Gorgeous freekick from the man with all the flair, James Milner. Don't often see players just curl the ball around the wall, almost inch perfect. Chelsea's league.
Absolutely gutted. We defended heroically. Could see that free kick was heading in from the moment it left Milner's boot - curled beautifully beyond the wall and an outstretched McGregor.
Our next two games could either turn our season around completely or see us almost guaranteed relegation.
We won the league title in 2012. I believe that was when our squad was at it's peak. Hart. Zabaleta. Kompany. Toure. Silva. Aguero. These were our key players that season.
3 years on and these 5 players are still our key players. Zabaleta is out of form. Kompany is out of form. Toure has been missing on international duty. Aguero isn't quite 100% yet. We've basically been pulled through christmas by the brilliance of Silva. Now teams are just marking him out of the game and we haven't got a plan B. Instead we have Navas, the most frustrating player in the premier league, and 2 defensive holding midfielders who are (guess) yep, out of form.
It may be a case of taking a couple of seasons not winning titles or even challenging, but we need to desperately rebuild the squad. Just like Chelsea in '11, just like United in '13, our squad is aging badly and we need to do something about it. We have an academy, lets flippin' use it.
