Friday 25th March:
Braintree v Bromley
Cheltenham v Boreham Wood
Eastleigh v Welling
Forest Green v Aldershot
Gateshead v Macclesfield
Tranmere v Lincoln

Saturday 26th March:
Chester v Barrow
Dover v Torquay
Grimsby v Wrexham
Halifax v Altrincham
Southport v Guiseley
Woking v Kidderminster

Some interesting games in the first half of the Easter programme. Saturday sees a clash at the top end and Blundell Park and two crucial bottom end of table games at Halifax and Southport. A game which might yield a surprise is Boreham Wood's trip to Cheltenham, as can see the visitors snaffling a point.

I'll be at the surprisingly televised game in Birkenhead between Rovers and Lincoln. The Imps have been a bit of a bogey side for Rovers this season, yet to score against them in 3 attempts. It's hard to see beyond a dull draw, terminating both sides hope of escaping the National League, though Scott Fenwick may have different ideas [he says over-optimistically]

Does the Forest Green scoreboard go into double figures?

Yes. It wont need to though. We don't do thrashings. We'll go 1 up early and then sit back, unless you're really really shit, in which case we might accidently score a couple more.

Would be happy to shake hands on a 2 niller and then both clubs can have a couple of extra days off to prepare for Monday.

Any reason for the split of games? I gather there's a TV match but what about the rest.

Would prefer a Friday game for the extra day rest before playing Monday.

Would hope we can keep our play off ambitions on track over Easter with a home game v Bromley on friday and our away v Aldershot on monday. However we have inury concerns over several key players.

We are at Gateshead this weekend. I'm not expecting much of a result given our recent form but I'm glad Gateshead have offloaded Jimmy Phillips to Alty before he could score against us. Thanks to the date of this game being changed to Friday at very short notice, I can no longer make the match. Instead I will be watching the England U17 team play at Leek Town on Saturday, which will probably be the only sell out at any non-league ground this weekend!

Our 2nd and last chance at a double this season. After failing against Aldershot I really hope we can achieve it against Woking.

Six points this weekend and we will do enough to stay up, any less than four and we won't deserve to. It's time to show some metal.

Think it's so teams can give themselves a 2 day recovery period instead of 1. Especially given the Friday bank holiday won't effect the crowd really. I'm surprised more clubs haven't agreed to it to be fair.

You'll be fine. They'll only score the one goal, commit to gamesmanship, then assault a few of your players if they get extra bored.

Has Jake Kirby had his head stitched back on yet after the FGR game?

Whilst their fans insult the opposition fans with vile people, towns a shithole, you're all just jealous, etc.

...and visitors sing songs about liking their sausages, us being a town full of vegans and sticking our veggie burgers somewhere that the sun doesn't shine...etc, etc, etc and so on, ad infinitum.

Best case scenario by Sunday we could be 5 points clear of 6th with 2 games in hand.

Hopefully this is a good weekend for Kent football (Dover, Welling and Bromley) and Lincolnshire (Lincoln and Grimsby). Could be massive for us

That seems less offensive...

No Caton, Stanley or McCombe for us - three players that would probably start. Given that players are leaving on loan and last week's line-up against Kiddy didn't look quite right, there's been an air of 'the season's over, let's try things out' since the Dover game. I'd rather that wasn't the case tomorrow.

I'll be taking the opportunity tomorrow to cut the lawns as opposed to watching!

No reason, just the Club's preference. I'm surprised all Clubs don't change their Saturday games to Good Friday.

I wish we'd moved ours to Good Friday, then I'd only have to have 2 hangovers in 4 days instead of 3 :ffs:

I understand the presumed reasons both clubs want to play on the Friday instead, but I can't understand the short notice when surely it could've been done weeks prior. Also I've seen no explanation for it at our end, what about yours?

Yes, no personal insults in there is there?

By the way, you are not one of the FGR fans I was referring to as you are one of the best ones on here.

I would tend to agree with that but also go with the view that the only way to find out if something really is offensive is to ask someone who it is directed at. I hate the song about wanting to go home, have never sung it and never will, along with that dreadful one about fans having an affection for sheep...although, despite my club allegiance, will happily state that I love eating lamb! I prefer to sing songs in praise of my own team, when they do something half decent, rather than just abusing the opposition or their supporters.

Or take it one step further like some of our fans did at Halifax and abuse our own manager and players.

I prefer to sing about being French. There was a particularly unsavoury song about Harvey Price at Crabble the other week, so unnecessary.

I agree with you there.

I just had a look at the Grimsby v Wrexham head to head record and the good news is that since being down here we've played Grimsby 11 times, 3 wrexham wins 4 draws (counting the FAT as a draw) and 4 defeats. So due a Wrexham win. That's how it works isn't it?

Edit: I missed a Grimsby win. Damnit!

We sing about coming from the West Country, not being able to read or write and driving tractors, self deprecating and pretty inoffensive. Mind you, singing "you dirty northern b.....s" at Cheltenham was funny, if not particularly inventive.

Wow, a decent FGR fan. THEY EXIST. *Hallelujah*

I'm absolutely not watching our game tomorrow, I will be busy playing poker instead.

We have Gurjit Singh and Jordan Tunnicliffe returning from their loans and are expected to play at some point this weekend. We also have Elton Ngwatala returning from surgery and is expected to play some part.

Wrexham at home from last season brings back terrible memories. Killed off our title campaign. Will it do the same this season?:gmc:

Small dose of revenge after you did the same to us in the Fleetwood title winning season! In fact, a win tomorrow will go another small way to getting over that.

In all seriousness, be delighted with a draw. But get the feeling we need to win one these two games vs Grimsby and Cheltenham to keep up any play-off hopes.. Braintree and Dover just keep winning and have favourable games this weekend.

Braintree are playing the team 6th in the form table and we have the team in 4th, not easy games at all.
