What a horribly uninspiring appointment.

I don't give a fuck as long as it results in a bit more effort tonight. Surely they can't be as bad as they have been recently and perhaps will give United a game. Unlikely but you never know.

Smacks of desperation. Great opportunity for Lambert to rejuvenate his career mind.

Keep them up, job done.

Gets rid of Pulis, football too boring. Gets rid of Hughes, targets O'Neill and then hires Lambert.

My pre-season Stoke relegation bet is looking gooooooood.

You think Denise will let her global brand fall away from the audience of the PL? Oh you're silly. Stoke will be fine duck.

20 Lambert & Relegation, please.

I'm not so sure. He did a great job at Norwich- similar sized club to Stoke. Crap long term appointment considering they were regulars in the top half, the later stages of cups and playing in Europe not too long ago, but I can see him keeping them up.
My mind has certainly been swayed by recent scoffed at appointments that have actually done well, though.

My wife and her family support Norwich and I’ve taken in a few games with them over the years (25 or so). He’s easily the best manager they’ve had since Mike Walker. How he made Premier League players out of the likes of Russell Martin and David Fox always mystified me! Lambert also did pretty well with a seriously underfinanced Aston Villa, that squad was beyond bad.

Whether he’s a “rejuvenator” is another thing. It’s a long term appointment in my opinion - if they are relegated with him I’m sure he’ll bring them straight back up and keep them up comfortably.

I actually feel like this could be a pretty good appointment. Stoke's squad isn't bad, they've just lost all direction and understanding. I don't think it'll take too much to get them playing better.

if they stop playing guys from 2005 like Crouch, Fletcher, Sidwell & Ireland they'll start picking up points.

The appointment of Lambert has been met with similar vitriol as the appointment of Moyes.

Wonder if it will turn out similar.

If you follow a venn diagram of experience in the Premier League, interest and track record Lambert isn't too far off what you would expect. He's definitely a better option than Rowett (credit for getting a new contract if he wasn't even in the frame.)

This is doubly good news in that Lambert won't become Scotland Manager - his comments that Scottish football making the wrong decision in demoting Rangers should disqualify him.
