St Jude then Falcon to me - been a lot downhill from there. Went to see them in Liverpool late last year and it wasn't the same as it was when they were first on the scene. Having said that I still went out and got Heaton Park tickets.

Was meant to be at Liverpool, Circa Waves had got me and a mate on the guestlist (long story), but instead went to Kasabian in Leeds and got my phone Stolen....Everyone has Heaton Park tickets, don't they?

I was at Liverpool and thought they were boss, also got tickets for Heaton Park myself should be a good day that!

Definitely should be decent - the best gigs I have been too were all outdoors, enjoy them more more than the Arenas. Hoping for couple of decent support acts - I know Catfish & The Bottlmen are rumored and that would be good.

Are Courteeners performing to the same amount of people the Stone Roses performed to at Heaton Park? Joke if so

No. Stone Roses was 70k a night for 3 nights. Courteeners are using the Parklife main stage - its 20,000 folk, 1 night.

Including me obvs.

Anybody got in touch with Gulliball, Posh Hammer (the one in Dubai or something) and Spear?

Just posted the new website on our message board, but Woody is an admin there so it will probably be deleted.

The TFF is closing thread on 1FF got deleted.

Annoying. It isn't as if we were poaching their members. Really poor solidarity. I know they were in a similar position a few years ago.

It's no surprise, as annoying as it is - it gives us traffic from their site. it'l just have to be a case of doing some lurking on there to see if we can pick people up.

To be fair, a few people from 1FF have joined this site representing L1.

The twitter account (not sure whether it was official or not?) that contained a link to this place looks to have gone. That'll probably make it harder for any stragglers to make their way here.

I know we've raked over tff's demise a fair bit in this thread and I won't dwell on it excessively, but now it does finally look to have gone, it seems appropriate to offer some final thoughts on the manner in which it's all ended, especially as I felt there were some really nice tributes and reflections in the wake of the news. I don't doubt for one moment that some of the Admin put an awful lot of work into the place, but I can't help but feel that pulling the plug, in that manner, with no communication, shows an appalling lack of respect for the members who invested a lot (both time and money) in the site. But then it's rather symptomatic of the way it was being administered in its final months - moderators not being briefed about anything, paying members not being notified of the removal of features until they were gone, members being banned for fairly arbitrary reasons - all things that gave rise to quite legitimate complaints. Ultimately, it's difficult not to agree with the sentiment that they failed to appreciate the value of the community that they had created.

Exactly. Just complete contempt for the forum users. Of which I was three or four by the end, so I've taken it particularly badly.

@ Pineapple.

It was obvious – and had been for yonks – that they'd grown tired of the whole thing and had become rather jaded and sour. To an extent, I think that's understandable. They'd been there for ages. Circumstances change. Priorities change with them. And sometimes something you once enjoyed becomes tiresome just through sheer repetition. So no hard feelings on that. Them admitting they couldn't be arsed anymore was, in some respects, admirable.

Their apparent wish for the site to die with their glorious reign was rather harder to stomach (for me, at least), but the next best thing was what they initially did – i.e. give some pre-warning so people could save their content, make new plans and so forth. Part of me wanted to give them credit for that. Unfortunately the "closure" post contained all the usual bugbears: the cloying martyrdom; the superciliousness; the patronising and threatening insistence that everyone must "play nice" or else; gripes about bad feeling but zero acknowledgement that they'd caused it by behaving like humourless, autocratic cock-rings; the inevitable nostalgic circle jerk with numerous unfunny references to Roque Junior and Latvian buses… I just couldn't swallow it down. I wasn't alone.

I don't know what irked them into suddenly pulling the plug. It might have been the (relatively few) dissenting posts in that closure thread. It might have been the lack of people falling to their knees and begging them to reconsider. It might have been people enthusiastically trying to organise something new (the swines!). Hey, it might really have been an April Fools (their latest ill-advised and gimmicky attempt to make people love them) and they threw a strop when they realised it had backfired.

I dunno. And, in all honesty, I don't care now. I said in my last post on TFF that we needed a reboot and new leadership. I didn't say that to annoy Lord Football, or to find a silver lining in the cloud or whatever. I said it because it was my honest view and had been for a very long time. And, on the basis of what's happened since, I think I've been proven right. I don't wish to come across as insensitive to those who've lost content they wanted to keep (that's really shitty), but I'm actually delighted it's worked out the way it has. I even wonder if it would have worked so well if we'd had a 10 week build up.

But, yeah… Spleen vented. Time to move on. Hakunu matata. Or something.
