Since our 2013 side under Derek McInnes I haven't seen a team defend as badly as Swansea did on the weekend. For that reason accompanied by their poor run it's a justifiable sacking for me. Did a good job overall though.

Shit decision really, it's the players that go out on the pitch and perform. Another young manager sacked too early.

Swansea were always going to struggle to stay up at some point, they have just enjoyed a few seasons in mid-table, much like Fulham etc.

I thought Monk did well until this year but with players such as Montero, Ayew and Sigurdson, there really is no excuse to do as poorly as you currently are.

Also Ste, check your PM's :lol:

Not much you can do when you have Federico fucking Fernandez as your CB

No surprise, unfortunately. No matter how much people want loyalty to matter, any manager in the top flight with just 1 win in 11 games would be struggling to keep his job.

Oh well, onwards and backwards.

Shame about Monk really. Since selling Bony they don't seem to have enough about them. Gomis scores in spells but he's really not up to Bony's standard. Ayew was a great signing but they really didn't spend very much this summer, and when other midtable teams are splashing the cash on good players, like Palace on Cabaye, Stoke on Shaqiri, and Liverpool on Benteke, it's hardly a surprise they've lost ground.

idk mate, mcmuffin had 2 wins in 14 before absolutely fucking demolishing the undisputed champions of football. i think he deserved time personally, given his achievements last season.

Ours wouldn't :bow::bow:

Disappointed for Monk; and for English coaches in general. Really hoped he'd turn it around there. Being so synonymous with one club and a style of play could limit his potential for further jobs sadly.

Rodgers would be a good appointment but probably not the short term motivator they're looking for

Can Monk harp on about his win percentage like Sherwood did so he can land a job he probably doesn't deserve?

Seems a bit harsh to me, his first poor spell and he's been sacked, I'd have backed him to turn it around and get them a midtable finish.

But he certainly had van Gaal's number so good riddance.

Yeah this really. I'd personally have liked him to get January to bolster a few areas and then see how he did but I suppose they're scared of relegation. There's no way they're going down with some of the poor teams in the bottom 4/5 though.

Monk deserved time and money and got neither. Terrible decision.

Got Laudrup's team to 8th, got his own team to barely above the drop.

Reminds me very much of Steve Clarke at West Brom. May have looked a poor decision at the time, but it's an inexperienced manager not being able to cope when things go against him. They need someone experienced who can turn them around. Moyes favourite is a good shout.

That's bollox.

Premature sacking and I'm pretty annoyed in the manner of how the board have handled this. Monk deserved to have been informed as soon as they came to a decision.

If I was to have a preference out of the touted candidates then it'd be;

1) Bielsa
2) Favre
3) Mazzarri
4) Moyes
5) Warburton
6) Poyet

Just shows how quickly a manager's fortunes can change!

Only a few months ago he was being touted as a future England manger!
