Having read earlier that Newport have signed Montserrat international Dean Morgan, I remembered we have our own on loan Montserratian Brandon Comley. Last year we had Anthony Griffith, former Montserrat captain, too.

I hope this isn't postponed as we've already got a backlog of games. It's a winnable game from our perspective, though they've already beaten us this season and have improved since then.

Joyce and Hery may be fit to return, though I think Comley deserves to retain his place in the team after last week. I'd play Jabo and Wyke up front again.

I'd settle for a 2-1 away win, but it'll be difficult.

Dean Morgan is a cock who could have consistently played at a higher level if he didn't burn his bridges wherever he goes.

But. A talented player.

Not that far off Leon Knight in the toxic journeyman stakes though.

Game will be on tomorrow. Its been cold down here this week but more importantly largely dry. Pitch looks ok following last nights rugby. Early start for you northern boys to make the 1pm ko.
First double of the season on the cards - 2-1 home win with Boden and Byrne with goals.

We've conceded 1 goal in our last 3 in the league, hopefully continue that run tomorrow with another clean sheet. Get a feeling Wyke will score since he signed his new contract, hoping for Jabo to notch as well to get his confidence back up. 100% cannot lose here if we want the play-offs still, if we get some momentum now we can easily be back in them by the end of the month.

Newport have been made slight favourites for this one, as our last 3 games against Newport since they came back to the football league have all been defeats, with the last defeat being a truly embarrassing one,

I mean how the hell did we lose against a team managed by Terry Butcher? The shame!

Montserrat is one of the most fascinating places I can think of. When I was in Antigua a helicopter ride over Montserrat was on my to-do list... Never got round to it :(

Game ON. Very little rain since Mondays storm Imogen, some showers possible today but no fear of a postponement.

Sounds like we've been absolutely shite today. No complaints, we've deserved to lose.

Have to bounce back and at least get something on Tuesday now.

Sounds like Newport are in complete control, a poor performance from us again.

Well no surprise if this ends a defeat, Newport are officially our bogey team and I'd say this will be our first league defeat of the season where we have been completely uncompetitive, it sounds very much like a match from last season when we were bad. The pitch at Newport is absolutely shocking and very anti-football, but nothing ever get's done about these issues by the football league so no point complaining there.

I think we desperately need Grainger back and a creative midfielder/left winger in on loan.

Very disappointing from the lads.

Well clearly just getting beat wasn't shit enough, we had to finish with ten men too.

Looks like our season is going to pitter away now for sure.

Still got to get 50 points for safety though. lol

Inconsistent. Can't be losing against this Newport side twice in a season, not good enough.

£2million investment rejected with no explanation, followed by a poor defeat.

Bad days coming back?

Don't lose hope, we've still sufficient time to get our act together.

It's ok as I have just heard we were poor today because a virus had effected the whole team near enough the last few days, it is a good excuse so nothing to panic about, just one game.

Now we can go back to playing brilliant and getting promotion by winning the next 10 games in a row!

Oh by the way Curle also said he's singing the new contract on his way back on the bus. yay.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
its worrying at the moment as we've been laying awful since the turn of the year, the defeat isn't surprising really because we have the look of a side who is going to have a bad run somepoint soon, even last week was just a scrappy win between 2 pretty horrible sides who did very little (but we still did more than accy who were shocking)

but 2 games vs Yeovil were poor, Barnet was Poor, Newport was awful........these are games really we should be comfortably winning, it just says simply we ain't troubling the top 7.

but not sure if i blame Curle or Board here, granted Curle has changed his approach and its backfired as we've lost that do or die approach, but its been obvious for months we need better on the left wing, we rake in tonnes of cash and bring in nothing, then end up with right footed central midfielders or right footed strikers playing on the left wing.....with the right winger badly out of form its meant our creativity is zero at the moment.

we just play like Keith Alexanders old Lincoln team.....try and score from endless long throws or corners and zero else.

a defeat has been coming for a while and can see it followed up next game.....then we may panic into finally bringing someone in......but it'll just be some untested youth.

Do you know what, after last seasons sorry shower of vomit sprinkling over a fat turd of shite League 2 relegation lucky escape, I would have taken this all day long.

Into February, no danger of relegation, an outside chance of making top 7 if we can put a run together. The worst that can happen is our season fades into a quiet drama free lower mid table finish.

Last season this would have been all our wet dreams coming at once.

Put it this way, we have to beat Accrington on Tuesday no excuses and if we don't then that's the season over for us.

Some of you need to understand though that a virus has effected the team the last few days, it's probably the reason we were so bad today.

A comfortable home win, was never in doubt. 3 or 4 nil would've been a fair scoreline. We played some good stuff on a tricky pitch. Carlisle were shit, worst team I've seen at Dave this season.

You know I'm sure it's not easy to play football on a 1970s pitch, even more so when nearly the whole of our team was suffering from an illness.

The pitch is the same for both so it's absolutely no excuse for losing and playing so terrible, but it was shockingly bad.

I think clubs should be forced to maintain their pitch up to a certain standard or face consequences. This is professional football not fucking Sunday morning park stuff.

I would say our pitch is shit for about 50% of the season. Generally ok at start before rugby wear and tear takes its toll and in spring when turf recovers a bit. Plus despite a new drainage system we've had 3 games called off so yep its not great this time of year. We suffer most as we have to play 23 games on it which explains our better away form.
Only long term solution is a hybrid pitch like Swansea and Reading.

Our club should put a complaint in to the football league about Newport's so called pitch, our pitch was submerged in flood water twice and we got it back to looking immaculate!

It's time Newport stopped looking for excuses and became a professional league club by getting in with the modern era. If not then they're an embarrassment!
