He left JR with no choice, we definitely have a better squad than last season, I can’t wrap my head around how he got so little from them.

Last night was embarrassing, not felt that embarrassed since we were a non-league team. Barrowcelona literally fucking hammered us.

Can't see Mike Jackson lasting much longer at Tranmere. I know things can change but I remember him getting the caretaker job at Shrewsbury years ago when Graham Turner resigned and they were so limp and lifeless and showed no fight in trying to survive at that level in 2013-14. He seemed a very broken man the day we all but sent them down and I'm not surprised it's not working out for him again.

Graham Coughlan was a weird one. He did a good job at Rovers before his bizarre post match comments after they beat Ipswich away last season claiming he'd "taken them as far as he could". But I'm sure at a club like Mansfield you'll get a lot of egos in the playing staff and a lot of hangers on that can cause disruption through the camp as well. Be interesting to see who they appoint. Likes of Paul Tisdale, Keith Hill and John McGreal all out of work and would all be decent appointments should they be approached.

Radfords goodwill from the Mansfield fans must be starting to tarnish a bit after three successive poor appointments. What confidence can there be that he will make a decent one this time around.

Feel sorry for Coughlan but we do need a lift. We have a DOF now so hopefully there will be a bit more long-term about identity and how successive managers are going to fit into that.

Not calling you a liar by any stretch of the imagination, and I have no doubt you'll know more than me, but why would his wife's parents know what he's earning?

My wife's parents don't know what my salary is. Hell, I don't even know my brother's and sister's salaries.

Really? I've a good idea of everyone's salary in my close circle!

Unsurprising considering their budget, maybe a Graham Alexander appointment? Coughlan just never turned it around from Dempster it seems so it’s a big job for whoever gets it to turn it around.

I think ‘unsurprising considering they haven’t won since March’ is a better, more reasonable explanation :)

David Sharpe will be overseeing the next appointment.

Is he still DOF? Thought that was just bollocks before announcing him as CEO

Yeah sorry you're right, he is CEO now not DOF. I imagine his role has just expanded to include the other club things as I can't imagine that a DOF at a League Two club has all that much to do. Don't know the inner workings but the last two appointments have been poor, albeit I felt Coughlan would prove to be the right man.

we seam to be the danger club for managers at present - Evatt was minutes away from the sack according to some Bolton fans 3 matches ago - until they got a 95th minute equaliser against us.
Last night Coughlan didn't fare so well.
And next match is Bradford at home with Bradford fans already calling for McCall to be sacked....

Perhaps none of you are in jobs where your weekly salary is more than most people get paid a year or is open to public scrutiny. That was certainly the case when he was at Bolton Wanderers. The yearly wage bill at Tranmere last season was about what the League 1 cap now is. I doubt anybody is on more than £3,000 pw. The average in 2017-18 wasnt huge and not much higher in 2018-19. Rovers do not hide their accounts, they are easy to find. We lost money in the National

I suppose its a bit like the lottery winner who can't hide the fact they have a ton of money. If you are getting paid a lot its hard to hide the sudden upgrade in lifestyle. It was a reference to him not being on anything close to what he was getting paid at Bolton by Blackpool and less now. Bolton didnt get into a financial mess by paying low wages.

David Holdsworth would argue otherwise.

His mother and father in law are regulars in the same pub as me (when allowed). I know he isnt. Not aware of what he is actually on but its a fraction of what he was getting at Bolton. That and earlier wages have made him ok financially. He also coaches the under 12s at Liverpool. Doubtful thats for free. Many still active lower league players coach at under 18 level at big clubs. Helps with getting their badges.

Not having a dig but how does this work? I presume te coaching at Liverpool takes place in the evening but I would worry if one of our player's had a part time job elsewhere.

Clough? Hurst? Tisdale? Alexander will probably apply. Cook and Cowley probably our of reach and more likely to be holding out for upper L1 jobs at least.

I don’t think Jackson’s cause is being helped by the hiring of a very inexperienced No2. Plus much of the back room staff were made redundant in the summer. Can we afford to sack him and bring some one else in is the big question.

You will probably find some of the older ones do if they want to remain in the game. Its not a conflict of interest unless the age group they coach comes up against a team they play in. Not likely to happen.

Cook is the best manager on the bookies list, but he’s probably only being mentioned because of the David Sharpe connection, and is fanciful and so is Cowley to a lesser extent.

Tisdale turned us down before Flitcroft I think, although I don’t think he was jobless then, I wouldn’t mind him or Clough. Alexander is more popular among the fanbase than I expected, I do feel he gets a tad unfair reputation on here but not for me.

I found out Cowley is on twitter today, but somehow he’s blocked me, the only thing I can find that I’ve posted on twitter about him is that he’s like Steve Evans on the touchline and that was ages ago, if he’s that sensitive he not be able to manage the nutters behind the dugout that fall out with every manager

He cried in his post match interview when we drew 2-2 at Lincoln and their groundsman hadn't watered the pitch to Cowley's desired level.

He got sacked not long after that.

We've actually sacked more groundsmen than managers in the last 10 years.

Cannot fault them for trying, just seems highly unlikely he would accept, and if he did and does well he will get taken by a Championship club in no time.

Prenton Park would be a more natural home for Cook, not that I think he would come here or go to Mansfield in reality.

Plus we don't have a vacancy (yet).

Some of the names bandied around are always fanciful - cook would be amazing (even if he managed at the riffraff across the m1 before they went shit), Clough has been mentioned - more realistic as he’s local and has strong ties to Nottinghamshire - concerning - Derry and Caldwell - er no thanks.

As said on stagsnet - when we got coughlan it was an amazing signing and all agreed - Bristol rovers were 4th etc etc in league 1, from what we knew it was a great signing and it just went to pot badly.

he’s signed no end of tripe - but we do have a midfield and attacking options that should be good enough to steer clear of relegation - but a solid managerial appointment is needed to e sure that happens

Pete Wild to Mansfield? Did relatively well for us in Oldham before our stupid owners decided to sack him.
