His whole style is about making a cult of personality around himself which the fans, players and the whole club really need to buy into to make it work. If there’s elements fighting against it or not quite onboard it’s not going to work because he’s a temperamental sort of person that will lash out (as is being seen here)

With respect to us, that’s easier to do at a smaller club which already had a certain level of togetherness and attitude about it engendered by John Still etc. He referred to those foundations many times in his first few seasons here as a great help to him. At clubs like Southampton and Stoke that are fighting against each other at times he’s not the sort of character to get them United in the first place and if anything his abrasive character will cause problems.

Huddersfield are a shambles club since they dropped out of the Prem.

Time for Colin Wanker?

Who knows. I got the impression from those I talked to and sat with at the weekend that Fotheringham was not well-liked at all.
No when we played them in December they certainly wanted him out then.

He did replace the local lad who maybe wasn't given enough time which probably wasn't helpful.

Having seen how his Doncaster team played the other night, despite winning, can see why Danny Schofield might struggle in management.

Things off the field seem a mess at Huddersfield currently with possible takeovers etc. Think the squad, used right, has probably got enough to stay up.

Pretty embarrassing for Nathan id expect. His character is simply not suited to the top level both in terms of his man management style but also his manner in dealing with the media. He always had an odd way of talking with us, with the extra level of scrutiny at the top level he essentially puts an additional target on his back over and above the results.

Sad really as he deserved the opportunity for what he did here but he is done at a top level now for sure its gone that badly.

Also done immense damage to young and up and coming managers through the EFL as well. This will be in the back of the mind for any Premier league side who might be looking at the EFL for a new manager. It was already a rare thing, will be even more so now id expect.

Hed have done better to wait for them to be relegated and gone this summer as all the ties were there and theyd have been more supple to his oddities. Opportunity knocks when it does.

TFCH nailed it all above on his style. Not bothered at all either way. No glee or sadness. He got his money, made his bed. Tainted now tho for sure and very unlikely he will ever find backing like he got from our Club

Bugger.............he saved us in 2016 and I wouldn't bet against him doing it again for Huddersfield.

Tonight’s game where we’ve missed a boat load of chances, reminded of a game under NJ in league 2 against I think Cheltenham where he had a massive go at Harry Cornick in his post game press for “hitting every seat in the stand and not the goal”.

Shows something of the mentality of the team here and likely Harry Cornick himself that he didn’t throw his toys out of the pram and demand a move and also demonstrates very neatly why Nathan was and will likely never be cut out for managing top level players. Never get away with that at a premier league club

Eye-watering amount Nathan Jones cost Southampton revealed with club to pay sacked boss for three and a half more years

SOUTHAMPTON'S decision to sack manager Nathan Jones has cost the club millions with him set to be paid his three-and-a-half-year deal in full.
The Welshman was dismissed after just 94 days in charge of the club as he failed to turn the club's fortunes around.
Nathan Jones' sacking has cost Southampton millions
Jones lost seven of his eight Premier League matches, taking his record to only five wins from 14 in all competitions.
the club paid Jones' former employers Luton a total of £4million to get him out of his contract at the Championship side, according to The Telegraph.
The ex-Stoke boss was reportedly on a contract worth £1.25m at the Saints and he is set to receive payment for all of the three-and-a-half years he was expected to stay.

I don't blame any manager for shitting on their current club with the money on offer now. A bad six month and the club would shit on them anyway.

Alex Neil for example, dumping Sunderland, it's not going well but the man is a multi-millionaire after a crappy playing career.

Really thought he would do better there, I actually fancied him over Edwards at the time so quite surprised it’s not worked out with quite a talented young team.

I wonder if they might fancy NJ to replace him

Ainsworth looking likely apparently for QPR. Interesting one, kind of unique situation at Wycombe where he as mostly total control and freedom

Leaving a club where you have been for a long time and done well doesn't always work out..

true, but he may feel he's taken us as far as he can, and with good reason. Even if we got back in the Championship (far from a given), the best we could hope for resource-wise would be to be another Rotherham, with their backs to the wall all the time.

Yeah, PNE fans always clamour over him. I'd avoid personally.

Watford set to sack Bilic apparently. Wilder the favourite to take over.

I take it the club only appoints managers on short term contracts, otherwise the compensation paid out would be astronomical.

Hopefully..

This one kind of makes sense to a lot of fans and they won't be disappointed he has gone.

In fact a lot questioned how Bilic had lasted this long!

Looks like Wilder will be coming in for the rest of the season which means we will be looking for another manager come May as certainly little chance of us going up.

Trust us to appoint someone whose last 2 jobs saw him leave a team bottom of the league

The whole thing is absolutely insane really. I feel like a lot of the individual firings are seen as justified by Watford fans but it’s so bloody obvious that the managers are NOT the problem at the football club that to keep on justifying it is just beyond comprehension to me.

Even now it’s Wilder to the end of the season. What’s the plan here? Get a few results and then give it him full time to be in the same spot 8/9 months down the line probably

Oh yes most do blame the board for poor recruiting of players and managers but they aren’t going anywhere.

Thought you might have started down the right path, when you brought in Edwards - kind of a step back to go forwards, build some foundations and accept some short term “finding yourselves” for some potential long term stability, but that didn’t last long.

Not even saying that Bilic going is the wrong move but unless it comes with a culture change and not another attempt at a quick fix what’s the point really.
