Ah okay thanks. He looks decent. Thought Tranmere would have taken more!

Bit of a wildcard signing last summer, had been at York. We all rolled our eyes and tutted at Hurst, but he had a very good season, taking Scott Brown's place. Has been out of the side over the last few games since bringing Robinson in on loan form Luton.
Spent a few games with us too a few seasons back. Very solid player.

What do you grimsby fans on here think about signing Tomlinson? Good or bad?

I'll take that point. Doubt grimsby fans will be content with it though!

Shit game this, no flow to it at all. Constant stop start with fouls and sloppy passes conceding possession.

Also, why do BT Sport persist with Mark Clemitt asking the managers inane questions during the game?!
Didn't think it was a particularly shit match. Won't argue with what you're saying though. The Tranmere players took a few unfortunate knocks and they also scored from a sloppy piece of ball control. However (at the risk of being flagged up by a Chester fan, a League Two supporter or a Romanian Eastleigh fan), I do think we were comfortably better than Tranmere over the 90. Especially, the last 20-25 minutes. Some really good defending from Tranmere, in the last ditch sense, at times though. Hill had a very good game.

What do you grimsby fans on here think about signing Tomlinson? Good or bad?
Bogle and Amond is the first choice for 99.9% of Town fans. Most of us are happy with Pittman too, however with Amond being out today and Pittman not having a great injury record, he's a decent enough option in my opinion. Unfavourable reviews from Barnet and Lincoln fans, but I'd rather make my own mind up. Thought he did alright tonight. Forced a good save from their keeper and a block from a defender on a goal bound shot. Thought he was harsh done by in the 91st minute when he was deemed to have tripped the Tranmere defender when the ball was going out of play, too.

If Tranmere are title contenders then we've got nothing to worry about. Then again we've only drawn against them. We were by far the better side yet couldn't come close to breaking through. We're at the stage of the season where we need to start flexing our muscles and showing what we're truly capable of. From now on we need wins and lots of them.

Thought Pittman and Clay were phenomenal. Bogle clearly has the talent but he's far too eager to succeed and its affecting his game. Once he settles down we'll have a wonderful player on our hands.

What unfavourable reviews were they? I think he's a good signing, as explained here :bye:

When was the last time Town kept a clean sheet, btw?

Nicely written article...is calling a Hearn a "poor sod" cool though?! I hope he doesn't read that. I thought Luke had slightly slated Tomlinson, but I got that wrong. Any negativity was coming from the Barnet fans.

14 games since our last league (not including the Eastleigh 2nd leg) clean sheet I think.

No arguments that Grimsby were the better side but I thought we were both pretty poor. Definitely didn't agree with Hursts comment that we passed the ball well, I don't remember us stringing more than about four passes together the whole game. Also Brabins post match comments always seem to bare no relevance to anything, I sometimes wonder whether he's watched the same game.

TOP SCORERS IN THE TOP 6 TIERS THOUGH

Can't believe Hurst hasn't somehow bent science, time travel and logic in shape and got our defence from last year and attack from this year in addition to not having the foresight to cryogenically freeze James McKeown in 2013/14 and unfreeze him this season and also he didn't get Fenty to throw more money at Nathan Pond when we had him. If he'd have done all this, we'd definitely be in at least the fucking playoff spots right now.

We were hanging on for the last 25 minutes, made up to get away with a point. And for all their possession and chances in the last 20 (it was very much even before then), we defended very well for a chance, even with Marcus Fucking Holness playing most of the game.
The chips were disappointing btw, and I had to don my best Lincolnshire accent to get into the home fans only pub prematch.

Yep, don't remember any Lincoln fans being anything but gutted to see Tomlinson go, with good reason too. Good forward at this level even if 99% of his career goals have been against us.

You have played 4 more games than people in all the above divisions, and at least one more than all those in lower...

That's a lot of draws for you so far. In a title race it's draws that are really costly as losses are a kick up the backside, but draws are nearly as bad with the points dropped but not the motivation to improve that the occasional loss can provide.

Unfortunately for us Hurst loves draws and he'll take them any day of the week.

I didn't watch all the game but of the bits I saw neither team liked particularly good. Both teams have good individuals but there was lots of loose play in midfield and sloppy defending. Both teams a long way off the required standard at the moment.

Studio guests tonight are Kevin Davis and former Wales goalkeeper Danny Coyne who started his career at Tranmere and played over 100 games for them before signing for us. He made nearly 200 appearances for us and probably our 2nd best keeper in my lifetime, after Nigel Batch.

I wonder who he'll be supporting?

Nigel batch was class, he used to interact and talk with the home end whenever he came to prenton park, he did look a tad too much like jeremy beadle for my liking though, lol

Grimsby were the better side over 90 minutes, but there wasn't a vast difference between the teams. Grateful for the point.

Grimsby are a more settled side in this league so happy with a point. Had we beaten Southport we'd be where most Tranmere fans expected us to be at this stage.

Need to kick on now though, should be winning every game at home if we are going to be in and around top spot come April.

Not sure what to expect from us tomorrow, if we play like we did on Tuesday against Grimsby then we have a fair chance of getting something out of it. Can't afford a performance on the lines of last week though as we'll probably just get mashed if so, and we could do with a win now.

Hopefully we turn up, big incentive for the players to impress with Richard Hill gracing our presence casting his beady eye over proceedings, I'm genuinely honoured to welcome him, I might even bow down, watch this space.

CAPS Jemfy, I wasn't suggesting that having scored a lot has aided us well so far. The GA column is proving to be more damning so far than the GF column is helpful.

Up until last night though, we did have the best goals per game average in all the top 5 tiers.

Your signing of Craig Braham-Barrett has given this game a little bit extra tonight. Words cannot describe how much he is despised by some.

I'm not surprised considering he was part of the team that got you relegated. Few players are remembered fondly from the side that got us relegated to Conference South. I'd expect him to start today, unless we're prepared to play a winger at full-back again.

Scrappy game last night, for some reason games in this league always look worse on TV then what they seem like when you're there. Can see both sides making the top 5, for me Tranmere appear to have the stronger squad, but both will struggle to be consistent enough to challenge for the title.

I'm hoping that The Beast starts for us today, he'll be keen to do well against Macc and I'd like to see how a front 2 of him and O'Connor works. On paper it looks good, but we've not really tried it too often yet. We also will need to reshuffle defensively, what with losing 2 left backs on Tuesday.
