Member Feedback Required: Server Performance Tonight

OKAY folks, I'm on the phone with our host now. Server load is spiking intermittantly and we're going to identify whether during peak periods we need the server to pack a little more punch to see us through.

You're all welcome and encouraged to post here as often as you like - even if it's just 'running fine' or 'went slow for a few minutes but generally okay'. Any feedback is welcomed.

Tonight will help us gauge how we're going to run and whether we need a little extra. Makes sense to get a vast amount of feedback from different users so we have a clear idea.

The reason behind this is that server load stats are a little concerning in the last hour or so. Personally for me, the site is running largely well on rare occasions it seems to be grinding to a near halt before recovering after a minute or two.

Pages taking a good 20 seconds+ to load at the minute.

I just got an internal server error plus 404 message when I clicked on a thread in L2. Refresh put that right but now taking a bit longer for pages to load.

Same here, looking at possibility of adding 2 CPU's. One positive is that despite struggling with load infrequently, it's recovering pretty quickly. Room for improvement, but workable. Still on phone with host, watch this space.

Been running really slow for the last hour and a bit for me tonight.

Occasional post in the shoutbox not registering at all.

Site completely down. Can't remember the error, think it was something like "Connection timed out." . My internet was still up, and i was able to acess BBC Sport and YouTube.

Oh, and the back-up website used during site propagation wasn't working either.

Do you know how to do a traceroute if it happens again mate? I can instruct you if not. It would benefit us as the site was up for the majority today throughout, but clearly we still have isolated issues.

The host has asked people who recieve timed out connections to do a traceroute so they can investigate further.

I'm going to post instructions in a new thread shortly anyway.

If/when the website next fails to load for you, simply load the application Command Prompt on your PC and type the following;

tracert onefootballforum.co.uk

Then proceed to copy and paste the result in an email to onefootballforum@gmail.com or in this thread once you have access.

Anybody still experiencing occassional issues can do this. Please only do it when the site is NOT working for you, though!
