Just a (not so) tasty treble of games in the league tonight.

Macc vs Alty
Alfreton vs FGR
Southport v Eastleigh

Reported my old thread for delete just use this one. Three home wins would be great for us but don't want Southport getting too much momentum before the weekend!
Just hope we give a good account of ourselves this time, working myself tonight so can''t be at the match look forward to seeing the comments on here after i return home!

I don't think we can play any worse than we have against them already this season, and I should think JA has given them a bit of a kicking after saturdays poor showing too. Got to be confident at home, but just a little worry in the back of my mind that they've got a little something over us this year. Just any kind of win tonight please!

I've never been to Moss Rose. I know I'm standing in the John Askey terrace - do home fans tend to mainly sit, or do they have a standing area?

Alty haven't conceded more than 1 in their last 7 outings, proving there are going to be very hard to break down. i think breaking down teams is probably one of our biggest weaknesses and wouldnt be surprised to see a bore draw tonight.

Home fans stand all the way behind the dugouts and also there is standing behind the opposite goal to yourself. Top end of London Road is usually closed though so there won't really be any home fans in close contact.

EDIT: I would also suggest getting something to eat and drink before the game as we usually sell out after the first 3 pies and it's usually hit and miss whether they have any hot water.

I expect Macc to turn over Alty. But Southport were absolutely woeful in the second half Saturday, having said that though if Eastleighs goalkeeper has a similar performance to Saturday where he dropped 3 huge clangers then anything is possible!

Tonight for us is abit of a free hit. We arent expected to win our GD is already awful so we might as well go for it. Id snap your hand off if you offered me a point but I just think FGRs attack even without Lee Hughes will have too much for our defence. A point from tonight and a win on Saturday at Braintree would be brill!

Duly noted, thanks for the info. Looking forward to it.

I'd rather 3 away wins. Alfreton and Southport winning would be a disaster!

It looks like, barring some sort of meltdown, Macc are going to make the play-offs. We're one of the teams that managed a win against them (at home) and God knows how we dominated the game at Moss rose and still managed to lose 3-1. Tremendous admiration for them as they pitch up against the teams with budgets many times theirs. I'm rooting for you guys.

Although its a poorer league this year i think it goes to show with a manager who knows what hes doing and players with the right mentality you can crack this league. If Askey had the budget that king got or even half of it in our first season down here i wouldn't be posting in this forum now.

Add me to the Macc bandwagon, purely on the basis that the other three currently inhabiting the play-offs have little to no likeability to them from my perspective.

I would be surprised if Eastleigh do not win by at least 3 goals tonight, but that could mean the game ending 3-6, as our defence are letting in shed loads and our keeper is having a confidence crisis.

If we weren't involved then I'd vote Macc.

Bloody hell, at this rate we'll have more fans on here than we have from our own town turning up to home games.

We seem to raise our game when playing better sides and obviously we'll be motivated as it's the derby. I could see us sneaking a draw.

If we lose the unlikely playoff dream is officially over.

Thank you DSL.
Tbf to Flits, he only dropped one clanger at the weekend, which was really him parrying a stinging shot to the oncoming striker who tucked it away, but he was beaten at the near post for the first and i think the second was a deflected shot. But he has been making a few mistakes in games that he wasn't making before. He is a decent keeper though, although his kicking isn't great, but we have no back up (just a kid keeper) so there's no one to keep him fresh and on his toes. Saying that, i suspect most teams in this league do not really have a decent/experienced back up keeper, so we are all in the same boat & just hope our keepers can keep up their concentration levels all season, which can't be easy. It doesn't help that we do not have a settled back four in front of him either.
