Being sponsored by Home Bargains has to be one of the most tinpot things currently.

But don't knock it. 4 Kit Kat chunkies for £1 when some fools pay about £1.20 for one at the footy.

I know it looks tinpot, but is anyone in the Conference sponsored by a company whose turnover even comes close to Home Bargains?

Edit: ok, Chester might have us there with MBNA!

Charlton have introduced a new pitch side 'fan sofa'. :ffs: Unveiled by some nobodies off Gogglebox. Double whammy right there.

Sounds like Boreham Wood are going to charge teams to record and use footage from games at their ground.

That was in operation last season. Our cameraman couldn't film our game at their place due to the exclusivity of BWTV where you can watch highlights of the match for the small fee of £4.* What they didn't realise is that a supporter of ours records footage and posts goals on Youtube almost instantaneously.

*You're a mug if you spend £4 on highlights.

Can we have this man on emergency loan?

It's annoying. I'll do my best to get down there but making money out of that is cynical. As a result Shaymen travelling down have been called upon to boycott every other expenditure in the ground, from using the carpark to paying for food, drink and merch. It'd be nice for every club to charge Morning Wood to bring their cameras in on away days, but highly unlikely. It does set a precedent, but since many teams in our league have the Player system I doubt it'll catch on, plus it's obviously unpopular.

I've got no idea whether this has been posted in here, but the violence at Thamesmead Town vs Clapton the other night was proper tinpot and pretty bloody shameful as well.

Not happening, although speaking of Boreham Wood and tinpot...

Last year (and I believe before that as well) they charged admission of £13.50. The normal admission price in the league is £12 but there's includes a programme, which is great if you're one of the first 50 who gets into the ground. Those that arrive later still pay the full admission price so in essence it's a scam.

I'm assuming 50 isn't the number of programmes full stop?

But that's Borehamwood's usual attendance anyway...

I don't know the exact number but it does appear to be a problem whenever there is a large crowd. They had supposedly run out by 2:30pm when we played them last season.

I never understood the appeal on buying programmes at away match when 90% of the content is only relevant to supporters of the home team.

New Season kit arriving from JAKO more to come #fingerscrossed

TBF we had that problem 2 seasons ago. Our kit arrived the day before the first game of the season, or something crazy like that. Not a problem this season, mind.

And at the start of the 95/96 season every team in the Isthmian league played the first 2 months of the season in old kit. At the start of the 95/96 season kit makers ICIS agreed to sponsor the Isthmian league, and as part of the deal agreed to supply every team in the 4 divisions of the Isthmian at the time with new kits. Which were late.

Was always useful to know that, thanks to the official chaplain of Raggedy Arse Rovers FC, God was behind the opposition team.

I've heard this happen at grassroots clubs, chiefly at official "groundhopper" days out though. £3 in and a programme at that level. I think we had it at Shelley FC (W Yorks league) this pre-season for an XI match. All the tinpottier to know a National League team were (will still be?) up to those tricks just to keep entry high.

There are so many of our fans there that our twitter guy thinks we are playing at home!

Not sure if this counts as tinpot, but it's certainly unusual.

During pre-season friendly at Bishops Cleeve last month, we allowed a man filming a documentary to be part of our matchday squad, going under the pseudonym Richie Yingn. He actually came on for the last 5-10 minutes, looking slightly out of place playing in a team of full time pros, to say the least.

The documentary is being made by someone called Philip Whiteley, with some details on the talenthouse website:

Breaking Yingn
ONE MAN. ONE SPORT. ONE GOAL. ZERO PERCENT CHANCE OF SUCCESS. 100 PERCENT BELIEF IN HIMSELF. ONE YEAR TO PROVE EVERYONE WRONG. The idea I'm pitching is for a mini documentary that I hope will inspire an audience to get behind something much bigger. It will focus on someone, a real person, who intends to use sport as a way to reach an audience no-one else can. Under the pseudonym of Richie Yingn, one man is prepared to have the whole world watch as he attempts to take on the ultimate sporting challenge and prove himself against the professionals, as well as compete at the very highest level. What makes him qualified for this? Nothing really. He's currently unemployed, overweight, unfit, and on the top of that he suffers from an OCD, which prevents him from shaking people's hands. He also has braces and there's some doubt over how old he is. Other than that, these things only go to prove that he's human just like anyone else, so what's there really to stop him trying and embarking on something great. If he has the belief and the commitment, is there any reason to doubt he wont make it. His fate now lies in the audience. If a tree falls in a forest and no-one is around to see it, does it make a sound? For one year Richie is going to give it everything, but the question is will people be there at the end to watch. Like Miley Cyrus famously said, “If you believe in yourself, anything is possible.” It might take a miracle but no matter how far he gets, I'm certain the journey will be well worth watching. And if he can do it, anyone can.
