1400 home fans there on a day when Man Utd didn't play.

As a poster said earlier, I wonder how many were freebies?

That club is finished. Neville will pull out the moment he knows the project is stagnant.

Never saw anything more cringeworthy than when we played them on Boxing Day 2019. A sizable minority of their fans left at half time to make their way to Old Trafford for Man Utd vs Newcastle. Embarrassing football club. Their demise will be welcomed.

As I mentioned on the matchday thread I watched some of our game yesterday at Salford. Their commentary team were very salty when we scored and stated that 'its all very well having a large travelling support but there is no excuse for throwing flares on the pitch blah blah'.

It's almost like they had never seen a game of football in the lower leagues before.

There is no excuse for what the Salford manager did.

They should have bought Oldham instead lol...... proper old club, good history and more chance of bigger crowds.

Anyway Curle will be on his way soon imo, clubs gone toxic, trouble ahead at future games by the looks of it until the owners sell up.

I expect Rovers will try and ride it out with him for good or bad. Stand to be corrected on this but in addition that Rovers squad looks quite sizeable already and not sure much room for manoeuvre for any new manager coming in.

Bowyer will be the one to go first, he’s already gone longer winless than most Salford managers get.

I’ve had enough of Chris Beech.

He started off well but his record is becoming embarrassing. But that’s not the main thing for me, it’s the shit performances more so than the actual results that has put me off. He’s showing no sign of turning things round. His persistence with these god awful tactics that don’t suit the players he’s recruited and aren’t even remotely good to watch, well it’s just getting beyond irritating. Frustratingly we have a few decent players, but a coach that doesn’t have a clue how to use them. He’s simply bereft of any ideas.

It won’t happen until if or when we find ourselves in the relegation places, but right now I want Chris Beech out.

They should have bought Bury, Neville's father has connections to Bury and the club certainly wouldn't have been expelled in 2019 under their ownership.

Thoughts on Curle returning to Carlisle? I doubt he would want to stay around our club for much longer in its current toxic situation under our owners.

is the player to tactics thing not because of us doing a silly director of football thing that the top clubs do

what happened to days of a manager finding players they want, rather than a coach using what is given its L2 not the premiership and we ain’t going to really have to scour the continent for targets.

I’m no fan of Holdsworth, but Beech still decides what players he wants and doesn’t want, then the director of football deals with the negotiations side.

I stand in the paddock and it’s clear that Beech is instructing them to launch the ball direct. He even tells them to not hit the long balls flat and to put height on them. This probably makes it even more easy fir opposition defenders. Every game it’s a losing battle for our forwards who simply aren’t suited to this type of football. Play to your players strengths, it’s not rocket science.

His blind stubborn persistence with these tactics are what’s going to either get him sacked or relegated.

Not for me. Didn’t mind him at times but wouldn’t want him back.

Another diabolical performance.

His record is becoming an embarrassment.
He has to be put out of his misery and sacked.

Obviously you know more than me on this but that seems a bit harsh. He’s seemed to have done a good job overall at Carlisle from afar and you’re right in the middle of a very congested table so it’s not exactly that terminal.

Barton on the other hand I think he’ll be very lucky last another couple of weeks.

It depends what your definition of a good job overall is.

Yes when he came in he kept us up after the mess Steven Pressley left, and he improved on that last season by having us top of the league by January. He has that in the bank which puts him above Pressley… for now.

But since then it’s all changed. The performances have largely been dreadful since. The odd exception in about 30 odd games. But it’s now 7 wins in our last 32 league games under him. That is an absolute disgrace. And not only the results, the football its self has been dreadful, really hard to watch. He has some good players to work with, not a promotion squad by any means but there is enough quality in there to produce better performances and better results. It’s blindingly obvious that he’s misusing players and not utilising their strengths.

The big worry is its getting worse as the weeks go by. Hartlepool a few weeks back was shocking, I thought that was as poor as we’d see, but since then, first half against Salford, Crawley last week were even worse… but today we reached a new level of shitness. Fuck knows what we’re going to be served up next week at Sutton, then god help us the week after against forest green.

So overall I’d say it’s been more bad than good under him, and with us only getting worse by the week, now is the time to make the change to save our season.

To be fair to the Carlisle boss, he massively over achieved above expectation last season for a long period before Covid knocked them off their stride, and has seen some of that squad pulled apart this summer (financial reasons why some went Barrow?)

You looked decent against us but had nothing up front. Zanzala maybe is a big miss? If he’s limited in funds it’s going to be a difficult gig I guess.

Barton must be in trouble now at Rovers, I didn’t really buy into the hype that they’d win the league and half expected them to be mid table but it’s difficult, teams have been coming down from L1 and struggling (we took two seasons of struggle) and I guess you could look at Bolton last season and how long it took them to steer the ship. It’s difficult to get that losing mentality out of a club but he needs to stop the rot or he would be gone.

The squad has been pulled apart a bit, largely in defence, but not exactly an overhaul. Zanzala and Farman went to barrow because they were offered longer contracts (Farman I agree with not giving 2 years, Zanzala we should have). The club flogged two defenders for a combined half a million up front, replaced them cheaply. Other than that it’s largely the same group of players and they are capable of more than what’s been served up at the moment.

He did do well for a spell last season, but overall he has the worst win rate of any manager we’ve had in recent years. His win rate is even worse than Pressley’s ffs, although his points per game is just slightly ahead.

Not good enough. His record is shite, the performances even when we pick up a result are shite. He has to go.

Take issue with you on how Carlisle played at Crawley.

Odd to see 3 subs after five minutes of the 2nd half but he acted decisively and for the most part you were completely on top for the remainder of the game. If it wasn't for a cracker from outside the box in the last minute you would have gone home with a hard earned point.

Obviously you watch week in week out so know much more than me but the players seemed to respond well to him.

I’d say at Crawley we played ok for about 20 minutes of that second half. The rest was absolute dross.

Although, the Crawley performance looked like peak Guardiola Barca compared to the shit we served up yesterday.

It's hard to watch crap after seeing the team play well for a while.

I was inured to it from watching Crawley in the Southern division of the Southern League but then we had three or four good seasons which saw us mid table in league 1. Really looked forward to the following season but we we're served some terrible stuff to get relegated followed by some real dross which I found so hard to watch for the first two seasons back here.

As always. Its the hope that gets you.

Is Bowyer still on borrowed time? Another poor result on Saturday.

Seems overdue for a sacking there.

That said I don’t really think their squad is that great this year in comparison to other seasons where they’ve flopped.

Hopefully they’ve topped out now!

Jimmy Ball, son of World Cup winner Alan and former interim manager at FGR, has left the club by mutual consent !!!!!!!!!!!!

Very terse statement on the FGR website:
"Jimmy Ball has today left the club with mutual consent. We thank him for his work – both as an Under-18s coach and leading us to the play-offs.
Best of luck with your future plans."

I wonder what has happened there?

Given that he got more energy and precision out of Aaron Collins in a handful of games than Cooper had managed in over a season, BRovers might be a good place for Jimmy Ball
