the club announced that it had a major cash flow problem and 80% of the the playing staff have left and 3 board members have resigned they travelled to Chesham United today and fielded an under 23 team and were trounced 13(THIRTEEN) one my thoughts are with the fans all though I personally have had issues with them I do feel for them #nonleaguefootball

Saw they played a 15 year old in year. Some baptism of fire that. What’s caused all the issues? Saw bits on twitter but more about the result rather than the cause

Got to feel for the fans, especially as they are a phoenix club already so for many of them it's the second time they've been through the uncertainties.

Hopefully it won't come to it but they might be the first phoenix phoenix-club? Unless I'm forgetting someone (super basket cases Farnborough don't count - i think they have only officially been reformed once anyway).

Ikeston Town FC are a phoenix phoenix club. The old Ilkeston Town were liquadated in 2010. Ilkeston FC was then set up but was shut down in the summer. Alan Hardy (Notts County chairman) then stepped in and set up new Ilkeston Town FC

As ever a good write up there on 200%. Whenever a club seems to be close to going to the wall that seems like the best place to go to for a fair understanding of what happened.

Put simply it just seems they overspent. Nothing too special happened, cash flow was impacted by lack of home games for a month, but that probably helped get the issues to air and get them sorted rather than keep them swept under the rug.
