Just wanted to grasp the general thoughts of everybody on this topic. I seem to remember people not being best pleased on this topic when certain decisions were made and so - I'll let you lot decide what happens.

1) Matchday threads are left in the main forum areas until say (Tuesday evening?) after a Saturday game (Probably the best idea IMO)

2) All threads discussing matches going immediately into the match day sub forum..(risks people missing them)

3) We leave the match day sub-forums all together and just let threads stay in main forum areas...(risks looking untidy)

I'm assuming this is for Prem to L2?

I think the vast majority will prefer ours to be left as they were i.e. just one match thread and left to fall down the page.

Match day sub-forum!

At least for the the Premier League section, otherwise it will be a complete cluster-fuck. It's already a mess in there and the real football debate goes on in the non-matchday threads, it is annoying when they get pushed down the forum for someone to update us with "good goal" or "team A are shit lol".

Yeah as what Luke said for us in Non league, we are fine we just have one match day thread and everyone is happy.

Agreed, I voted for "3) We leave the match day sub-forums all together and just let threads stay in main forum areas...(risks looking untidy)" on the basis that I only use the Non-League forum.

Doesnt really effect me because we just have one general match thread but i read the premier league ones and it would be so disorganised without it. Definitely needs a matchday subforum, people are used to it anyway.

I like the way the real fans in non league do it, ie one match day thread for all games and it falls down the page as the week goes on. Next season when we are back in Lge 2 it should be that way too. Certainly not "shit fred" titles anyway!!

I voted for option 3, which is how we used to do it in League 1 on TFF.

Im a bit of a geek for records and numbers and things, so if you want anyone to take responsibility for starting all the Prem threads, Im all for it?

The issue of individual match threads was discussed at length in League Two in the summer when Luton and Cambridge came up, and their fans were used to there being a single weekly thread, as there was in the Non League forum. At first they mostly thought that was the best way to do it but soon most of them came round to the idea of one thread per match.

It may be difficult for Prem and Champ fans to believe but there were actually enough fans of lower league clubs to make individual threads for games not only practical but almost essential. I know you may think that surely in League Two a match thread for a single game would have only 2 or 3 replies, but many of them ran to 3 or 4 pages. To have a single thread with 12 different discussions going on over the top of each other, each of them perhaps adding a couple of pages of discussion, you could easily end up with monster threads of 24 pages, which make it impossible for a fan to follow just the conversation about their own team's game.

Ah yeah, the only forum you can get away with doing it is in non-league.

When we were in L2 the individual match threads also ran for ages. In the Conference, when you're playing Bath and there are no Bath fans on here it's pretty pointless.

I like option 1. Found on TFF looking across the leagues the matchday threads tended to get more activity when they were all on the main page, but then it would be nice to have a sub forum for them after the postmatch chat has ended for decluttering purposes but also so there's an archive where you can go back and read through past games.

to be fair it used to be individual match threads in non-league too, but then it was changed to a single thread and there was up roar about it as nobody likes change. Now nobody wants to go back.

I voted for 1 too. I think different leagues like it differently, I'd rather it was the way it was in league one but I don't mind either way.

No need for a sub section for match day threads (freds) in the League Two section but each game should have its own thread. I'm not too fussed on threads being moved to a subsection either, just let them drop off the bottom of the page when everyone's had their say.

Could almost do with a separate poll for each league, based on the thread so far. We minions in league 2 don't need a subsection for a start.

That's bollocks League One and two have more fans on here then PL and championship.

If anything they're the only two who don't!

Premier League match threads get more comments from fans of lower league teams though, especially the televised ones.

Option 1 definitely works best for League 1...can't comment on other leagues.

Perhaps have a different format tailored for each league.
