I'm not expecting him to turn it around quickly. We've been really poor for a while but if he could win a few games that would be excellent.

Adam Murray being considered. Stags fans know much about him?

For years, under Evans and Flitcroft, Murrays signings were always our best players... Hes got good contacts and himself and his staff put many hours into watching potential targets that fit the minimal fee to free transfer bracket.

He started off so well, managed to keep us up when we looked certain to go down with some experienced players added in January and then with his first squad of his own players on a very small budget we looked good and were about 4th In the league? After that we couldn't sustain playing the football he wanted and adapted to very negative tactics always trying not to loose rather than setting out to win... 5 at the back with a defensive midfielder in front was often to go to... and slid down the table and ended up mid table, followed by relegation fodder again the year after before Steve Evans came in.

I think he would have learnt a lot since then and he's well respected at Barnsley. His recruitment was excellent and I think with a good budget he'd of built a vert successful side.

Mal Benning is still with us and been the league best left back for a number of years now.

Genuine question - if Clough fails, how much more have the Radford’s got left in them trying to make it work?

I’ve gone for instant impact - 13/2 to win at Sunderland, doubled up with Hartlepool to win at Salford 4/1

How do you mean, financially or will power? It’s his hometown club. We are very fortunate compared to nearly every other L2 club.

Great work by them and Sharpe to convince Clough.

No matter what Conker says nobody bar Mr Radford or his accountant actually know the financially side of things. As for will power the Radford's have been very impressive.

Does this superb appointment bring back that drunkard stag from Espana? I hope so he's gone AWOL

Very good appointment of Clough in my outside opinion. I think under Sharpe and Clough you will turn things around, and I expect you to be challenging next season for the automatic spots. Whether too late to mount a challenge for this seasons playoffs, not sure. There is clearly a lot of work to be done though judging by Mansfield's performance against us last month

I post very rarely on Stagsnet. I would like to post more but it's difficult to debate anything; too much name calling and aggression and readership are too precious about certain topics. For example, on the Nigel Clough topic yesterday, the discussion developed into chat about Brian Clough. Instead of having a civilised, open discussion it descended into accusations of Clough snr being a homophobe and then others saying you're not allowed to discuss anything not about Nigel and to get behind the club.

It's not going to be just money. He's spent nearly all of his playing and managerial career in the NW, he's a Manchester lad, his lad plays for Man Utd so I'm assuming he'll be back with the family and he probably knows the '92' lot from his own time at Man Utd as well.

Haven't Swindon still got an investigation hanging over them as well around the owners and external shareholders/funding? That might be another reason why he's left.

There is always something happening with us!! Yes there is a court case towards the end of the month I think and there are a few rumours flying around that we are running out of money, we had money as a sell on for Bogle being sold by Derby and now the compensation for Wellens should tide us over but Power isn’t exactly a billionaire and so eventually we are going to struggle for cash - as are quite a lot of football clubs of course.

I expect Noel Hunt will be the next manager, cheaper internal change, or an out of work manager willing to come in on what I assume would not be a lot of money.

Should say that the court case is a civil action not a legal one. It’s to sort out who owns how much of the club and who is entitled to what upon the club being sold - which seems very likely to me.

Good point ID. Be good if the sale is to people who have a bit of wedge, even just to tide us over this season. Is this the Clem and Gareth Barry claim?

Yeah. Clem wants his 15% of the club for the £1.1m he gave Power ratified and the claim and counterclaim about whether it was Gareth Barry who stuck £800,000 in or his agent Standing.

On top of that you have that US company who Power said offered £7.5m to buy the club. Never dull, is it?

Certainly isn’t! At least a good cup run should swell the coffers.

Oh bugger!!

After today’s result at Port Vale, the Palios’s have a very difficult decision to make on appointing a new manager. It’s now going to be very difficult not to offer the job to Dawes/Parkinson.

You’ve never heard me say we would go up. Outlandish claims are your department, in which you’ve been wrong on every single occasion to date.
In Fact there has never been a more “ wrong“ poster in the history of 1ff than your good self!

It is getting interesting now regarding our management vacancy.

I think we are now at the stage where, barring the unlikely appointment of Cook, Cowley or Adkins, Dawes will be given the job until the end of the season.
