Isn't William Wallace mostly famous for the Battle of Falkirk which he lost? Is Brechin remotely close to Falkirk?

The battle of Falkirk was won thanks to Welsh archers, finally some welshmen who could hit the target.
Brechin is not close to Falkirk!

we can't all be bought out be a professional 'Council Estate Lad'.

You can see it as whoring ourselves out, but the bottom line is that without substantial investment our long term future was becoming Southport. We really didn't have many options and just struck lucky with the new owners. They have a strategy to make the club self-sustaining, and part of that includes building a brand and marketing that brand worldwide- not just with a small.grpup of North Walians.

If you don't like it then fine, they don't own your club and you can feel all smug about that. But we've had 13 years down here- a whole generation of fans have never seen us play in the League, so forgive us for embracing it a bit. Particularly when the trade off for all the funny videos etc is a rebuilt ground and hopefully regaining our league status.
Apart from wanting Notts to win the league, I wish Wrexham well, thirteen years down here is a long time and you're due a good season or two but I can't see Wrexham or us or Stockport or any other club being sustainable. We're all money pits that burn through owners until their money runs out or at least their desire to spend wanes.
I can't see Ryan Renolds wanting the terrible PR of leaving Wrexham in a mess so at least you're unlikely to end up in the kind of mess with the begging buckets out before matches and frantic efforts from the Trust to keep you afloat.
We've been there and it's awful.

Sustainability is one of those things. You're sustainable until you are not. Are we bringing in more money than we are spending? probably just about at the moment. Can we do this forever? probably (absolutely) not.

The state of this Job Advertisement from Fylde.

"This is a ”hands on role” and requires hands on leadership from the front so “delegators” and “office dwellers” please don't apply. If not already apparent, we are not a Premiership Club and therefore every penny and every fan has to be fought for and respected. You will need to be proactive in your approach to everything. We work hard at Fylde so again don't apply if you are looking for “a work life balance” or have to pick the kids up from school twice a week at 3.30."

Don't be coming here being 'pregnant', or a 'woman', or someone expecting 'leave'.

There is a lot going on there but I particularly like the suggestion that you don’t ‘work hard’ if you consider spending at least some time with your family a basic necessity.

Also, the fact it appears to be application by mail only (ie no email) confirms the fact the advert has somehow time-travelled here from 1974 and was written by Gene Hunt.

Yeah its crazy isn't it. Its a job being a dogsbody for that nutter of a chairman. I wonder what salary expectation they intend to meet?

As someone said it’s particularly thick because there are probably some excellent candidates out there who would do a great job - but would take one look at that advert and think ‘no thanks!’

You can tell that the chairman is a fan of Farage just from that advert. I’m surprised he didn’t end the ad with ”Triggered, snowflake!”

Basically this, a lot of people are happy to work overtime and sacrifice some of their personal time and when they need to, but if you're gonna come out from day one and insist they must do it and mock the entire concept of a family life you're just limiting yourself to those with huge egos.

The first one is definitely the owner, the second one doesn't put "quotation marks" around anything that "might" be a "noun", and tries to limit the damage, so I'd guess is an underling's words but with Haythorntwat hovering over their shoulder

That’s why I’ve never tried to meet B2TF as I’m worried that in person he may actually be quite normal and then the whole persona of the weirdo is ruined.
Ah! There you go, well done, that's the first intimation I've seen in 8 years on here that at least one of you grasps the concept of the "internet cartoon character", a persona adopted by creative individuals for the amusement, entertainment and education of fellow forum members. Not as daft as your own cartoon persona makes you appear, and everything about you suddenly makes perfect sense. Peace, brother cartoon character. :ds:
