Starting this thread for purely selfish reasons. Is there any chance of me getting to work at 7pm if I attend this game. Any nearby street parking recommended to use rather than getting stuck in the car park?

We will be taking approximately 3000 fans to this game after a 2-0 win against some team down the road at the weekend. This could be the first time all season we are able to field the same defence in consecutive matches so I hope this will help us.

Will be interesting to see Baldock vs Johnson.

You'll be fine in one of the industrial estates around the ground (Mount Farm or Denbigh). Shouldn't take more than twenty minutes to get to the A421. Just be careful about how you park, and don't expect to turn up at 2:30 and find it easy to get a space.

As for Baldock, he's had a mixed start back with us. I've always had slight doubts about his ability defensively and aside from his pace, he's not really got the tricks to beat a full back with the ball at his feet. He tends to rely on little give and go's to find space for the cross and it's not really worked as easily at this level. Smarter defenders, I'd guess... More concerning is the fact that he's not closed down wingers as effectively as he should be doing. We've conceded a fair few because he didn't get close enough to stop the cross. Not saying you can have him back mind.

Think we'll lose again, we're good at doing that. I'm going for MK Dons 1-2 Oxford.

I think this has all the makings of being a very good game. We are on the back of two wins, and you guys got a good result at Bolton, which should of installed some confidence. We are normally better away than we are at home, but so far in the opening games its been the opposite which is refreshing. Your home games should always be your bread and butter. I think Appleton will want to get that away form back, and starting this saturday. There is a bit of a jump in standards between Lg1 and Lg2. We are not at full strength yet, but believe we will be ok, and have the players (squad) to remain here or even surprise people.

I think it will be won by the odd goal. in a very tight game.

Probably be a draw which I would take after winning back to back home games.

Over 3 thousand tickets sold so far looks like it could be nearer to 4 thousand come Saturday which is class support!

Entirely possible based on our away form. If we keep the formation as against Swindon but play Ryan Taylor instead of Wes Thomas then we could just as easily win. George Baldock will certainly have pace up against him if Marvin Johnson plays.

Not bad, hopefully they all go home unhappy.

So I've done the fieldwork, gathered the numbers and plugged all the relevant stats, facts and figures into my trusty predictor model. The difference will be Baldock, an absolute liability who I have never rated. 3-0 to Oxford. Expect some goals to come from down our left side.

I'll say it now before it gets posted here...

Tonight will be full of Oxford fans going "there were never 9,000 Dons fans there, looked about half that".

It happens every game. The reasons are simple.

1: We have a huge stadium. Each block in the lower tier holds 800 people. 18 of those blocks are open to home fans. Even if they're all only half full, that's 7,200. Let that sink in...

2. Like most clubs we comply with FL Guidelines and give the attendance figure including non-attending S/T holders. In a town as relatively affluent as MK that's a lot of families who won't turn up every game (especially as under 12 get free S/T's), and people with busy lives "away on business", "in the Cotswolds" and "gone skiing" etc. :)

Who really gives a shit what they think Camden? Do people really think clubs lie about attendances? What would be the point in that?

I know. However, I'm just putting it out there. It's the same with every first visit to us.

As for the "lying about attendances" it's a sinister plot to prove that Winkie's "Frenzy" is actually happening. :bdick: The tricky bit is sitting with the auditors trying to explain away the fact that we "lost" several hundred thousand pounds a season in gate receipts. They tend to take a dim view on that.

What I will say though, is that 8,000 people through the turnstiles at ours doesn't equate to the same revenue as 8,000 at any other club where they don't have such a huge percentage of kids. That'll change... If it hasn't already to some degree.

We are.

Good bit of evidence last night. The club put up a video as it six years to the day since we beat Southampton 2:0 at s:mk (Balanta & Leven). The attendance that night was just over 8,000. Even though Saints were in a terrible position (it was Adkins first game), they would still have bought about 1,500 fans. do you think we'd ever go as low as 6,500 home fans for a club of that sort of stature now in L1? Not a chance.

I know you mean if results don't improve, but that's only an accelerator for attendances. We've grown massively since those days, irrespective of the mixed results, and will continue to grow.

In my first experience of your club, I have to say you do a cracking job of falling out with people who aren't looking to argue with you. The same with your forum. I can see why that might be, but doesn't it get a bit tiring?

Happy with a point (only based on the radio though), would have taken that before kick off. Sounded like both keepers had good games, in particular Simon Eastwood.

Fair enough if that just went over my head.

As for today. Thought MK were the better team, but not by enough to be too upset about only getting one point. I think both goalkeepers were called into action properly only once, and it was a game of few chances. Quality was far ahead of L2 though, so not too bad a day out for me.

A point is definitely a decent result for us, after our exertions last week. We were definitely happy with it by the end, to our detriment as we sat far too deep and nearly lost everything but for a smart save by Eastwood. We lost something when Thomas went off. Positives - Maguire and Rothwell our best players and looked good, with Lundstram still looking more happy going into a challenge than he had.

As for MK. The 14 was fast and made good runs, enough to make us nervous. If I heard right and you gave the keeper MOTM then it's an odd one for me. I'm not surprised that you don't get the Baldock hype as much as us, because you didn't use him right at all in the first half. No point asking him to sit back and defend, tuck in and come central. He's best wheeling out around and ahead of the right mid. And TBH if you let him loose more like that, I think he would be your best player.

Great ground. Makes you think just how much of a missed opportunity our own effort was. You can tell that your supporters aren't too enthusiastic about League One football. Finally a bloody superb effort by all Ox who got themselves there.

Tbf, Baldock is normally bombing down the right wing but for some reason he wasn't really doing it today in the first half. You lot were defo on him to stop that happening. He got a bit more freedom in the second half.

Yeah, that's fair. I definitely saw Skarz put in a crunching tackle before picking him up, shaking his hand and getting ready for the next on  but I would have expected him to be more effective. To be fair, I was sat in the lower corner so I could see a bit more going through GB in the second half but probably not too well placed.

Parked at Dominoes in plenty of time. Stadium and surroundings looks decent. Definitely worthy of a big Championship side.
Game was fairly even but we looked tired and slow at times. Wes getting injured did for us.

The tannoy has a decibels per occupant ratio to rival the baddest Vauxhall Corsa. This, enforced seating where your ticket was and spreading us out made it difficult to generate any atmosphere until the game started. Still hate drums.

MK class showed as they always had potential but I thought a point was a fair result.
Took about 10 minutes to leave the stadium after the final whistle, 10 minute walk to the car and I made it to work on time.
Lovely to listen to Radio Oxford on the way back from the game.

Baldock is class on and off the pitch and should be playing at a higher level.
