Bartons trial stopped yesterday due to tech issues with video link and translation problems (?), and will continue on November 26th. The day before a game, great.

They knew they were appointing Joey Barton, if there wasn’t a trial pending there would have been soon. No idea why anyone would appoint a liability like him.
Because he has played at the highest level . Got a lot of decent contacts in the game and hopefully will turn us around. He will probably have a decent budget to do it with as well.

'Contacts' is always one of the shittest/most pointless phrases trotted out whenever a manager gets appointed. Every manager/coach/ex-player has contacts. And playing at the highest level doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a good lower division manager. Just look at Edgar Davids,

Barton did alright in 3 years at Fleetwood (39.8% win record) but surely there's better candidates out there if you've got a decent budget? You're almost certain to be managerless come November. Is Barton really worth all that hassle?

No doubt he has decent contacts but how many want to deal with him when the "reward" for one not coming off is to get beaten up.

Well at least he has contacts . A problem we have had in the past especially with Darrel Clark who had virtually none except ones he had managed in the Non league. Tell me who were the better candidates when we chose JB ? So you know the outcome of the court case then -- Perhaps you could give me saturdays winning lottery numbers as well.

So Darrell Clarke who played more then 300 games in the football league before doing his coaching badges didn’t know anyone working at any other EFL club?

Not ideal - right in the middle of the season .
What if you start well but he gets found guilty ?

Could be a bit of an issue .

I’m a little surprised at the Gas fans on here being so pro-Barton. He failed in his primary objective to keep you up. While anything can happen in jury trials, on what’s been reported the case against him sounds fairly strong. He didn’t achieve a great deal at Fleetwood despite reasonable financial backing. It’s hard to believe there weren’t better options available.

He didn't seem to try and keep them up last season. Came in, lost a few games and then basically said the whole lot of them were shit and he couldn't wait to get rid of them and start all over. If that was intended to be magnificent man management then it backfired.

Well explain why DC in the Jan window when he was at Rovers failed to sign anyone until the very last days when he panicked and signed 2 of the biggest tossers ever to grace the football world in Stefan Payne and Bennett. I even think we paid a decent fee for Payne.

He also got you two promotions. So his recruitment can’t have been that bad.

The Dazzler has in fairness had Flitcroft at Vale so if he hasn't the best connections we have been leaning on Flickers and Crosby. If you get the set up right does the manager need the connections.

We have appointed former manager Mark Trueman as assistant to Derek Adams. That's 4 different roles Trueman has held at the club since December. He had recently accepted a link coaching role liaising between the youth and first team.

Pleased for him actually, he is a talented coach, just think the permanent manager role was too early for him, but he is sure to learn and gain experience under Adams. Our CEO recently publicly challenged him to continue learning and put himself in the frame for the managers position in the future

As long as they can identify a suitable stand-in if Barton has to take his hands of the reins...so to speak...Wales seem to have done pretty well with Rob Page running the ship, in the absence of Giggs.

True - I guess like Page Barton's assistant could take over if required to maintain some continuity.

Not worth the stress involved.
Almost certainly. Probably was lured in by Lee Power's Masi like bullshit. We had 6 players lined up to sign who have now signed or will be signing for other clubs. We need this parasite out of the club otherwise we are going to be another Southend United.

Or possibly Bury as a worse case scenario.
