job of getting FGR promoted this season.

In that case I'm not sure how he "doesn't do himself justice". Everyone can understand why he'd feel aggrieved.

If all this adds to his motivation then that can only be a good thing.

Mark Cooper did not do himself justice in 1st Barrow interview.
He committed the cardinal sin of condemning previous employers, something that could come back to bite him in the bum.
He should have kept that opinion to himself.

He quite clearly did it, so that’ll be a new manager at the Gas.

Maybe, but the fact Barton is an utter c*** might work against him.

Some sympathy if they’d had a tear up face to face and he’s decked him, it happens, but attacking the bloke from behind is cowardly as fuck and seems typical going on previous form.
