On balance we deserved to win yesterday, but our defence got cut open multiple times by a poor Welling side which is worrying with Tranmere and Lincoln coming up.

Yet again the referees in this division astound me - somehow didn't really affect the game but I counted no less than 5 occasions where he gave free kicks against the player who was fouled.

Was hoping for a more convincing win to set us up for Tranmere on Saturday, but 3 points are always welcome. If we can beat Tranmere then the play-off push becomes a whole lot more real

It's alright, we won't be cutting anything open, we don't do incisive.

If Cheltenham and FGR lose this weekend then it's actually very nearly in our hands. Still a big ask but we're not actually as far behind as people think, it's just a matter of winning the games in hand, which we all know is not a simple task. I've said before I don't think we've got the bottle to do it.

Only worry is we could beat Cheltenham to only go and hand FGR the title which would be disgusting.

Our defense went completely missing for your goal though. Leaving Crocombe exposed to one shot was bad enough, there was no chance he was going to deal with a second shot.

Our main/only attacking threat came off the bench with 10 minutes to go, he's had a knock recently and we need him fit for the more important games where we stand more of a chance of getting a result.

I found it quite funny that your crowd objected to absolutely every decision that didn't go your way! The ref was far from perfect for both sides - O'Brien's yellow card could well have been a red (Cartwright may just have been in a position to cover though), Phenix somehow won us a free kick by managing to continually fall down over a distance of around 20 yards, and for you Arnold got away with wrestling Challinor when I've seen bookings given for what he did. You lot should have been more pissed off with your players for failing to take apart a struggling side who were on a long midweek away trip, and instead resorting to running down the clock in whatever way they could.

Can't really be pissed off with our players at this stage of the season for winning 1-0. Win 1-0 in every game from now until the end of the season at we'll be promoted (either automatically or through the play offs). I thought that when you changed formation after about 15 minutes you didn't look that bad a side but didn't really trouble McKeown in goal. Get yourself a proven goalscorer (don't ask me how) and you'll be a good side. Credit to your fans who made the journey too.

Fair assessment.
Well that's Guiseley ticked off my list and I won't be making that drive again. Awful traffic going and on the way back got stuck in the Valley Parade football traffic and then the M62 was shut at Oldham.
I once had a similar experience trying to get home from a V Motors game, motorway closed at that end, no map or satnav with me! What a pain in the ass

You don't need to be incisive. Welling were walking through them yesterday - it was like watching somebody play FIFA on amateur. Couple more defensive injuries yesterday - we now have 3 fit defenders and we'll still play a back 5.

The average age of our team last night was 22, with the oldest players being Jonny Hunt and Chapell, who are 25.

Worcester 1-1 Alfreton (Hughes 90+5, Jones 71)

Tough one to take last night. We were the better side for 80 minutes but struggled to create anything clear cut for much of the game. Dan Bradley and Meikle were dangerous but the final ball wasnt quite there. Sam Jones gave us the lead with 19 minutes to go after receiving a lay off from Jordan Robertson and firing past the on rushing keeper following good work down the left from Meikle.

Worcester struggled to create until they came on strong in the final 10 minutes. We defended too deep again panicked a bit and the pressure told in the 95th minute when the evergreen Lee Hughes popped up to head a free kick from the left past Matt Duke with pretty much the last kick of the game.

Nothing really to play for now in the remaining 9 games.

I was really hoping that I banged my head when I arrived at Chester, got concussion and what happened was just a nightmare. Sadly I've woken up this morning and the result hasn't changed.

I can understand the back 4 getting caught for pace once and maybe twice but FOUR times in one half was a disgrace, and the ridiculous thing was not one player thought about changing the defensive line, they just kept playing like everything was fine. The fact Oastler remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes was astounding, McGinty wasnt far behind him - for our club captain and team captain to show such naivety and a lack of leadership to change things on the pitch was shocking. Beckles and Alexander on the right side of the defence were not quite as bad but still nowhere near good enough.

As for our midfield, statues would have been more effective than Gallagher and Stevenson, Rhys Browne started ok but after about 20 minutes I dont think I saw him again. Dan Walker did ok going forwards to be fair, put in a few decent crosses and scored his first goal for the club (which will be forgotten in amongst what happened).

Up front Rasulo worked hard without having much impact on the game and Lafayette had a very good game and is the only reason why I could be bothered to name a man of the match on a coach (I felt not doing so would have been harsh on Ross, he was certainly not at fault for the shambles tonight and was the only player the manager gave any credit to after the game).

Despite all of our defensive failings, Phil Smith was as bad as Oastler and McGinty tonight - he was certainly at fault for 3 goals (The 2nd goal where he should have came out and got the ball, 3rd goal he was beaten at his near post and the 8th goal was a calamity that summed up our evening).

Barry Smith has quite rightly taken responsibility as manager, and if his tactics were to play a high line last night then it backfired horribly, because the Chester forward exploited that every time they played a ball forward. Now i'm not going to jump on the bandwagon of saying he should resign or be sacked just because we have been hammered in one game (I like to think im a bit more level headed than that), because over the season he has done a reasonable job - but he did also lose 7 in a row earlier this season and the last 2 performances (if you can call them that) have been unacceptable. Personally I couldnt care less about refunds (everyone on shotsweb seems to think those who travelled should get one), the only compensation I want on Saturday is a reaction from the players and 3 points.

You will stay up, calling it now, good manager, not a bad team, and seen a lot worse at BP this season

I'm not even surprised anymore, we were the worse team at 11 v 10 anyway. Thank Christ we got the points earlier in the season because we may not get another one.

Controlled the game against Halifax last night and restricted them to no shots on target, they did hit the post late on though when we sat back a bit. Minshull missed a couple of golden chances, but we managed to get the goal that mattered in the end. Rohdell Gordon has looked very good since coming in on loan from Stevenage and Cunnington won the battle against Bencherif comfortably. 4 wins out of 5 now, a shame we couldn't win at Chester on Saturday, but we go again against Guiseley this weekend.

A team that concedes 8 better than us...:pmsl:
There was only two points between you both before Saturday.

I do actually think they are a better side than you despite last night's freak result. How you lot have managed to take four points from us despite being absolutely awful on both occasions is beyond me.

I would argue that awful sides fail to put away their chances, which is exactly what Chester did at our place back in September. I wasn't there on Saturday, but considering Chester created few opportunities, our defence was clearly doing something right. If you want awful, you should have seen Welling at Hayes Lane last week. Easily the worst team I have seen in this league.

Aldershot Town AFC. The gift that keeps on giving. We've lost five games in a row and you still aren't above us. Hahahahaha.

I really can't see us winning another game this season.

If anyone doesn't NAP Cheltenham in the prediction league this weekend they should be shot immediately.

Have to put £30 on Cheltenham at 8/15 as a way of refunding Saturday's match ticket.

I agree. Aldershot were not the worst team I have seen. Going forward they looked quite dangerous at times in the first half, they just couldn't deal with our pace and Alabi's strength and ability on the turn.

It might go a small way to fund you having to pay everyone on here a grand when we snatch the title. :bg:

I really hope Woking are as bad as you're making out, could do with a comfortable confidence-booster on Saturday.
