Not a word from Wild on our latest signing, just comments and pictures with the sporting director. Not sure what the delay is with announcing it officially.

Is it confirmed that he's gone then? Be interesting to see who comes in as a replacement.

Not yet, but it's very reminiscent of when Evatt went to Bolton...
Ian Foster or Luke Gerrard would be good guesses if he does go.

That smacks of Barrow cutting their cloth next season after investing pretty heavily for their standards last year. Wasnt Wild on a 4 or 5 year contract too?

I'd simply turn up all season rather than turn up for it then shit the bed for the remaining quarter like he's done 3 years on the spin. Interesting to see where he goes next though...

Really not sure how what I think of it all. Wild always had that underdog mentality which I understand given where we have come from, however he's been well backed by the board given some of the players we brought in and it was absolutely criminal not to even make the playoffs considering where we were at the turn of the year. History shows from his time at Halifax and here that it is a common occurrence. He always shook criticism off during bad runs of form with a "remember who we are" mentality, which saw to us in the end. I can't recall the likes of Lindsay at Crawley, or Bell at Crewe, managers of other unfancied sides having that sort of outlook. I don't think we'd have ever got promoted, but a playoff semi and potential visit to Wembley would've been a good money spinner for the club which was all but guaranteed at one stage.

On the flip side, the grass isn't necessarily greener. You only have to look at the first two seasons back in the EFL we had and compare them to these last two. I'm sitting on the bad decision side of the fence at the moment, I've really enjoyed these last two seasons given the ups and downs, never in any worry and staying in League Two for the next 20 years with the odd crack at the playoffs would be a success in my opinion.

He did exactly all that and he did the same at Halifax. His mate at Halifax has won the FA Trophy and got in the Play Offs in his two years there and gets nowhere near the credit Wild did because he doesn't bang on every two minutes about what a small club he's supposedly doing it with.

Barrow will be fine, as you say the budget there was always bigger than Wild made out, Wild did do a good solid job and will be picked up by someone soon no danger but he definitley played the underdog card at every opportunity. The recruitment is obviously well underway, you signed a highly rated goalkeeper the other day, you obviously have a decent football department, Wild wasn't doing everything. You'll be fine.

Has he walked or have barrow given him the boot?

If it’s the latter it would seem a strange move.

Certainly hope so on that final three words mate.

I'd say booted. Strange decision for someone like us I think, you'd expect it where promotion would potentially be a bigger pressure like Bradford to pluck a name out the air.

From an outside looking in perspective that seems utter madness. No doubt everyone was disappointed the way the season ended but in the broader picture he seemed to be making steady progress with the team, building on his first season. His recruitment seemed precise and successful. It seems even more mad when you think of the arse up they made of replacing Evatt with however many failed in and out in a flash appointments they made before stumbling across Wild. I would have thought they’d be doing everything to keep him.

With the steady progress he was making I had you down as playoff candidates for the coming season. Now I’m not so sure. I can only hope for your sake the club have learnt from the post Evatt mess.

I just know Ive felt way better surviving the drop the two seasons prior wild....than being left with what was evidently “footballing blue balls” both seasons he’s been in charge.....i think most success is from Ian wood and not actually Wilds technical mind.....but he goes with no ill will from most fans I’d imagine.

Reckon Wild will show up at Burton in short order. Now they’ve finally binned off Paterson I can definitely see the fit there.

Barrow should be a pretty appealing job you’d think though. Stable club with a solid squad to build from.

I'm not sure Barrow is an appealing job. I believe they train in Manchester but geographically isolated, small crowds, moderate ground and a history of struggle doesn't scream appealing beyond a good owner for the time being. Tragically Bromley are probably a better long term bet for progressing up the leagues.

Plus Barrow have one of the worst stadiums in the country, an absolute shithole that needs completely flattened and rebuilt.

Flynn started out like a house on fire last season but a combination of us not having a proper squad (our bench was consistently made up of yoof players) and his plan A being found out, (he didn't appear to have anything outside of plan A) he was given the push. Fact is our owners didn't back him properly and without the loans of Young and Kemp last season we'd probably have gone down.

With that said our first 8 games of the season were great, brilliantly zany attacking football - we beat Crawley 6-0 - but once teams cottoned on to it, Flynn struggled. I think he's a fairly limited lower league manager.

Michael Flynn apparently a front runner for our head coach role.

I know he struggled at Swindon, but how was he at Walsall?

Flynny is ok he won't get you in trouble but if you are expecting to push for promotion it might be a stretch with him in charge.
Expect to sign Danny Johnson if he gets the job Flynn loves him and he's out of favour here.

Evatt getting sacked, Challinor to Bolton and Wild to Stockport is what I've heard.

Then Evatt back to Barrow?

I'm sure Stockport would rather take Evatt than Wild.

Oh i don't know bud! he did ok with us took us to 2 play off finals and made us a few million from cup runs. but AS is correct he has no plan B so if things start to go wrong early his team will be up shit creek without a paddle.
