Is it too soon to offer an 18 year old a wage like that?
His career has started bright but we've seen it happen with so many players in the past and watched them crumble to nothing, getting rejected by League two teams and such...

I wrote a bit about it in my blog.
http://thepenaltyking.blogspot.co.uk...-cashford.html

I also want to ask whether or not high wages for young players can potentially be bad for their careers? Look at Berahino as an example; offered a huge wage hike and began to think he was bigger than the club...

Federico Macheda 2.0

That was Nick Powell. Thingumy Wilson was 3.2, Adamski Jazzmag was 4.1.

The dev team are still waiting on the software update version of Depay.ncr, Matrial.nth and Lingard.nrg

You mean James Wilson? He's only 20, hasn't hit his full potential yet.

Let's hope he can eventually develop into a fully-fledged world-class star like Kelechi (already fulfilled all of his) Promise Iheanacho.

Some times I just think that a player will see his bank balance, £20,000 rolling in every week and he'll just assume he's "made it"
He's played 2 games, that kind of wage could potentially be damaging on his career at this stage.

Look at Berahino, signed a £15,000 a week contract and then thought he was bigger than West Brom...no player is bigger than the club he plays for.

Not necessarily bad for their careers but bad for them. Top footballers have a strange life really, lots of money and lots of free time, it's a dangerous combination. Giving a teenager a million pound salary isn't a good thing in my opinion, there's too much temptation out there.

In general, I have no issues with what a club chooses to pay its staff. I think the figures are obscene but it's their choice. I would like to see a wage cap for youngsters though. Once they're playing week in week out then fair enough but at this stage, keep it modest so they concentrate on their football.

Wages are only going to go up. Clubs are getting £90m for finishing bottom this season. That money's not coming in from people watching the shareholders, so it's only fair that the players are well paid. They are the ones generating the wealth. (Oh yes. I went there. Footballers wages are socialist!)

I do think it takes a lot of the hunger away from younger players, though. Especially when they are pampered and looked after 24/7 from a young age. They need to experience the real world to know how lucky they are.

Jan Molby tried very hard to be...

But yeah, Rashford has played, what, three games and score four goals? It's a great start but now he's instantly going to be richer than anyone he's ever met (apart from other footballers) and is being told he could be going to the Euros. Where's the inspiration for him to dig in and keep improving?

you'd hope he'd look at some of the players you've and others have mentioned as insiration to keep fighting to be the best. i feel the best become the best because they have that motivation, as long as the renumeration keeps coming they will continue to self motivate.

Is this all because of a report in the Sun of all papers? In anycase it depends on the player. Some players have the work ethic to be the best and keep working to be better some are just interested in the Money. Time will tell if Rashford has the mindset to make himself as good as he can or whether he'll waste his career and talent like Ravel Morrison and countless others.

Personally i'd prefer youngsters have mainly incentivised contracts but the reality is if he just cares about Money someone else will offer it him sooner or later if United don't if he keeps showing the promise he is currently.

One of those games he scored two goals in was against a weak European team.
We love to big people up to soon in this country.

£20k is not a massive amount in the current climate. I'm sure there are some academy players that have not even been in the first team that are on £15k in England.
