Most tin pot comb over by an official, it was even a different colour.

I bet he gets games called off when it’s windy, though it was well gelled down.

The Champions League Last 16 ties are getting re-drawn as they fucked up the first attempt. Apparently they forgot about Bolton Wanderers.

We've competed in Europe too. Played in the Anglo Italian Cup four times against continental powerhouses such as Barnsley and Middlesbrough.

You’ve also seen em in admin, something most of our clubs will never do.
Not many clubs down here have NOT been in administration. Grimsby was in the shit a couple of times and if it was not for Fenty would have been in administration. Quite simple football cannot make a profit in the lower leagues and your turn will come.

The difference between ourselves and you is that we owed about £1.5M to the Inland Revenue and chose to repay it. You lot were in excess of £10M in debt and chose the admin route and immediately started spending beyond your means as soon as you could. Pretty sure you posted losses of £3.5M again just last summer, didn't you? Your last sentence is bollocks too as we turned a profit several times in our last stint in L2.

The owner we had who put us into Administration was banned from being a Director yet he passed the EFL fit and proper test
Our new owners are like chalk and cheese....Proper business people.
You are correct we did post 3.5m loss last summer but that was for the previous Summer and included paying off previous Debt.
We will no doubt post another big loss this coming year for the same reasons and covid from last season.
How do you turn a profit in lge 2?
Exeter apart from the Watkins money i dont see how it is possible

Because Fenty was so ridiculously tight that he cut corners everywhere. From offering your star striker who banged in 35 goals the season before a lesser deal than the one you offered him in Jan, to doing next to no maintenance work at Blundell Park for years, to having out of shape balls at training, to promising your manager a fitness coach and deciding it's actually not necessary...there are plenty of creative ways to become sustainable if you aren't arsed about relegation.

Plenty of clubs make a profit and carry on, most choose not too, instead believing throwing more money at it and gambling with their future will lead to magic beans. Others like Fenty believe not spending anything and limping along hoping magic beans will fall into their lap for free. Wycombe recently a recent profit of over 3m despite playing behind closed doors for the season and still spent a million on infrastructure and had over 3m in the bank.

I dont think they knew about the Welsh Language in the 70s. That was pre S4C and the Welsh Language Act.
Good point. It’s amazing how much official recognition of Welsh and Wales’ identity has moved on since then.

That's very true but there are a lot that are a darned sight better than him too and fortunately we've got two of those in as his replacement.

The money he put in to save us hasn't been written off, by the way. One of the terms of him handing over the club is that he is paid £500k a year for the next three years and if we make anything in transfer fees then that will come off his £1.5M bill earlier. He'd already taken the other £500k back over the course of the previous 5 or so years, so don't think for a second he was running us sustainability for the club's benefit. He was doing it to get his money back and in doing so he got us relegated out of the Football League for a second time in just over a decade. Let's also not forget that he blackmailed our trust out of shares so that he could have a majority ownership.

Except it wasn't that much in debt, I believe bank overdraft up to 500k which eventually a long time after Fenty took over the bank wanted repayment off, so was repaid yearly until gone and some to HMRC, rest has always been directors loans.

Only time its been over 2m in debt is around our first drop to non league, and nearly all that debt was to Fenty himself. When Fenty came on board we were a championship side, since he became chairman he oversaw us drop down to non league twice and apart from one season in 2005 never finish above 14th in lge 2.

There are plenty of owners worse than him yes, but there's plenty better than him and more successful as well.

Also we now owe him 500k a year for three years as part of him leaving, and any transfer fees or other football fortune in that time goes to him first before the the club.

Cod almighty recently ran a very good summary of his time at the club including how he truly financed the club and it appears he never did, he's had more money out of us than he ever put in.

The Fenty years part 1
The Fenty years part 2
The Fenty years part 3
The Fenty years bonus financial supplement

I can’t believe I’ve never seen this, incredible

As you have probably experienced yourself after reading that (excellent) review of the Fenty era, it's no coincidence things took a turn for the better as soon as they pissed off.
