Who’s Gonna get Keith Curle first?

Saturdays game is gonna be a proper “Shit Off” between 2 sides woefully out of form, with no manager. :woot:

I think the changes at Carlisle may not stop the sinking ship……..very large holes to try and fill.

But at least now especially with removal of this idiotic DOF set up they might head into next season with some better direction and approach.

Seems a harsh sacking, Millen got little chance but it was going down the gutter worse each week

I wanted Wellens here before we appointed Adams but after his spells at Salford and Doncaster, I'm not so sure now.

Still, I'd rather him than Evans.

I differ on the idea of having a DOF. I think if you have the right one in place it’s actually a very useful thing to have. It’s worked very well at Vale for one. I think it’s more fair to say Holdsworth just wasn’t up to scratch in the role.

My guess is he’ll go back to Morecambe but this does seem like the sort of fit that would work for Derek Adams in the short term at least.

Paul Simpson confirmed as new manager.

Really happy with that

Wow I was so pleased to see this news as he gave us the best times since I've supported them.

I really hope he can keep us up and it seems like there is a bit of change happening at last and it's about time!

Hopefully Skelton will have fucked off too along with Millen and Holdsworth, how Skelton keeps remaining as a number two is bewildering.

To be fair Simpson took about 8 months to sort our bad team out.

Unlike Sheridan he is not a good short term improve what You have type of manager……..we could well go down with Simpson.

But Simpson has good connections and can find very good players if given time

He'll still be working with the same shit quality players, with no window to bring any in, so in all likelihood we'll still be relegated, BUT he'll at least get some passion instilled into these losers. The atmosphere of the whole place will get a lift so we stand a better chance than with Millen.

As Dave rightly says, i doubt it will be enough this season, but it might give us a chance of competing next season and the fans will get behind him.

And I agree with Carver, I hope Skelton goes as well. Let Simpson bring in his own staff.

When Simpson got us promoted twice we had far better ownership back then so if we go down and he stays, it's unlikely he will have any success getting us back up under this lot who simply don't do promotions.

To be honest though, I'm just happy to see some good news coming out of the club for a change even if it's short lived, it's been so long since there was any other.

I’d personally get Andy Preece in as assistant if he’d come.

Our forwards need a little bit of know how and Simpson doesn’t as such need an old head alongside him anymore.

They know each other from last time and Preece well respected here

I think I read somewhere there have been 17 managerial changes in the current bottom eight and the fact that some have changed manager twice like we did ourselves last season just shows how important it can be to get rid of those not up to it quickly.

We are the only one not to have changed manager this season so time will tell if stability is the right way to go, I'm not sure what can be achieved otherwise other than season on season of firefighting. Plus, our situation is different in the fact that we are finding our feet at the level after a very long absence, whereas all other teams in the mix have been mismanaged by the ownership for a number of years.

I think that we have better players now than the ones Simmo inherited from Roddy Collins the first time round. That team had no gamechangers at all in it while, also Millen rarely if ever seemed to pick the strongest squad from the players he had available so there is some immediate improvement that can be made just by picking better players and by them playing to the best of their ability. We're also not adrift like we were back then, and Simmo has more experience than he did... however the flipside is no transfer window and less time to turn things around.

True, hopefully though Holdsworth going is a sign of better times ahead. It shows if nothing else that the current owners are prepared to make big decisions for the good of the club... more of that kind of attitude for them and we may yet get some new owners (not this season of course, but then for what remains of this season it is probably irrelevant who is in charge).

When the powers that be decide David Holdsworth is worth employing you were always in trouble, I remember saying as much when he was appointed ages ago. Bringing in new managers but keeping him was always daft.

I believe he’ll improve us, but the back line of kids will still be a problem. If only he could sign an experienced centre back I think we’d have a chance. I think he’ll get something out of the forwards, but just can’t see us keeping teams out.

Rumours of Fowler getting the job.

Prefer Fowier to some regurgitated dinosaur such as Evans or Jackett.

That said, think it will be Wellens

Pete Wild. But before any manager we need a DoF in the building first.

You need a good DoF first. Getting a crap DoF like David Holdsworth, who has just been sacked by our club, would just mean you'll end up like us, battling relegation every year.

I think he applied for the job at Bristol Rovers when Darrell Clarke left, albeit that was when we were a L1 side. It shows he was looking at managing in England though, and a big L2 side would fit the bill.

What's Sol Campbell up to these days?

Good shout, I'm shocked nobody has gone for him sooner.
He worked wonders at Macclesfield and Southend in difficult circumstances. In fact I wanted him here during the many managerial changes we had over in the last 2 years.
