Still think it's far from over, we were always hoping for Cheltenham to shit the bed and if they do we're still in it despite today's loss, it's just a matter of whether they do or not.

This is a clear example of us not being able to adapt though. Hurst won't mind since we're still on target for the playoffs.

The only positive from today is that when FGR's late winner went in, i couldn't have given a flying fuck because i had already conceded that the title was out of reach.
Had we won today i would have been seriously pissed off with that late FGR goal, so cheers Gateshead!

There is aways the play offs. Oje of either Cheltenham or FGR will burn themselves out in the title race, leaving a stalking horse to pop up and win the play offs. Grimsby seem best equipped to do that for me.

I still fancy us to win the play offs, but to be virtully out of the title race (in my humble opinion) with such a talented squad, is pretty disheartening to be honest.

Good to be back up to 5th, even though a few teams below us have games in hand.

Absolutely. It's a year with no stand out teams and the title there for the taking. Given the probable outlay putting together your squad you should be competing right till the end.

The again, still a fair few games left to play. You just have to start being more consistent.

Jammy, jammy win with Macc the better most of the game IMO. They maybe didn't make enough clear chances though, so we gifted them one with a underhit Moore backpass.
Started with Guthrie which I liked and first ten minutes were bright but couldn't get hold of it in midfield.
Not the best view of the two late goals, both scrambled in off defenders knees I think.
Top of the league in no style whatsoever [emoji3]

Wouldn't call it a two horse race yet, long way to go... but it seems Grimsby can't eek out the tough wins like ourselves and FGR. Not at all surprised with FGR's late winner, just knew it was coming after they equalised.

As for our game, pretty much back to our best today against a pretty poor Bromley side. Holman was class, looks so skillful and clinical. Could've had about 8. Shame to concede from a mistake but I'll take the 4-1 win and a very good performance.

Wow a very different Cheltenham Town side, couple of changes bringing in Rowe and Dayton, two new signings Holman looking as class a front runner we've had in years and Burgess alongside Parsloe very strong.
Really thought we would have to dig deep against Bromley but totally dominated them.
Gary Johnson's pulled a bit of a masterstroke.
Holmans goals were top drawer and Danny Wright smacked another couple.
Seems we've had a splutter but having taken the foot off for the last half an hour it could have been a lot more.
Great team performance.

A fair result today but a disappointing one, really. Barrow might be alright if they bought a defence. We could do with finding another striker from somewhere. LOL at Scott Griffiths own goal. Linesman got hit the face in the first minute and had to go off injured.

One point until we're safe.

Alfreton 2 (Jones 56,79) Nuneaton 2 (Harewood 48, Whitehouse 75)

Well I have just the witnessed the worst ever performance by a Ref ever seen at the Impact Arena/ Miss Elizabeth Simms was so far out of her depth it was a joke! She never had control of the game from minute one.

Where do I start?

The First half was pretty poor fare. Neither side really doing anything. However we did have two penalty shouts. One was especially stromg. Former Alfreton Defender was all over the back of Sam Smith in the box. So much so that he forced him to the ground but nothing doing for the ref.

We thought that was bad well worse was to come. A "block tackle from Todd Jordan on the edge of the area was adjudged was to be a foul and Nuneaton were awarded a Penalty. Everyone from both sides were shocked. There was no appeal what so ever. Shocking decision. Duke saved the initial pen but Harewood dispatched the rebound.

Sam Jones then levelled matters with a moment of individual brillance turning twice in the box befire finding the bottom corner.

Then came a huge goalmouth scramble invovling sevral players after a Alfreton Corner. The ball appeared to cross the line from a Nuneaton defenders boot who apparently according to Alfreton gfans behind the goal used an arm in trying to keep the ball out. Miss Simms gived nothing and allows the situation to descend in to a rugby scrum before awarding Nuneaton a Free kick. Couldnt see whether it cross the line from where I was but the scramble seemed to last an age.

Nuneaton took the lead again with 15 to go when Former Red finished well after a good 1-2 with the evregreen Harewood. The Reds were level though just 4 minutes later when sam Jones hooked Bradleys cross past the stricken keeper.

Then in the final minutes. Another contentious decision. Dan Bradley put Jamie Jackson clean through and as he closed in on the on rushing keeper the last defender Rowe-Turner clearly pulled him back. While falling Jackson managed to stab the ball goalwards but it went inches wide. Everyone expected it to be pulled back for a Penalty but no the Ref "had played advantage"!

Unbelievable.

After all that a draw was just about a fair result. Its stretches our unbeaten run to 8. Bring on Monday and our trip to Curzon Ashton

No. Where you there to witness her performance? Regardless of sex, the ref performance was not up to standard. That was plain to see.

Come on, he's being facetious and you can't even shoot back at a user called "Whit Army" and call him racist?...

I guess the only difference in your post than if the ref was a man is that you actually bothered with her name, which mostly people don't do.

We were miles better than Bromley today and the 4-1 scoreline flattered them, Forest Green scoring late was a blow but I feel confident we will win the league still.

Don't care about FGR, and have been telling people about that since the final whistle today. As long as we do our job, no-one else matters.

As for us today, we were fantastic. I thought we started quite slowly, but once Holman's first goal went in (cracking turn and shot by the way) that was it. We could have been 3 or 4 up at half-time and could easily have had 6/7 before taking our foot off the gas in the last 20 mins or so. I'm a bit disappointed we let Bromley score, with Phillips being beaten at his near post.

Main positives for me today:
- Dan Holman looking like the natural finisher we've been missing since Steve Gillespie went to Colchester in 2008.
- Cameron Burgess looking very assured and a decent replacement for Aaron Downes.
- James Dayton looking like the League One player we thought we'd initially signed for the first time
- Our run of poor performances and lucky wins coming to an end

Negatives:
- Grimsby - as strange as it sounds, I like them being in the race as they're extra pressure on FGR and, as I said before, if we don't go up I'd rather they do. I certainly won't rule them out yet.
- The way our fans seem to concentrate too much on FGR's results. We tore Bromley apart today and at the end there was hardly any celebration because people were more concerned with FGR getting a late goal.

Guiseley are terrible, as I suspected they would be after seeing them earlier in the season. Wonder if Steve will have his tinpot little toy Lion or whatever out tonight.
So terrible the mighty Imps could only manage to score one goal against us in each of our games.
I thought we were far too negative up to the substitutions but that seems to be our tactics right now. We had Rothery and Norburn missing from our midfield today which was a big loss as we just reverted to hoofing to Boyes rather than our usual passing game - a complete waste of time.
We came to life in the last 20 minutes with Dicko up front, he should have been on far sooner given our hoofing. It actually became a contest at that point and pretty much one way traffic until the end, we had plenty of chances to equalise. Disappointed not to come away with a point in the end.

Strange with some fan's attitude, no league has ever been won in January.
Bags of points left yet, no ones anywhere near home and dry. I cringe sometimes

Fair enough. Perhaps I was a bit harsh! Yes I suppose the casual fan doesnt pick up the name of the ref!

5 wins in 6, but my word Torquay are bad. Worst side I've seen at Prenton Park for a long time, possibly ever. They don't look to have a prayer of staying up if that's any indication of their usual standard. Note to the referee, Jason something, who is up there with the most inept I've seen in a long time. Torquay should have ended with about 8 players and he missed a blatant punch to the kidney by Norwood on their No.5, who also could have had about 6 yellows by himself.
1 game at a time and see where it takes us.

It was shocking. We can't control what they do, nor them us.

Whats the point in worrying about FGR - its a fact that if you win every game from now until the end of the season you win the league

Sounded like we were lucky to get a draw out of Woking, but 4 points from them and Welling away isn't bad and we've got 10 home games to 6 away left - we'll be safe, and maybe kick on for a mid-table finish.

On today's performance - we were not as good as our last 2 games, but we had one moment of quality to win the game while Kidderminster's striker missed a sitter one on one with Smith. Can't complain with 3 points and a clean sheet though!

Thought Kidderminster battled hard and had a few reasonable bits of play but their lack of quality in the final third is why they will be playing in Conference North next season (from what I saw today)
